To find the tears on the glyphs easier, look for the "filled in" tear-drop shape on the glyph. This will always be where it is. (You prolly figured this out already, but hey, it's good to share w others that are struggling)

It's been amazing delving into this world again. Everything feels new, the world and characters more connected, there's more personality and charm. This game has exceeded my expectations so far and to be honest, it's made me quite emotional at times. I haven't felt this sort of magic in a long time and I feel so grateful that I live in a time where we can experience the world that is Zelda.

@Ellary_Rosewood
@Ellary_Rosewood Жыл бұрын
@@myckull3820 Fair point, I can totally see that being an issue for some. I, however never found myself getting bored, even after six years and well over 1000 hours of playing BOTW. I used to play the game for hours, just riding around on my horse, exploring every nook and cranny and am still discovering new things all the time. I feel like the world in TOTK is different enough to keep me satisfied for another six years. But then again, I'm one of those weird people who can be happy just staring at the landscape of in the distance for hours. 🤣
@Tohlemiach
@Tohlemiach Жыл бұрын
@@Ellary_Rosewood I'm not getting bored per se, but I do keep getting disappointed. I would say over half of the content of the game is just reused from BotW and that really bothers me. Granted, I love the new abilities and weapons are way more personalized and enjoyable to gather and assemble, and I love the new story and especially the dungeons so far, but the overworld map is topographically identical and most of the enemies are the same, and that to me takes a big bite out of any excitement I may have had going into things. For example: I already know that in the north of Hyrule between Death Mountain and the Hebra mountains lies the Lost Woods and the Deku Tree is in the middle of said Lost Woods. I can guarantee something will have *happened* to him and we'll have to do a quest involving it, but I already know *what's there.* Same thing with every other location. I already knew Kakariko Village would be where it is, and despite the fact that it has some new quests, it's still just the same place selling the same items. The Ring Ruins do change up the topography a decent amount I will admit. But Hateno village is the same (plus a school, which is neat), Goron City was the same, and Rito Village has been the same. Lurelin as well. There's different stuff to *do* in each of those places, but they're still there just the same as they were last time. Now the real question is: is it enough to already know where you're going but to be surprised by what you're going to do there? For some people the answer will actually be yes, but for me it's a hard no. That is why The Depths is single-handedly saving this game for me, because it's an actual wild card that keeps throwing me for a loop. Like take the Great Deku Tree: when playing BotW, I didn't even know he would be in the game. He hasn't been in a Zelda game since Wind Waker, so when I saw that I was hit with a blast of nostalgia. Now, for TotK, I already know he's gonna be there again, it'll just be a matter of what quest is he going to give us this time. That is infinitely less interesting to me than the surprise of finding out he even exists in the first place. Then you combine that with the fact that most of the enemies you fight are Bokoblins once again and the new enemies show up pretty rarely compared to them as well as the fact that most of the armor is identical to the last game AND the fact that the shrine/leveling system as well as Korok seeds are completely identical (I mean systemically, not content-wise) and what you get is that more than half of this game is completely the same. That feels REALLY bad to me personally. I still can't wait to get back and keep playing, because the promise of finding something new is always calling me back, but in BotW *everything* was new. Any piece of armor was a brand new concept because LoZ never really had such an idea before, so finding different set pieces was always a new experience. In TotK, it's more like "Oooo a new armor p---oh, it's the Barbarian armor. Cool, that's pretty useful I guess...." and MOST things you find fall into the category of "oh, this again. Neat." For a game about exploration and discovery, I find myself experiencing an awful lot of "Rediscovery", and I just find that to be an unacceptable game design philosophy and I think it's inherently unfun. Having to level my hearts and stamina again, having to collect Korok seeds to increase my inventory space again, like it's just not fun anymore because I already did those exact same things in the exact same ways in BotW. Like the fact that there was even a single Korok puzzle that was the same as in BotW was disappointing to me. Really? You came up with the backpack Korok idea, but you still decided to use a "stand in front of little windwheel and shoot balloon" for 50 of them? Like what's the point? For any system they decided to keep from BotW I think they really needed to make at least 95% of the content brand new. I would even accept 80% if I had to, but 50%? Less, even? That's kind of ridiculous. Shrines are great, yes, because they utilize the totally different power set you have in this game, but even then I was really hoping they'd scrap the Shrine idea and take all those puzzles and put them into the dungeons and really beef them up. Even there the dungeons are just Divine Beasts again. Do a short run-up quest, open the dungeon, press 5 buttons, fight boss, get power. Don't even get me started on the Sky Islands though. Most of them are just a stray chest, a Flux Construct, and a Shrine. No visual distinction, and only like 1 or 2 groups of islands per tower. The marketing made it seem like they were like THE main draw of the new map, but in context they feel like an afterthought. All in all, I think it's just that Elden Ring ruined open world games for me. It so far has the highest "novel content per square inch" ratio I've seen, and I think that's simply what makes an open world game good at this point. You can have *some* repetitive content in your game, but I think you really need to be able to hit a certain threshold. Like, for a given amount of play time, I should be going "woah, sick!" a certain number of times. When BotW came out, it set the new record and that's what I was used to. Then Ghost of Tsushima came out and it had an even higher ratio, so that became my new standard. Then Elden Ring came out and blew both of them out of the water. TotK is sitting somewhere between Elden Ring and Ghost of Tsushima, so essentially we've moved backwards in terms of my personal tolerance. Yes, I know that's a "me" problem, but Elden Ring was absolutely huge, and unfortunately developers are now going to have to deal with the ramifications of its impact. I know TotK was almost completely developed at that point, which is a shame, but it is what it is now. I think it's a brilliant game, 10/10, terrible as a Zelda game, very underwhelming as an openworld game. I think all three of those things can be true at the same time, and unfortunately it means that while I think it's 10/10 game, the experience itself ends up being more of a 7/10 for me.

