@@TeamBensonHomestead they’re awesome, I planted so many sweet pepper plants in mine last year- so many peppers, so easy to maintain! You should be an affiliate with them bc they may send you one for free & you could get a kickback from them by promoting them & they’re really popular now so it would probably go over really well 😀I would love to see you plant in one!

I drilled out the center and put them in the middle of the picnic table with the umbrella pole running through. Looks really cool as a centerpiece and everyone compliments it and asks where I got it. But then it blocks everyone's faces when we want to talk. 😂 Next year, I'll drive rods in the ground and make a small wall out of them. I don't know if you have tractor supply houses, but they sell rods there. Maybe home Depot. They do dry out quickly and I rotate until the plants mature then they catch sun on their own. I shouldn't have punched out all the holes to retain moisture. Great video.

I just got mine this year, so I’m looking forward to planting in them. My Dollar Tree didn’t have them, but I ordered them online and now have a whole case to have fun growing in. I use my stackables indoors as a hydroponic set up with a PVC pipe in the center attached to a pump in a reservoir of nutrient solution. The pump is on a timer. Although, the stackables are on wheels, I have a variety of grow light configurations so I don’t have to rotate them for lighting purposes but can rotate them for easy access to harvest. I had a Greenstalk that was lost in a fire and hope to have more in the future but for now these stackables are great in the interim.

I have Greenstalks (6 now, with more on the way) and these stackables. I have grown indoor plants and small trees before, so I had a bunch of solid sturdy rolling pot holders and always grab them at yardsales and such places for cheap. I use these now under my stackables. My Greenstalks are always purchased with the rolling bases. My Greenstalks are best for the larger plants, or root crops because of the deeper pockets, but the stackable planters work well for shallower-rooted plants, lettuces, many ornamentals, and most annuals. Each type of planter has its best uses and its deficits, but you sure can save money and still get a garden to be proud of.

@@TeamBensonHomestead Thank you! Yep, our monsoons can be brutal!!! I've had great results with glazed clay type planters on the ground, but they can be expensive unless you find them used. They're heavy, and hold the moisture in without the soil going rancid like can happen in my plastic pots. WINCO has them on sale right now for ~$14-$20. God bless you! 🌼

I would definitely suggest E-6000 glue for anything outside and hot. I'm in Southeast Louisiana and this glue is heat/cold proof, and non-toxic once it's dry. The fumes are the bad part, but it works!

I love what you are doing but, I have to say, not all DollarTree stores carry the merchandise you have recommend. The stores by me have never carried the stackable pots. I had to order a case of them (luckily before the price increase) just to get started. I really didn’t want 36 of them but, oh well! I can’t wait to get them planted!

Please let me share a game changer for making holes. Use a sodder tool. It melts right through! No cracking.... Works great! I'm starting my second year with both Greenstalk and the stackables. First I'm going to say comparing the products is unrealistic. Quality, size, USA made, innovative water design, food grade, price are all night and day different - opposite! They both have their place and can be used effectively. The stackable I bought last year are depleted by weather, becoming brittle. They won't hold up long. Greenstalks are guaranteed - I think it's five years. Knowing the limitations of your garden space and budget will direct you. They both have their place. Another idea about stabilizing is putting a pole along the outsides of the planter. Could be limbs, old broom dowels, etc. And, if you can set up drip irrigation on a timer? Have fun!

Habineros would work and dwarf sunflowers work too. But your comfrey I would always put that in the ground. It's a magical plant!!! It'd pulls minerals from the earth that no other plants can. You use it for so much.

I didn't once I took off the extra plate thing at the bottom it got better but when it's 118 degrees you have to water a bunch because like half of it will dry out but then the bottom is overwatered

I'm trying to find out if there is a recycle stamp on the bottom of these, since they're only available by mail right now. Only #'s 1, 2, 4 and 5 are safe in which to grow food. When I was a broke college student, I got some of these for my dad for Father's Day. He loved to garden and grow food for our family. He passed away a little over a year ago, and my first serious attempt at a garden feels like an opportunity to connect to his memory. In search for some gardening tools, I stumbled across this set of Dollar Tree Stackables in his old tool shed. I got a GreenStalk on Black Friday, but I'm just excited to grow in this Stackable. Maybe I'll grow bush beans!
