Tiff! 3 NICU patients? As in, level III or IV??? I’m a NICU nurse in England and I have up to 2 babies unless we’re talking special care. In SCBU I can have up to 4 to my name.

i’m america, it’s just nursing school. just apply to work in a nicu after you graduate nursing school

In England, you study 3 years at university to attain your Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Once completed, you can apply for a staff nurse position in a NICU. Then, when you’ve worked on a NICU for a minimum of 2 years, your manager will most likely start encouraging you to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (PGCert) to qualify you as a specialist Neonatal Nurse. The British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) provide a standard here for how many of these specialist nurses should be present on every shift according to patient acuity. I hope this is useful!