I'm still very early in the game, but yes it's definitely doing an amazing job shoring up the areas where BOTW fell a little short. Don't get me wrong, BOTW is a good game, it's just not the 10/10 masterpiece everyone said. Shrines were too monotonous, it suffered from the lack of dungeons, the story was way too predictable, and while ambient music is not a bad thing, having the entire soundtrack be ambient hurt the game some. This one makes shrines both shorter and more interesting, korok seeds are even more interesting, the story is MUCH more interesting, and the soundtrack has some more orchestral stuff in addition to the overworld ambience.

Some interesting impressions from the german version of the game: While I much prefer Yunobos english voice (the german one makes him sound like the biggest pipsqueak ever), the german localizers NAILED it with the names. Instead of "President Yunobo", they call him "Yunoboss". That one would've also made sense in english, unlike the following, which is "Yunobo HQ", which in german, they call "Yunobau" (a pun of "Yunobo" and "Bau" which is the german word describing the act of construction or sometimes the construction industry as a whole).

ADDON: To the voice, I gotta add - while in german, it sounds absolutely like a pipsqueak (like, it really is the same kind of voice, with the same intonation, that they would give a scared 10 year old in a cartoon), the VA still DOES a well job outside of that. I don’t know why but Everytime I face a puzzle I can’t solve it’s because I’ve forgotten ascend. When I saw you used ascend on the talus I felt so dumb waiting for it to dig out me hands to throw amber at its core to keep it down. (Was low on arrows at the time.)

Watching how he did the Fire Temple made me wish I hadn’t cheesed it with Ascend. I miss the curated dungeon experience a little. I did Lightning more by the book and I think I enjoyed it more as a result. (Some people enjoy the lateral thinking/other solutions, to be clear!) (Edit: I do love seeing alternate solutions, though. Like I did one gong by making a jumping ramp, and he made a freaking huge bridge instead)

They put so much in this game, but I had a funny idea for something that I wish they had done. So there are 4 Fairy Fountains (5, if you count the Horse God), right? I wish they had hidden an additional mysterious fountain in some obscure location and when you unlock it, it’s revealed to contain… *Tingle*

Not only does the marbled rock covering Gohma resemble the cocoon-like structure that Calamity Ganon was in, but the fact that Calamity Ganon’s first physical form was also an arachnid-like creature makes it a even more clever reference to it.

So the mural showed Ganondorf stealing a tear/secret stone. And this cutscene shows him realizing their power and what they can do. And before this, we were given an explanation that someone can swallow a secret stone to become an immortal dragon at the cost of their self. I'm calling it now, there's no way Ganondorf doesn't swallow a stone in this story. In fact, him consuming a stone could explain in part why he keeps coming back, and why he's sometimes not himself, but a mindless monster king.

Regarding your question right at the end of the video, is Sonia not the goddess of time depicted in the statues? In botw I always assumed it was hylia and it may well have been confirmed to be and I didn't pay enough attention, but the statues do look a lot like Sonia and she has power over time so it'd make sense for her to be worshipped in a temple of time
