It was a rivalry that was the stuff of legend. Thirty years ago, Sunday Silence got the better of Easy Goer in the Derby and the Preakness, making the latter's win in the Belmont that much more special.

EG only had 2 weeks rest leading into Derby so He had to Run in the Derby so He ran The Derby/Preakness/Belmont in 1 Month...With this little rest and running Long distances during Crown and STILL be able to win the 1 1/2 Belmont by "8" lengths and 2nd fastest Belmont only Behind Secretariat is EXTREMELY impressive by Easy Goer and showed the Sport why he was Touted so early in Career as The Next Superstar...His natural talent was Near top of the food chain...Nobody would deny this

GREAT piece. I remember these races so well, and I could watch Arthur and Shug be interviewed forever. Very special. Thank you for putting it together. PS: Sunday Silence is among my favorite horses ever, along with Fager, Forego, Slew and John Henry. (I'm old).

Even Shug & Charlie knew. Shug said, "Easy Goer was a Better Horse than Sunday Silence. Pat Day got Easy Goer beat. Day waited when he didn't need to wait. We had ss beat and then Day let ss back in the races. Pat Day & I agree that he made riding mistakes. Easy Goer was the better horse than sunday silence. Easy Goer was by far the best horse I ever trained, Easy Goer was the most talented horse I've ever had. Easy Goer's action was so athletic, so natural, so fluid; he glided over the track; he ran blazingly fast & did it so easily. Easy Goer captured the public; he was a brilliantly fast horse, exciting to watch, & he had a great following. I had always dreamed of having a horse like Easy Goer. Easy Goer is by far the best that I've ever had. What Easy Goer did in all races, you just don't see that anymore. Easy Goer wanted to do a lot, all the time. My job - I had a Porsche in Easy Goer - was to not drive it 200 miles an hour every day. My job was just to keep him level, & keep him reserved. He wanted to go. I was very young, very inexperienced & made many mistakes." Charlie Whittingham himself said, "I am very angered that there is only 1 state in the whole country which bans all performance enhancing drugs, which bans all drugs, & also bans the illegal criminal veterinarian Alex Harthill (Harthill admitted to illegally giving illegal performance enhancing drugs [Clenbuterol, Subliamze, Etorphine, etc] to the drug-reliant sunday silence) despite his criminal record (Harthill was arrested numerous times in many states [Kentucky, NY, Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, etc] for illegally drugging numerous horses). I think ss maybe can be as good as EG, & maybe can be as Great as Easy Goer, but ONLY IF EVERYTHING goes ss's way." Pat Wait All Day (Pat Start Stop Start Stop Start Day, Pat a Day late, Pat Delay Day, Pat ron franklin esque Day, Pat so passive and patient he could watch a faucet drip for days Day) himself said, "I was on the far superior, far better horse in Easy Goer, but we lost a few photos to him by the slimmest of margins totally due to rider errors on my part. I had FAR MORE HORSE than I knew what to do with. It was totally my fault." Shug McGaughey & Charlie Whittingham both knew the truth as well. Pat Banned 40 times for Drugs Valenzuela himself said, "Easy Goer was a Super Horse. In order for ss to even be close to Easy Goer, I had to do any & everything possible. I had to purposely & deviously force EG out as wide as can be down the backstretch & at every other point I could in races; & I had to purposely & deviously bang & push EG in as tight as can be scraping the dead rail. Arazi was the best horse I ever rode. Arazi could do more and was even a much better horse than sunday silence." Case closed.

Well, that cinches it: If Shug said it, it has to be true. I remember when Charlsie Canty interviewed Shug before the '89 Super Derby he said Awe Inspiring was the second best three-year-old in the country. You write these lengthy, mind-numbingly essays and the theme is always the same: Easy Goer was better and drugs were involved in Sunday Silence's victories (even if he was clean in the '89 Classic. And the Valenzuela about Arazi being the best horse he ever rode? Steve Cauthern said Arazi was better than Affirmed. I remember in 1985 hearing Cauthern say "Free Guest" couldn't be beaten in the Arlington Million. (I cashed on Teleprompter.) This case will never be closed in your blistered memory. Thirty years later and it's still eating away at you.

