What drives me insane is Alicent's son is sobbing in one room over the loss of his baby, her daughter is mentally deteriorating in another room over the loss of her baby, her other son is grieving in a brothel, her father was just fired, and instead of comforting any of them, she decides to ONCE AGAIN go sleep with the guy who had a hand in ALL OF IT. I actually feel very sorry for Halaena and even Aegon this episode. But Alicent? The whole episode, she is more concerned with whether or not Halaena and Sir Crispy have told on her. Like for F's sake. Be a mother and a grandmother for once.

Both sides ended up weaker by the end of the episode from internal conflicts. All things Rhaenyra said to Daemon has weight, but it was the wrong thing to do strategically at the moment. Aegon is understandably fueled by rage, but Otto too good of a schemer to send away at the moment. HoTD is just so good at showing how human emotions get in the way of reasoning.

I still don't like Otto, but I really enjoyed him this episode. He had me thinking of that Scar quote from The Lion King, "I'm surrounded by idiots.", great acting by Rhys Ifans. It's also pretty funny how both he and Alicent, at this point, think making Aegon king was a mistake. Friggin' Ser Crispin, I watch him now and I can't believe I ever liked him in season 1, he's the worst. I'm sad to see Ser Erryk go though, I liked him. That whole fight and everything, it's just sad that it had to happen that way. I'm curious what's gonna happen with Daemon and Rhaenyra going forward. The season's been fantastic so far and I'm looking forward to next week!

Lmao Daemon did ask for a son for a son. Of course he lied to Rhaenyra, who is clearly displeased about having a child murdered. Is this truly shocking to people? Daemon definitely just wanted blood. Blood and Cheese said “A son for a son, HE said.” We only see Daemon tell Blood and Cheese to kill Aemond Targaryen. They ask Daemon if they can’t find him, then who. Daemon then gave them a little smirk.

Duty was the death of love for Erryk and Arryk. The reason the Blood and Cheese scene was so different is because, to do it by the book would require the other child to be awake, covered in blood, and screaming during the whole event and the writers didnt want to traumatize them like that.

The writing literally had rhaenyra spoon feed it to the audience that Daemon did not care as long as it was someone. Cmon

The bath tub scene with alicent is really powerful. It’s like she is covered in so much blood “on her hands” the only way to clean herself is to completely submerge herself under water. This show is really great at showing and not telling.

Alicent and Cole are hypocrites, hating Rhaenyra for the same act they are doing right now, and in Rhaenyra's old room too , they are obsessed. I bet both of them imagine her while doing it.

The actors for both Otto and Aegon were so good this episode, acted their asses off in the council scene and the scene with Otto, Aegon, and Crispy chicken

Aegon is making stupid decisions. But his two year old baby boy JUST get gruesemly murdered in his own bed not a couple nights before - and everyone is telling him to chill and hang out and see how things play out. That's the smart thing to do, but easy to suggest by people who didn't just lose their child. The fact that Aegon has shown the restraint to not immediately hop on his dragon and get his brother to get on his, and fly out and burn everything he can to the ground, is nothing short of miraculous. If Otto's two year old Alicent was murdered in her bed, he'd be begging the king to take action and fly out.

To be honest, Aegon hanging all the ratcatchers is good for their security. Maegor the Cruel got those secret tunnels built and killed all the workers that built the Red Keep to keep them hidden. The ratcatchers having access to the tunnels that open to the royal apartments became their biggest weakness and resulted in a toddler's death. i know Aegon wasn't thinking about keeping the Red Keep secure and impenetrable when he did it, but it's not 100% as dumb a move as Otto makes it out to be.. (Also Otto said sending the twin was a dumb move too but he got right to Rhaenyra's room didn't he? So in a way the disguise was actually perfect.. Even if he didn't kill Rhaenyra they made them feel unsafe in Dragonstone the same way they felt in the Red Keep. Otto is hella smart in politicking but he's too cautious and conservative in this case when daring wild moves was what got Jaehaerys killed and only daring unpredictable moves can get back at the Blacks for it.. The path forward is pure madness and chaos..) By the way Daemon did say to Blood and Cheese that he wanted "a son for a son". They ask him what to do when they cant find Aemond and he just smirks and it cuts away. Later during the assassination Blood says "He said a son for a son, does she look like a fcking son to you?" He definitely didn’t care what Greens blood it was, he just wanted heads to roll regardless of consequence and tried to deflect when confronted by Rhaenyra, saying "hey the guys fucked up.. i didn’t say kill the little boy... whoops... it wasn't my order..🤷🏼‍♂️" he definitely is guilty and he damn well knew these two idiots couldn’t kill Aemond so it wasn’t even an accident that the boy was killed.. ALSO FINALLY DAERON IS MENTIONED!! I always hated why they never mentioned in the first season that Viserys had 4 children with Alicent, 3 boys and a girl. The youngest Daeron was sent to Oldtown to be fostered by Alicent's brother and will come into play later on. He should be around Jace's age at this point and is one of my favorite characters.

