I have a 78 2door Fairmont ,, could I run this 8.50 cert set up ??

dont weld the plates to the floor, tack the cage together in the car, but not to the floor or plates, slide the plates out cut holes just big enough to drop the cage down enough to weld the top, lift the cage back up slide the plates under and finish welding, or get a small torch head and remove the head liner and weld the top, we've done it both ways

+Tony Dew It's tight but it just takes some patents and talent, but if you can weld the rest of the cage you can do that!

Some shops are not set up to paint, but the customer can do it on their own kit,

It's really not that low but the placement of the windshield bar is so the headliner and Molding can be put back in if it has been removed, also if you want it up higher you can remove a little material from the bar with a barrel sander and slide it up higher!

No the hatch kit will not fit a convertible

srgrinch1 to weld the top you can cut out circles under the mounting plates before you start assembling the roll cage. Then when you have tacked in your roll cage and it’s semi strong remove your mounting plates and drop the cage down threw the holes and weld the top. You should have plenty of room to get to the top corners and anything else.You have to grind off some of the tacks, such as the door bars. If the cages tries to widen, you can take straps, like the ones you use to tie down furniture in the back of your pick up truck and ratchet the ends closer together to drop it threw the holes. And once the cage is fully welded on the top you can jus stitch weld the holes back in and weld the mounting plate over them so you won’t notice them. Works very well and it’s better than cutting the roof skin off and doing it that way. That’s my opinion!!!

+Al Sal ,out of the 343 cars we have built none have been built on the ground on their tires, they are usually built on a JIG or level and supported on Jack stands, once the car is level and in position to work on it the doors are checked for fitment and 99% of the time there are no issues! But thanks for your input there are many ways to skin a cat and your method may work for/ or help someone, Thanks!

+Russell N. TIG weld with 3/32 25 thorated tungsten, and if you are un sure of your ability practice first on some small pieces and put them in the same position as the joint you are un sure of and practice welding them!

I meant how to weld the joint with 360 degrees of weld. With the cage up and all tacked it access is limited. Your man did not explain the procedure. Is the info in the kit?

+Russell N. We have some talented welders and the weld good in tight places, if you cant do that you cut holes in the floor and drop it down to weld the tight places.

How do you drop through the floor. You are mounted to the subframe connectors? You are assuming all of your customers are talented welders that can weld 360 degrees and have done this before. I appreciate that you have a well fitted cage that is prenotched but you should go through a more thorough step by step. If not then add a bunch of gussets

pretty simple solution, don't weld the sub frame solid, just tack it in, get the cage tacked in than drop the outrigger from the sub frame connector through the floor and the cage can be droped and welded, then put it all back in and weld the sub frame in when done