@@andredarin8966 He was not clean. The DIRECT EVIDENCE is the VOLUNTARY ADMISSION by Alex Harthill in 2001 DRF article, with the title & subtitles: 'Kentucky Derby Doctor Alex Harthill Reveals Disgraceful Past: Harthill Reflects on Unlawful Life's Work. Harthill Discloses He Administered Forbidden Performance-Enhancing Drugs To Many American Classic Winners In The Kentucky Derby, Preakness And Breeders' Cup Classic.' Direct verbatim quotes of what Hovdey wrote, & direct verbatim quotes of Harthill: "Alex Harthill was BOLD ENOUGH to tell me (Hovdey/DRF) how he illegally gave numerous horses illegal drugs, INCLUDING Clenbuterol, Sublimaze & Etorphine TO SUNDAY SILENCE. Harthill ADMITTED to illegally breaking the laws in ENHANCING his horses PERFORMANCES. Harthill ADMITTED to illegally using the immensely effective performance enhancing Bronchodilator drug Clenbuterol REGULARLY in the 1980's on his horses, 15 years before it was approved by the FDA, INCLUDING USING IT ON SUNDAY SILENCE. Harthill introduced the incredibly effective performance enhancing drug Clenbuterol in the 1980's & illegally administered it TO SUNDAY SILENCE, who benefited immeasurably by its immensely effective performance enhancing effects. Some of Harthill's other drugs that HE ADMINISTERED TO SUNDAY SILENCE were Etorphine & Sublimaze. Harthill described how he gave Northern Dancer Furosemide in the hours before the Derby in 1964, affirming, 'I got a vet I knew from out of town to come along with me. I told him I was going to turn to the right, & he would go that way & take this syringe down to barn 24, stall 23, & give this to that horse. There would be a guy there called Will. He'd be waiting. So he did it, while the gendarmes followed me.' Other than Northern Dancer, Harthill confirmed that he gave Furosemide to other notable horses, including Proud Clarion, Kauai King, Lucky Debonair, Majestic Prince, Forward Pass & Master Derby. Harthill declared he regularly used illegal amphetamine & stimulant drugs, & gave illegal amphetamine & stimulant drugs to Decidedly, Iron Liege & Tim Tam. Aside from Sunday Silence, Harthill also asserted that he administered Clenbuterol, Sublimaze & Etorphine, to other top-tier horses Ferdinand, Spend a Buck, Wild Again, Alysheba, Skywalker, Gate Dancer, Sunny's Halo, Gato Del Sol, Deputed Testamony, Winning Colors, Lil E. Tee, Summer Squall & Black Tie Affair. Harthill also proclaimed that he was proud that he inaugurated the use of Clenbuterol, & regularly used Clenbuterol in the 1980's & 1990's. Harthill also affirmed that a common practice of his was to inject illegal long-acting steroid drugs into the injured areas of horses he treated. The drugs Harthill administered were being used to improve a horse's performance, & they were REMARKABLY EFFECTIVE. Harthill was the vet that manipulated horse races & he Publicly Acknowledged Doing So many times. The US DEA filed suit against Alex Harthill on 102 charges of possessing & using unusual quantities of these & other drugs. Alex Harthill & drugs have led to the destruction of integrity in racing. Harthill was at the vanguard of giving drugs to horses that were used to vastly enhance their performances, & they were remarkably effective turning good horses into great horses, bad horses into good horses, slower horses into faster horses, horses with no business winning doing so, & causing horses to run far over their heads. Harthill was a vet who had stolen a 30 length lead in the race to discover drugs that would significantly move up racehorses, & Harthill had no hesitancy in using whatever was available. Harthill was a magic man vet practicing the dark arts of racehorse manipulation. Harthill was arrested many times for tampering, bribery & doping horses with drugs. Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history. Harthill's innovation in this area got him arrested many times for illegally injecting horses with numerous drugs & for public bribery. Harthill bribed state officials to throw away positive drug tests from horses that he had treated, & lost his license in many states. In no other major sport does an owner, coach, trainer or doctor have the ability, through working with several entrants in the same event, to directly affect the outcome. Harthill was a crooked vet who administered these & other performance enhancing drugs to his horses. Harthill was the most important factor in countless outcomes of numerous races. Harthill made Bob Baffert, Rick Dutrow, etc., look like Altar Boys. Harthill said, 'I was used for horses pointing for, & running in, MAJOR RACES who NEEDED DRUGS & had INFIRMITIES. I earned the reputation I had. I am very proud of the horses I helped WITH DRUGS IN THEIR CAREERS. Drugs always go through changing stages of being detected on drug tests. What I focused on was what drugs enhanced performance, together with what drugs could conceal illegal drugs, along with what drugs didn't show up on drug tests. For these reasons, I gave my horses a considerable advantage. Trainers would say, Don't get me caught, but keep me worried. Even though a horse is 5 or 7 times larger than humans, the amount of dope needed to have an effect is so small. An amount on the tip of a match would be enough to flick up a horse's nose to get a spectacular result. By the time they got my horses to the starting gate they’d be leaping out of their skin. I administered illegal drugs throughout my career that INCREASED the performances of racehorses IN CLASSIC RACES, & almost all of the time I did so, my horses won. You can only revere the horses whom my horses defeated even more, to do all they were asked to do, just to fall a slight bit short of horses who had been given performance-enhancing drugs by myself. By doing so, I acknowledge that I effectively stole a large amount of money in my career, & cheated many other horses, trainers, owners & riders I competed against. Nonetheless, I consider my extensive doping as a mark of pride.' "

