Yeah I knew him mostly from How I Met Your Mother. A true actor because I did NOT expect his natural demeanor to be THAT different from his acting.

A lot. Haven't you noticed how in all those books you've read "a" and "lot" are separate words? You know: in all those books you've definitely read.

Artistic "genius"? A bit of hyperbole there. There are certain words that should only be used occasionally and genius is one of them. Jason Segal is a very amiable and talented actor. No reason to go further than that.

damn Jason just seems like a total sweetheart. Shrinking is not for everyone but i love it to pieces, the chemistry of the ensembles makes up for the sorta underwhelming writing (at times). Segel, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams are so hilarious together. if ya like Ted Lasso and Scrubs, then it should be right up your alley.

Jason Segel is currently one of the most underrated artists because of his disposition. So was Tom Hanks back in the day. Hope this new series brings him notice.

It’s funny how more people haven’t realised how amazingly talented and genuinely funny he is! I became an instant fan when I saw him in HIMYM and watched everything he’s been in!
@TheYetiLee

It’s funny because I think that way about people who didn’t discover him until HIMYM. He shined on Freaks and Geeks and you knew he was destined for big things back then. Guy is super talented but more importantly super genuine.

Laughter is our human way of coping. I try to remember that "nothing good is funny." People who are always serene, content, and satisfied are the least likely to laugh for any reason. People who are comically talented are just way better than us at leaning into that.

Pretty much the same advice that music composer for Beavis and Butt-Head Do America John Frizzell got from his mentor Elmer Bernstein, who had composed music for the comedy classic Airplane. Bernstein told Frizzell to compose it as if he didn't even know it was a comedy, just as he himself had done in Airplane. Beavis and Butt-Head movie music sounds like it would perfectly fit in a really serious and high-stakes action movie, which makes the whole movie even funnier.

im so glad his in this new project, i gotta see it. creators are finally done with the extreme genre "oh this is a comedy, oh this is a drama" are blending in all in, like irl. like Taika did in Jojo. and the actors, the good ones, have a lot more range to work with. its all good news

yes -- the decline of Network television and the rise of streaming, while problematic in numerous ways, is really lovely for the state of professional storytelling.

I think, generally speaking, stories are done best when they are consistent in tone. Some levity is nice in dramas and some character and some drama in comedy is nice but when the two become too intertwined it takes me out of the experience. I think shows have a better shot at getting away with it because of the way they are structured in episodes. I tend to dislike the marvel way of throwing in quips in a dramatic scene for the sake of undercutting tension. Some levity is good, like i said, but only when its appropriate. Similarly, when shows like the office put in too much drama, it hurts the comedy. In the season when jim and pams marriage was having trouble, the comedy suffered. Not that the bits werent funny but its hard to laugh at a bit when its the scene after a really dramatic part. I think comedies are unique in this regard, especially with shows, where many will opt for more dramatic plot threads in later seasons to keep things fresh. When the bits get old, you fall back on the characters. It's not that i dont like the dramatic bits from the office in isolation. But its when you look at the show as a whole and you see the shift in priority.
