Quick extemporaneous overview of the basic features of TE Tuner! Just the basic beginner guide. Sorry about the glare! I'll do better with that next time.

I had no idea this app would do so much. I love the at home tuning exercises. But how do you set it to light up the pitch being heard in the center?
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 4 жыл бұрын
The menu across the bottom should give you what you want. "Tuner" or "Sound" both show the tuning and note name.

thank you for the video! Really helpful, it's giving this app a new life to me! I was wondering if there is an option to record a song and then check the notes in the analysis tool. It would be great to see in the score mode the song so you could check your accuracy!
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen

Hi! If you look under "analysis", swipe right on the screen, and a recording button will appear!" Then you have some different ways to analyze and listen back. Enjoy!

How can I use TE Tuner to check intonation on a phrase in a song? I see that I can set the pitch to sustain...is that the ideal way or are there other visual ways? Wondering if as I sing and move off the tonal center, will the visual display look like I am singing out of tune since I won't always be singing the sustained pitch? Hope that question makes sense!
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 4 жыл бұрын
Great question! I'll see if I can address this more fully in a future video, but if you use headphones that have a mic in them (many phones come with these!), you can listen to a sustained pitch through the headphones, and the app will respond to what you're singing so you can check ANY individual note! You'll just need to hold the note in question long enough for it to register.

@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 2 жыл бұрын
Hi - were you able to figure this out? The menu along the bottom (tuner, sound, analysis, metro, prefs) should give you what you want. You can have the metronome running WHILE you're in the tuner, but if you want full met functionality, you need to click "metro" on the bottom.

Do you recommend Pythagorean as Alternate Temperament for BBS music?
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 4 жыл бұрын
Just now seeing this comment - the chords in Barbershop should be tuned using Just (or "perfect") intonation. Where pythagorean comes in is a bit complicated - we really try to tune the "root movement" (the root of each chord going from one chord to the next) with that system. That will help keep the tonal center as things move around. But, we're all a bit imperfect, and it's a bit of a negotiation at times (like if one part is holding a note as chords move around it)! The ear always wins. =)

What settings do you recommend for sitting intonation on a 6th string electric?
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 2 жыл бұрын
You’ll want to set it to equal temperament for that so that all keys will be equal.

@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen 5 ай бұрын
The colors above show how sharp/above pitch it is... closer to the center, the closer to "in tune". Same below, but that shows under pitch/flat. Cheers!

@@VocalWarmupsWithKathleen Thank you, that's good to know. I have a new hammered dulcimer (a rather big one) and it is still "breaking in". So in the beginning I have to tune almost daily which takes 45 to 90 minutes per day. Then it is helpful to have a precise tuner.