The drug-reliant & illegal criminal veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant sunday silence's legs went rubber, & ss was a broken horse; & ss was beyond tired he was dead & cremated, pulverized, shattered and obliterated by the True Drug-Free Hall of Fame Champion Easy Goer in the Drug-Free Test of a Champion which was run in the only state in the entire country at the time which banned all drugs, & as importantly also banned ss's illegal criminal veterinarian Alex Harthill as well. The drug-reliant & illegal criminal veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant sunday silence had nothing left, emptied out, legs went rubber, never got out of 1st gear, was run into the ground, & was so exhausted even with all of his performance enhancing drugs; ss without all of his ped drugs & without his illegal criminal vet Alex Harthill ss got cremated & obliterated & ss's legs completely melted getting pulverized & buried so deep into the grave by the True Drug-Free Hall of Fame Champion Easy Goer. Harthill admitted in 2001 to DRF's Jay Hovdey that he illegally administered illegal performance enhancing drugs (Clenbuterol, Sublimaze, Etorphine, etc) to the pulverized ss. 1989 Belmont Stakes was the Perfect example of just how Superior Easy Goer could be and just how much more Natural Talent he had over his Rival....Distance was not the problem for Sunday Silence....Easy Goer effortlessly cruised past him on the "far turn"....Easy Goer was not far back during this race or pinned on the rail or blocked or Multiple moves during the race...This race along with Many other Performances by Easy Goer was why he was more highly regarded than his Rival even during losses...Easy Goer had ran many other eye popping performances outside his matchups with his rival as well....Easy Goer had more Natural talent than Sunday Silence

Yeah, he was the darling of the New York Press Box--where I was when he won the Champagne. I saw the fever. I heard the gasps. I also said to myself, "I've seen this be mania before--in a bar full of young stockbrokers on Wall Street. They all swore the bull market would make them millionaires before they were 30. To a man, they came back to earth the next day. Easy Goer WAS more highly regarded that n Sunday Silence--but only by his most fanatical fans after the Classic. When the voting for Horse of the Year was tallied in January of '90 Sunday Silence had 223 to Easy Goer's four. Yeah, he was more highly regarded when the dust settled.

