Good video. Always good practice to keep your machine clean. That oil procedure is a bit different than mine. My service calls for 1L in the case and 0.8L in the cooler. Your filter looks the same as mine 4" K&N. I just use the K&N cleaner and oil with the kit. Along with the wife's kitchen sink of course haha. 😎

Yeah, the oil thing is odd. Not sure what they are thinking there. Owners manual clearly states putting oil only in the tank, service manual is vague, just says put oil in. I do not think it makes any difference personally. I have done it both ways.

Maybe oil fill plug is removed to let air out so the oil fills the system faster?
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 3 жыл бұрын
Could be. My normal routine I actually add a quart to the oil fill, then add to the tank. Just quicker.

Aidan, for some reason your comment is not showing up. Yes, after cleaning my chain I do protect it. Oring style chains do not require being oiled at all like non-oring chains do. I am currently using a chain wax.

How often should you do a full maintenance like this
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils Жыл бұрын
Really depends on you and how you ride and quality of products you use. For oil changes, at least change it per your manual. The more you change it, the longer your clutch and engine will last. I race mine so it is used hard, I use full synthetic and change it every other race or every 3 hrs. This is overkill for normal riding but the oil comes oil looking as good as it goes in.

Nice video thank you! Can you please make a short video showing where did you put your powercommander? Im going to install a PCV in my bike, with the autotune module, and Im not sure where to place it, because I ride in very muddy and wet trails and most of the time under my seat there are a lot of mud, I was thinking to place maybe some foam around the PCV, but thats another thing to clean after every ride, so, If you share where do you have it it will be great. Some guys put it in the airbox, but how to take of the lid if the wires go out by the intake hole of the lid? Any recommendation or idea its very well appreciated, thank you!
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 5 жыл бұрын
I put it under the seat where the tool kit goes. Actually still yave the tools in there. Not 100 % protected so I put a blue shop towel over it to keep the dust off. High tech solution right there.

Thank you for your videos !! I wanted to ask you is it normal after 2-3 rides after changing oil that oil is black instead of clear? I also have a Raptor 700 2006 .
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how long the rides are and the type of oil. If you are in the 6-8 hours range, it could be black for sure, that is normal. If you change it often though, it helps from getting black. Just be sure to keep it full of oil, change it often with a new filter, and the raptor will last a long, long time.

Great video. Does it matter what type of grease you use in the grease gun ?
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 5 жыл бұрын
Just a good all-around bearing grease. I use marine wheel bearing grease as I use that on my boat and do not want two guns. It is good quality and water resistant to boot.

I've seen different videos of chain adjustment, some on blocks and some with the back tires on the ground, if you adjust it on blocks to where you like, is the chain supposed to tighten when you set it off the blocks? It always seems to be super tight when I take it off the blocks
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will change tension. Best to do it on the ground.

Makes it faster. I did not do it as the manual says put in the tank only. No wrong way. I usually put 1 in the clutch cover, and 1.25 in the tank and I am done.

Hey, you run the machine with the airbox lid off? With the “Big 3”, can you run with lid on just to be safe?
@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 5 жыл бұрын
I run with the lid off for less air restriction. I run through mud and water no problem. You want to make sure you have a pre-filter like one from Outerwears that will keep the water and mud off the filter and into the bottom of the box. You can keep the lid on but you may need to put in a new fuel map or jetting cause it won't have as much air. Pro_tek make a breathable lid but it is a little pricey.

@Team2Gils
@Team2Gils 8 ай бұрын
It shouldn't void your warranty as long as you use the proper oil. I have never had and issue with yamalube though. Some folks don't like it, but yamaha wouldn't recommend a bad oil as it would make all thier engines look inferior and no one would buy them. Not worth risking thier entire business over a $12 quart of oil. Whatever oil you choose, change it often, that is the key.
