Been in China for 7 years now, came here straight after Uni for some teaching experience. Hilarious stories Don, I think everyone who's been here has a few to share, too right though about hitting the ceiling in regards to career progression. But hey, I wake up every morning loving my job and that's something that'd be hard to get back home and the 3 B's culture, Beer, Binglang and BBQ have me hooked.

As a former teacher in China, these stories are making me feel like I'm in the bar with my buddies after a long week of teaching shooting the shit. I haven't been in China since the pandemic, so these Donnie Did videos you've been uploading have been such a great way for me to feel connected to a country I miss very much. I’ve been teaching in Thailand a little over 12 years now and I hate teaching high schoolers, 13-15 are the worst. The government schools which are basically the equivalent to public schools in America are even worse. I remember my first job was me teaching 14-15 year olds, 50 students a class, over 500 students, no a/c, and I had to prepare all the lessons. I refuse to work like that again, after school tutoring schools are the best. Small classes, a/c, weekly pay. Still good memories and wouldn’t change it for the world, but never again.

Awesome stories, and relatable. Currently teach English in China but once tutored English in Moscow. Worst experience ever. Most common - I'd showed up for a lesson, recognized the guy or girl was a complete asshole, and I asked "What happened to your previous English tutors? "Oh they all had to go back to America/England." Lol. Also taught a lot of wealthy business people. More money = increased time poverty. They'd cancel almost every lesson. I'd rush to their apt., text them - "Oh we're in France. We'll be back in September. Have a great Summer." 💩