Both were tremendously gifted and exceptional thoroughbreds. Given a year between them, either would've easily been the dominate 3YO of that season without question. I personally have kind of two different perspectives on how I come down about which was the better horse? Head to head, there's no doubt that whatever it was, being in the starting gate with Easy Goer stirred Sunday Silence's blood to a boiling point to run like no other horse he ever faced. As the old saying goes, "mathematics don't lie," with Sunday Silence winning 3 out of 4 head to head meetings lifetime. That being said, there's an argument to be made for Easy Goer as well. What he accomplished during his 3YO campaign in New York was unheard of, and I'm doubtful will ever be accomplished again in what's left of my lifetime anyway. After defeating Sunday Silence in the G1 Belmont Stakes to deny his bid for the Triple Crown, Easy Goer would go on to win the G1 Travers Stakes, G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, G1 Whtney Handicap, and G1 Woodward Stakes. It goes without saying it takes an incredibly gifted horse to win all of those races in succession against the top 3YO(Travers Stakes) and older horses(JCGC, Whitney Handicap, & Woodward Stakes). I'm not entirely convinced that was a feat that could've been accomplished by Sunday Silence as a 3YO, but that's speculation on my part. That's why I usually just stick to saying both were incredibly talented, gifted thoroughbreds. As for breeding, we'll never know for sure what kind of effect Easy Goer could've had on US racing, as he died as a relatively young stallion as an 8YO. Sunday Silence, even though none of the moronic breeders in the states were willing to give him a chance, I would argue is one of the most influential stallions in the history of breeding. Japan turned out to be the perfect gene pool for Sunday Silence, and he became a 13-time leading sire in Japan from 1995-2008, surpassing the previous record of Northern Taste who was a 10-time leading sire in Japan. Of the 22 G1 events in Japan, the offspring of Sunday Silence have won 20 out of 22 of those G1 races. Many of Sunday Silence's sons have also gone on to become successful breeding stallions also, with at least 17 of them having sired Group/Grade 1 winners as well. Some of those include the likes of Stay Gold, sire of Orfevre, Gold Ship, & Dream Journey. Manhattan Cafe, sire of Hiruno d'Amour, Red Desire, & Queens Ring. Heart's Cry, who sired Just A Way, Admire Rakti, & Cheval Grand, and perhaps his most famous son Deep Impact, who has sired Gentildonna, Deep Brillante, Kizuna, Harp Star, Makahiki, Shonan Pandora, & A Shin Hikari(also a G1 winner in Europe). Deep Impact is also responsible for having sired G1 winners on turf in Europe which include the likes of Saxon Warrior(English 2000 Guineas), Beauty Palour(French 1000 Guineas), Study of Man(French Derby), & Fancy Blue(French Oaks & Nassau Stakes).

Personally i feel Easy Goer was obviously the more naturally talented horse...Sunday Silence obviously was a Great horse but His Trainer at that time was SUPERIOR to the young Shug as a Trainer and Pat Day was too patient aboard Easy Goer...BC Classic was perfect example...Whittingham had Sunday Silence Lightly raced and VERY well rested heading into Classic...Shug had Easy Goer on a LONG Grueling campaign leading into Classic and Pat Day left a TON of horse on the Track that day...Shug should have Skipped the 12F Jock Club Prep right before the Classic...Easy Goer also only had 2 weeks rest heading into Derby...Shug used Easy Goer to put himself on the Map as a Top young Trainer while Whittingham was already a Legend and had his Horse always READY for the Big race

