People think Im crazy, but at work after the coffee is made I take the large used Bunn coffee filter and dry it out and use it in my journaling and crafts! Free craft supplies! Yes, I also save tea bags!

Lovely...I've boxes saved...I thought they'd also be lovely stamped...with their transparency, adding a lovely disappearing layer in a work.... I'd love to learn the name and brand of the metallic blue paint you used! Thank you!

Hi Vicki-the paint is from Decoart. It is Texture metallic paint in Deep Turquoise.

Beautiful, Sandra! If you seal the tea bags with a UV protectant, will that prevent the colors from fading?

It will help, maybe not 100% but much improved.

What's the best way to tone down a bright painting, meaning a wash of some sort?

It really depends on your palette but generally speaking you can tone it down by using the opposite color. If your painting has a lot of bright green and you want to push it down a notch, use a glaze of red.

I’ve tried multiple times to use teabags but mine never have any color/staining...even hibiscus. They’re just solid white/pale gray with no interest at all. Any suggestions?

Try using ModgePodge or Decoupage from DecoArt. That is what I used. I was surprised by the color so maybe that's the key.

Sandra Duran Wilson ok thanks...except yours are very colorful to begin with. Mine have zero color, not even pale beige. What brand tea are you using?

I am using Tazo tea quart size bags. I think it is called Passion Tea. It also has rose hips in it.

But the regular black tea bags also got nice color. I had put a few in the pot with the Tazo tea.
