What an understatement.....'the WHA is in for a terrific year when they see those swedes play'....the Jets changed north American hockey forever! Thanks Bobby, Ulf, Anders and the rest for a lifetime of memories!

Bobby Hull bringing European players to the WHA was one of the great innovations in hockey. Hull should be known as a great innovator as well as a great player.

Met this gentleman many times, and my family and I were always greeted with such warmth! Bobby Hull farmed, the same as us, loved the outdoors, and obviously loves hockey, the same as all Canadians. He always looked up to Gordie Howe, and many others, because of the respect he learned as a kid. Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull lead hockey through the lean years, showing the way of ultimate respect to all that watched the game. They paved the way for the salaries and respect players get to this day. Forever respected, Bobby, Gordie, Bobby Orr and of course Wayne Gretzky. Rest in peace, Gordie, you gave us many great memories.

Great comments, too bad you ruined it by mentioning Gretzky in the same breath as these real men!

I was part of the all star WCHL junior team that played exhibition games against these two prior to their meeting the Russians. My first game was in Brandon. Played left wing, started the game against Howe, Bernier and Hull. I was 17 and was playing for the Edmonton Oilkings, Howe said...keep your head up lid"....our camp was in Calgary prior to playing them, this where I got to know Bryan Trottier who was with Swift current at the time and we hung out....I made a lot of friends...lastly remember being on the plane with the WHA Allstars and Reggie Houle trying to sing "I shot the sheriff"...He wasn't bad.....

Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull were really more like mythical gods on the ice than actual human beings. The strength and power of these two transcended the game. People talk about how great the russians were, but like everyone else they had no answer for these two or for the fabulous bobby orr. In all truth there have never been greater players than richard, beliveau, orr, hull, gretzky and lemieux. Yet Gordie transcends anyone who ever played because of his incredible longevity. What separates the great Canadian players from even the greatest russians is the physical size and skill but more importantly the toughness. The greatest canadian players had more of those attributes than anyone else. That is the honest and unprejudiced truth.

Yup, "The Over The Hill Gang" vs the Russian Napkins! (Soviets) lol I watched that series at 21 years old. I'm 66 now, and still am honored to have been able to see this man play hockey for years! He is in the top 3 in my books as best ever player in hockey! Orr and Howe just ahead of him. Hawks mgmt mismanaged their dynasty team for years! Trading Espo to Broons for Pit Martin! Probably the worst trade ever in history of hockey. I missed out on seeing the Cup raised by Hull for so long bc of the Hawks mgmt screwing up so much. Dollar Bill Worst forcing Bobby to go to WHA in '72 broke my heart also. Years of frustration as a 50ish year Hawks fan!

Hull had monster hands, wrists and forearms as well as big biceps. Freakish strength.

Most offensive player in NHL history, I have seen them all, met them all, dinied with them all. I guess cause this guy supposedly slapped around a woman, he never gets talked about. Guy was easily, easily the best player who ever played in the NHL.