Never ever forget that it means as much or as little as all the scoreboards always reading (and never forgetting) Noor 4, Citation 1; Beau Purple 3, Kelso 1; Cabrini Green 4, John Henry 0; Darby Creek Road 3, John Henry 0; Gallant Bloom 4, Shuvee 1; Akureyri 3, Pleasant Colony 1; Big Spruce 2, Forego 1; Damascus 2, Dr Fager 2; Formal Gold 4, Skip Away 2; Billy Kelly 8, Sir Barton 4; Star of Cozzene 3, Kotashaan 1; and an endless amount more. In the Test of the Champion drug-free Belmont Stakes Easy Goer killed s.s; like heart-filled drug-free wheat separating from heart-less drugged chaff, the heart-filled drug-free cream rose to the top. Never forget. Easy Goer ran drug-free in the only state in the entire country at the time which banned all drugs, which banned all performance enhancing drugs; while the drug-reliant and corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. got exposed badly and romped when he was forced to run drug-less with no-drugs at all. Never forget. The great drug-free Hall of Fame champion Easy Goer showed the world how to obliterate the drug-reliant sunday silence. The litmus test of a champion is running and winning drug-less without any performance enhancing drugs; and during that era New York was the only state in the entire country that banned all drugs. Plus, as importantly, New York didn't allow the magic man corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian of s.s. Alex Harthill [arrested an endless amount of times for illegally doping/juicing an endless amount of horses] to perform his magic and juice the drug-reliant and magic man corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. During that era, it was a huge credit to NY [and the rest of the whole world] that the endless amount of their championship G1 races stood as humongous, gigantic obstacles to drug-dependent horses like s.s.; and these horses, like s.s. and many others, got exposed badly when they were forced to run drug-less with no-drugs at all. Never forget. ONLY no-drugs drug-less races were/are true championship races. Only the drug-less no-drugs races could/can be called championship races. No-drug races kept/keep the outcomes crystal clear. No-drug races are the only true tests of champions. Never forget. That is integrity, honesty, fair play and complete fairness for all. The drug-free Hall of Fame Champion Easy Goer was the better horse than the drug-reliant and corrupt crooked criminal crook juicer doper veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant s.s. In the drug-free EG's few very slim losses by the narrowest of margins to the drug-reliant s.s., s.s. needed all of his performance enhancing drugs administered to him and still only beat him by the slimmest of margins. Plus, The drug-free Easy Goer won G1 races at 7f, 1 mile, 9f, 10f and 12f drug-free with much less time and rest between races and running many more races at more fluctuating, different distances in faster times with far superior speed figures and performance ratings; while the drug-reliant s.s. only won G1 races at 9f to 10f with his ped drugs and much more time and rest between races and running far less races. And most importantly, Alex Harthill confessed to illegally giving illicit, illegal performance enhancing drugs to s.s. I quote the DRF for the factual truths: "Harthill, toward the end of his life, was BOLD ENOUGH to tell Jay Hovdey of the Daily Racing Form how he illegally gave numerous horses (including Clenbuterol to SS) illegal drugs. Sunday Silence's veterinarian Alex Harthill ADMITTED illegally breaking the laws in enhancing his horses performances. In DRF articles in recent years & in the last few years of his life, SSilence's vet Alex Harthill ADMITTED to illegally using the immensely effective performance enhancing bronchodilator clenbuterol regularly in the 1980's 15 years before it was approved by the FDA on his horses, INCLUDING using it on sunday silence. SS's vet Alex Harthill introduced the incredibly effective performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol in the 1980's & illegally administered it to Sunday Silence, who benefited immeasurably by its immensely effective performance enhancing effects. The drug Clenbuterol performed miracles for horses who made inexplicable improvements with major enhancements in performance. The drug Clenbuterol has a similar effect on the body as epinephrine & amphetamines by increasing the production of epinephrine & noradrenaline & thus significantly enhancing performance; clenbuterol also thins blood & widens the vessels that carry oxygen, so the volume of oxygen in the blood increases & thus significantly increases energy & thus significantly enhances performance; plus clenbuterol dramatically reduces body fat by causing rapid fat burning. The drug Clenbuterol performed miracles for horses who made inexplicable improvements with major enhancements in performance. Some of Harthill's other favorite magic making performance enhancing drugs were Etorphine (infinitely more powerful than the aspirin-like bute), Banamine (5 times more powerful than the aspirin-like bute) and Sublimaze. The drugs Etorphine and Sublimaze are drugs that give horses such a sense of euphoria and well-being that they feel like they don’t have legs. Sunday Silence's vet Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration filed suit against Alex Harthill on 102 charges of possessing & using unusual quantities of controlled drugs, such as the powerful performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol, powerful steroids, loop diuretics, extremely powerful painkillers & very strong amphetamines, etc. Alex Harthill & raceday performance enhancing drugs have led to the destruction of integrity in North American racing. Harthill was arrested many times (Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, NY,etc) for tampering, bribery & doping horses with drugs. The drugs were & are so potent that their use or nonuse dramatically alters horse's performances (including SS). Sunday Silence's vet Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history." Besides Harthill admitting it to the DRF, there is the CERTAINTY of MOUNDS of more evidence regarding Harthill's illegalities. Never ever forget indeed!