Spoilers for the book: I fucking love Rhaenyra but I hope the writers don't sugarcoat the bad decisions she makes and the paranoia.

Honestly my favorite episode so far from the entire series. The way the show depicts slowly the corruption of power within each other and both sides is so well written. I never ever really debrief an episode but this one really made me excited to think about.

I'm glad they *finally* mentioned Alicent and Viserys' 4th child, Daemon the Daring. BUT, I find it so odd that there has been zero mention of him until now and then he is suddenly and casually brought up in conversation. I read that Daeron was not cast for season 2, so maybe we will see him in season 3.

Daemon doesn't specifically ask them to kill the kid but in this episode he is absolutely lying to Rhaenyra when he says he was perfectly clear in his instructions. Last episode when cheese asks "what if we cant find Aemond?" Its strongly implied Daemon answers "A son for a son" which is obviously the least clear thing you could possibly say 😂. I cant blame blood and cheese for understanding that any son will do from those instructions. I do blame them for being horrible people though and Daemon too for his lack of clarity there. Being vague in that situation is equivalent to endorsing of their horrible actions I think.

Lol, I think people forget that Aegon never wanted to be a king in his life, and he said back in the first season, he knows that his father didn't choose him because he didn't care about him, but his mother convinced him, that he changed his mind. And now Otto is still mocking him, saying that he was not chosen, although he himself put him on the throne. People who choose Otto's side in this dispute just don't think, and love simple smart words. His little son was killed and no one cares about it, they are trying to build a policy out of it

Aegon coild have asked Blood or HALAENA to identify Cheese but he doesnt want to do that. Killing all the rat catchers tells the people he is not afraid of mass bloodshed, so do not F with him. He wanted them to love him last episodd and then 2 of them came for his kid.

Aegon was crying about his son more so… also- he has just as much claim as Rhaenyra lol so no he’s not a fraud. Both have a solid claim. (Aegons is even more so if they go by tradition)

-All the seeds appeared on screen this episode, excluding one that i think might have been cut/merged -Daeron was finally name dropped (he was a sigil on the last season's intro, the cup sigil from Alicent blood line because hes a cupbearer at Oldtown) -There was a massive premonition shot of Jace with Baela (i bit my hand when it appeared on screen lol) -Mushroom was so spot on that he should have been a character in this adaptation -Alicent sexual liberation arc feels weird -Phia Saban and Rhys Ifans (Haelena, Otto) actors CRUSHED this episode.. -Caraxes and Daemon going to Harrenhal is just amazing to see his departure, its going to be a hectic arc for his character.. Don't worry guys it only gets crazy from here out..

Every Targeryan, when they are born a metaphorical coin is flipped to see if they come out crazy or normal. Daemon is the coin he has a smart, logical and kind site to him and a totally unhinged side.

I still don't feel like I can hate Aegon. His grief has brought out the crazy and psychopathic side in him, but that's not his fault. Criston Cole is the one reaching a whole new level of dislikeability, and i'm starting to get fed up with alicent too.

Also, notice how Alicent and Rhaenyra comfort their children. There's a HUGE difference. Alicent loves her children yes, but she is NOT a LOVING mother. 💔 She couldn't console her daughter and son; And look at Aemond seeking comfort in a brothel with a MILF. Instead, Alicent escapes her duties by sleeping with Cole. Even Alicent's own father cannot comfort her/listen to her problems. 😭ALSO, an apology for doubting Miseria for no reason...even her dialogue with the Queen showed she *wasn't* untrustworthy.

People can be very biased and that kills the whole vibe. And my comment is not for the guys reacting here or the supporters of any particular side. Not saying that they shouldn't choose sides, everyone is free to love and defend whichever character and team they like but when it becomes extreme it ruins all the fun. Even if someone is on one side that doesn't mean that they can't appreciate and sympathize with other team. They don't always have to hate on the other side. It beats the whole purpose of shows like got and hotd where every character is flawed.

The main issue with Daemon is that Rhaenyra take so much time to act that it's been costing her and has made Daemon reckless. Her taking all the time to mourn was too much. She thinks of her personal problems rather than seeing the whole picture. And seems to want to put things under the carpet like her dad.

The difference with Alicent sleeping with Ser Crispin, is Rhaenyra was an unmarried woman who was heir to the throne. Whereas Alicent was a Widow, she had fulfilled her duty. I think it is stupid to be mad at Daemon for not being with Rhaenyra while she was giving birth. The coup had just happened and Daemon knew that he needed to secure Dragonstone, make sure everyone there was loyal and ready for a possible attack, which was Otto’s immediate plan. What could have Daemon really done by being with her? The circumstances required for him to be vigilant and this time Rhaenyra was having trouble giving birth, which we could also assume Daemon didn’t want to experience again, after what happened to Laena.
