My son was in the Navy and he and some friends were visiting one summer and we talked about going to the lake. His friend said he didn't know how to swim. "How can you be in the Navy and not know how to swim?" He replied, "If I end up in the water, then I did something really wrong!"

The U-Boot 2nd edition Kickstarter ended 11/3/23, however, they are planning on accepting late pledges (according to Kickstarter Update #14).

Great List. I would have to put Merchants and Marauders, Dead Men Tell No Tales and Fire and Axe a Viking Saga on mine. Also Plunder by Laughing Pan Productions. This game is way out of print though. Pirates Cove might make my list as I played this one a ton with my daughters. Even Red November and Tiny Epic Pirates just might make the list. Oh and I really do like Endeavor: Age of Sail and Archipelago. And Panamax. How could I forget that one. Maybe because if is in the channel and not really out at sea. Hmm, now I am going to have to really think about this one. And I still really want to try Nemo's War (Second Edition). Thanks Cody.

Dear Cody, I wrote to Worthington because of your Prinz Eugen misprint in Bismarck Deluxe. They wrote (quote):"I believe only his. Our copy is fine." Have you information about other copies with a misprint? Captain Sonar is imo really one of the greatest games! Other great 'naval' games from my collection are Pacific Tide, The Crew Mission Deep Sea and 3 solos: Nemo's War, By Stealth & Sea and Nautilion. All the best and thanks for the videos!

The Chase of the Bismarck from Vuca simulations is my number one. It’s long but one of those games when you check the time and say “ Blimey have we really been playing for 5 hours”

I totally agree with you on Atlantic Chase. Excellent but rather complex and some rules can probably be cut to streamline it. But I do like it and hope for a Pacific version if possible - that`s a bit simpler! EDIT: Actually I believe that the designer`s original intent was to cover the American Civil War with this system. Interesting.

I am ashamed to admit I have not played any of these. But have really wanted to play all of them. So I would say you have a good list. On my list of Naval gamees (Ones I Own and love) are all old school and only availble on ebay. My 1st war Game Justland AH. It is a miniature WW1 naval game in a box. No air craft and a Dreadnaught Slug Fest. Bismark in the Reviesd edition AH took the miniature rules from Jutland and added to the original Bismark. Submarine I was at the AH store in Baltimore and saw the Battleline version being played in the front room before they released their version. I think Don Greenwood was playing it. I bout the Battlelin and later the AH versions. Battleline had nicer real thick counters and a larger play area (Map sheets) , But the AV ver took up a lot less space. The AH original Midway a Classic. Then later AH came out with the Smithsonian series Midway (Had a Coral Sea variant) & Guadalanal (which is the Midway system but with the Solomons campaigns). Tokoyo Express is another great game from Victory Games (AH) Solotair Navel Nght Actions around Guadalcanal A lot of fun.. I know these are all old but a lot of fun. Each has its own charm.

I don't know if it qualifies since it's probably hard to get, but I used to love the old Avalon Hill Midway game. Their Bismarck game was also excellent. I also enjoyed the hard core Civil War naval game, Ironclads, published by an outfit called Yaquinto. JAWS!!??......I'm not closing the beaches on our busiest weekend of the season.

Red November would have been a perfect pick for a November video on Sea games. Also enjoy the Conquest of Paradise game about Polynesian expansion. Great list!

And the #1 game is... TWILIGHT IMPERIUM!!! Just kidding. I need to see if I can wrangle 7 people to give game #1 a go.

Theme aside, just on mechanics alone - what do you rate higher Unfathomable or BSG?