The drug-reliant & illegal criminal veterinarian Alex Harthill-reliant sunday silence "took" the infinitely powerful & potent performance enhancing bronchodilator drug Clenbuterol, the infinitely powerful & potent diuretic Furosemide Lasix, Sublimaze (So Infinitely powerful that it makes horses feel like they don't even have legs, & Infinitely more powerful than aspirin bute ), Etorphine (So Infinitely powerful that it makes horses feel like they don't even have legs, & Infinitely more powerful than aspirin bute), Banamine (50 times more powerful than the aspirin Bute) & Aspirin Bute in EVERY race in his career except ONE, the 1 race ss was forced to run drug-free without any drugs at all in the only state in the whole country at the time which banned all drugs - & as importantly also banned ss's illegal criminal vet Alex Harthill as well. Back then in the Daily Racing Form Newspapers Past Performances, the DRF published for every horse in every race OUTSIDE NY who was administered the powerful performance enhancing diuretics (Furosemide Lasix, etc), powerful painkillers (Banamine, etc), & the aspirin-like Bute & they were listed in every daily DRF. ss was listed as being administered the drugs (Furosemide Lasix, Banamine, Bute, etc), while EG was listed as NOT being administered any drugs at all, none at all. EG's owners were Chairmen of the Jockey Club & were the staunchest opponents of drugs & ran their horses without any drugs even when running outside drug-free NY based on integrity, honesty, fair play & practicing what they preached. Plus, the Drug-Free Hall of Fame Champion Easy Goer ran mostly in the only state in the entire country at the time which banned ALL drugs. The drug-reliant & illegal criminal vet Alex Harthill-reliant ss "took" the powerful performance enhancing diuretic Furosemide Lasix (during that era legal in all US states except only one - NY), Banamine (50 times more powerful than the legal aspirin-like bute, but during that era legal in all US states except only one - NY), the legal aspirin-like Bute (during that era legal in all US states except only one - NY), the illegal powerful performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol, the illegal Etorphine (infinitely more powerful than the legal aspirin-like bute), & the illegal Sublimaze (infinitely more powerful than the aspirin-like bute). See below for the effects of the illegal Clenbuterol. The illegal drugs Etorphine & Sublimaze are drugs that gave/give horses such a sense of euphoria & well-being that they feel like they don’t have legs. Furosemide Lasix, a potent diuretic, was/is the main drug which masks other drugs & flushes other banned drugs. US Vet Assoc.: "The drug Lasix is absolutely performance enhancing & also acts a diuretic making horses lose weight giving them an advantage while making them run faster at the same time. In a study of 23,000 races by American Veterinary Medical Association, Horses that received the drug lasix raced faster, earned more money, & were more likely to win or finish in the top 3 positions than horses that did not. The study showed a 6 LENGTH difference with Lasix than without. Another reason for the performance-enhancing effects of lasix is the acute reduction in body weight that occurs after lasix administration. Administration of lasix shows to induce up to 4% reduction in body weight within 4 hours. Because work is a product of mass, velocity & distance, that loss of this amount of weight has a significantly beneficial effect on the athletic ability of lasix-treated horses. Lasix-induced reduction in body weight increases the maximal rate of oxygen consumption, reduces accumulated oxygen deficit & rate of lactate production, & decreases the rate of carbon dioxide production of horses during intense exercise, delaying the onset of fatigue & increasing the oxygen going to muscles." Most importantly, Alex Harthill confessed to illegally giving illegal performance enhancing drugs to ss. I quote the DRF for the factual truths: "Sunday Silence's veterinarian Alex Harthill, toward the end of his life, was BOLD ENOUGH to tell me (Jay Hovdey of the Daily Racing Form) how he illegally gave numerous horses illegal drugs, including Clenbuterol to Sunday Silence. Harthill ADMITTED to illegally breaking the laws in enhancing his horses performances. Harthill ADMITTED to illegally using the immensely effective performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol regularly in the 1980's, 15 years before it was approved by the FDA, on his horses, INCLUDING using it on sunday silence. Harthill introduced the incredibly effective performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol in the 1980's & illegally administered it to Sunday Silence, who benefited immeasurably by its immensely effective performance enhancing effects. The drug Clenbuterol has a similar effect on the body as epinephrine & amphetamines by increasing the production of epinephrine & noradrenaline, & thus significantly enhancing performance. Clenbuterol also thins blood & widens the vessels that carry oxygen, so the volume of oxygen in the blood increases, & thus significantly increases energy, & thus significantly enhances performance; plus clenbuterol dramatically reduces body fat by causing rapid fat burning. The drug Clenbuterol performed miracles for horses who made inexplicable improvements with major enhancements in performance. Some of Harthill's other favorite magic making performance enhancing drugs that he administered were Etorphine, Banamine & Sublimaze. The drugs Etorphine & Sublimaze are drugs that give horses such a sense of euphoria & well-being that they feel like they don’t have legs. The US DEA filed suit against Alex Harthill on 102 charges of possessing & using unusual quantities of these & other drugs, such as the powerful performance enhancing bronchodilator Clenbuterol, powerful steroids, loop diuretics, extremely powerful painkillers, & very strong amphetamines, etc. Alex Harthill & drugs have led to the destruction of integrity in North American racing. Harthill was at the vanguard of giving drugs to horses that were used to vastly enhance their performances, & they were remarkably effective turning good horses into great horses, bad horses into good horses, slower horses into faster horses, horses with no business winning doing so, & causing horses to run far over their heads. Sunday Silence's vet Alex Harthill did more cheating with drugs to win horse races than any vet in history." Besides Harthill admitting it to the DRF, there is the CERTAINTY of MOUNDS of more evidence regarding Harthill's illegalities. Case closed
