It's brilliant! I downtune my premier royal ace 4 sometimes as a bd in uber small cafe venues. You need a robust snare stand though. The mapex falcon is really good and a long as you position the weight of the snare directly over a leg, it shouldn't wobble. I then use a 'drum mat' and my rubber coated tama cobra pedal so the pedal doesn't move wherever you put it. This would be for playing heel down

Thanks! Yeah snares also make great bass drums in general if you're in a tiny gig space. Get a relatively deep one and downtune it.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I would say this is about weight. Make sure you have a sturdy snare drum stand. I'm using a mapex falcon here. Make sure the stand is on carpet or a non slip surface and the same goes for the pedal. My Tama Iron cobra is already ruberised underneath so I've never had a problem. Yes it's the offset screw. This is what makes it tricky as there's a lack of precision. Screw the hi hat up so that the notch underneath the hi hat that changes the position is all the way up inside the clutch. Then gradually start turning all in one direction and then you will have a better idea of where the sweet spot starts to occur. It's best to start the process so that you have physically reset the clutch. I will make another video on the next few weeks to illustrate what I mean a bit better. Thanks for all the comments

Hi Jared. Sure the mount for the brain can go vertical or horizontal. Using a drum key, take the fat left leg of the drum frame as if you were in the playing position. Simply slide the brain mount on and it should then become clear where the mount can go on. The plastic mount between the frame and the brain can be mounted in two ways. I hope this helps

I don't see why not, you'll have to go into pad settings and tell the module what the pad for that specific channel is. It's all just midi information so in theary it should work. Good luck with the setup!

Thanks Paul. Sorry I missed this. Yeah seriously I didn't include the clutch adjustment in the video even though I was doing that at the time. Looking back it's still a mystery. I notice a huge difference using the hi hat with the in built sounds compared with using Ableton as a brain. The hi hat on this kit is a world of its own! 😂

Hi Gordon, thanks for your comment.Yes the VH10 will be fine on a remote stand. It's just the motion sensor unit that you put on top of your remote hi hat the same as any other hi hat stand. Just bear in mind that you might be limited with the length of the TRS cable that comes with the kit , especially if you are thinking of using open handed style. But any normal TRS female to male extension cable should be fine for that. Good luck with your setup!

Hi Federico. The size of the snare really doesn't matter but maybe something on the lighter side so that the stand can hold it. Then use A 3 ply silent head on it. There are lots of brands. You can even try putting some fabric under this when you put it on to deaden the feel so it's not so springy. I use a really chunky snare stand to support the snare on a 90o angle so the Mapex falcon snare stand. Trigger is the Roland single rt30 I think?

Yes this is a fair point. Firstly I think you need a heavy duty snare stand. Mine is the Mapex Falcon so pretty sturdy. Possibly may need securing to the frame with zip ties for extra peace of mind. What I would stay now is definitely a 3 ply head, perhaps with an old t-shirt or bit of fabric underneath this stretching across the frame to add a more dampened feel. Then make sure your pedal is on a decent rug with a good grip or velcro. Then it should be fine for double stroke / heavy playing. I'm more of a jazzy / off the head player but I think it should work for your style as well if you make sure the set up is robust. Thanks for the comment!

Hi, so the other pads are all working fine? There should be two trs plugs for the ride. Try them on other pads and see if you get anything. If you do then it's a sensor issue in your ride

@@EmmaHolbrookDrums Hey I just got all of them checked, there was issue with the sensitivity and threshold. Rest all working smooth like butter but there’s a delayed response on the ride cymbal for some reason. Have you ever faced an issue like this though?

@Metal_Health_Worker do you mean a snare drum stand? That's totally optional. I have now just gone back to using the Roland ball joint. The foam was a cross section of a pool noodle designed to cut down on impact noise when doing left foot work. I don't use that any more or even the foam coated disc that comes with the hi hat. Much better to keep that a solid mount. Hope this helps

Yes, but the weight of the snare drum and stand with a silent head means that there isn't much force put on the head as with a traditional bass drum. You can experiment with different plys and even putting a t shirt under the snare head when you put it on. I also have a tama Iron Cobra which has a rubber lining underneath so it's kept in place on a rug or matt. The snare stand is the Mapex Falcon so that isn't going anywhere. Hopew that helps.
