Sokka has one of the greatest character developments Sokka season 1: tries to eat momo Sokka season 3: jumps in Appa’s mouth thinking he ate momo to save him Such great development.

He was also the elder of the group, and had to look after them. He kept them grounded and focussed on the mission, saw to their emotional needs, and generally acted as the parental figure. It was a huge responsibility for someone his age, considering he was dragging around three powder kegs including the Avatar. He was a foundation for them, providing them with their consistency that children and teenagers need - even if it's not what they want.

When we met Sokka he was just a boy. The boy became a wanderer the wanderer became a fighter the fighter became a warrior the warrior became a strategist the strategist became a man the man became a hero. Name me one other western cartoon where a supporting character got this character growth.

Even Azula recognised that he was a vital part of the team. Sokka was the only one to figure out that she was tricking them into wasting time, so she immediately went to attack him with talking about Suki because she knew if she got to him, she would win. Then when her bending returned the first one she attacked was Sokka. So even she knew he was the MVP of Team Avatar

The fact that sokka took part in the original capture of the red lotus (even though Zaheer was a non bender, he was more than capable of holding his own against multiple benders without) proves that sokka was a talented martial artist.

Sokka: the man among gods. The Batman/Iron Man of the group. No supernatural ability, no less formidable or deadly. Arguably, my favorite character development of the series, alongside Zuko.

I have a theory that Varrick is Sokka's son. -They're from Southern Water Tribe -They both are comic reliefs and shared the same goofiness -They both have girls as their assistant and always protect them (Sokka has his sister, Katara and Varrick has Zhu Li) -They both are smarts in their own way

He started as comic relief from the first 2 episode then quickly realize his arrogance and his flaws, and learn from those stronger than him. He realized that he is not a bender and he need to be stronger if he wishes to be helpful to his team, whether it is physically or intelligently stronger

No one ever talks about sokkas character development. Its more subtle than the rest but still very well developed- kudos to the writers!

Sokka's a prime example of how even a normal powerless character can be just as vital as those with powers, even more so than the MC themselves. He's so integral to the group that the rest of the gang relies on him for ideas and planning. Without him, they would've never made it as far as they did in the show. And it showed at times. Honestly, he and Zuko are quite possibly the two best-written and developed characters in the entire series.

His instincts are almost always correct and he comes up with solutions for any problem very quickly, and even changes plans when things don't work out the way he originally intended. He improvises to a lot too, but in very creative ways.

Ty lee is the greatest non bender combatant and bataar jr is the smartest non bender but sokka is the best mix of both factors

I love how Sokka and Suki went from Rivals to Lovers. Also, did anybody else notice that the swords master told him the same thing Suki then. Suki: "A fan is an extension of the arm." Swords master: "A sword is an extension of the arm
