My rescue 2 pound albino chi was like that. She would yelp when picked up. I’ve had her for almost 10 years now and although she doesn’t do that anymore she still has trust issues when being picked up by someone else. She is absolutely the best dog I have ever had and it infuriates me that she had that past and still remembers it.

I've just adopted an abused Yorkie. She got rescued from a puppy mill. She's a frightful miniature; we've fortunately been able to bond already, but I'd love to teach her to play and have fun. These lovely doggies deserve a chance to have a better life!

They should have said how long that took for each stage. I know for sure when he got one success for a skill he was nowhere near done w/ it. It would take weeks of work for most but I bet he could get it pretty good w/in a couple of days.

Sure there's a way to stop a dog from barking. But what do you do when you have a healthy dog that does not want to bark?

I used to train dogs when I was younger and honestly, the whole "not repeating commands" is complete bullshit. I've had far more luck repeating the command consistently with different indications until success. Delayed commands take so much longer and often I feel like if the dog is distracted, it can prevent them from understanding what you want.

@@SpencerFcp if you repeat the command the dog is gonna learn to listen the third or fourth time you say it. I'm a dog trainer/behaviorist for 6 years. I'v learned from the best in the world. I know what I am talking about. Dogs are very smart but they learn with one-word commands. If the dog is distracted, get away from the distraction instead of using the word again. slowly go back up to distraction. You was probably taught wrong idk.
