Joining our Tech Talk series here is Blush Response aka Joey Gonzalez, a Cuban-American sound designer operating in the field of heavy, dark and industrial leaning EBM music coming via imprints such as Adam X’s Sonic Groove, Sacred Court and his own Megastructure_ since 2009. Over the years Gonzalez has put his renowned sound design experience to work for acclaimed manufacturing companies such as Electron, Yamaha and Arturia.
Here we explore Joey’s studio which features a modular system at its core alongside the many other hardware instruments and effects processors he utilises to produce his raw and dynamic sound.

loved the video and stoked to see you on here! quick question: for your master clock sync from the computer to the analog rytm, are you using overbridge or a dedicated interface? I’m so jealous of your luck with sync - even with adjusting negative latency, I never get reliable sync from the computer…

I'm new to production. The Elektron Machines he has: Elektron Analog MKII, Elektron Analog Four MKII, Elektron Digitone, and Elektron Octatrak MKII are very powerful synthesizers (I have the RYTM MKII and Analog Four MKII). They're not the most expansive but their sequencers are the most powerful in the market and so easy to implement. At 5:02 minutes:seconds, I believe he has a Waldorf Quantum, one of the most powerful synthesis synthesizers in the market.

Genuine question- aren’t the modular modules technically made on a computer? So isn’t it all 0s and 1s anyway ? What’s the difference then? Especially if you are recording it into Ableton so again 010101.

The level of control actually IS in the software synths and in fact it`s much greather that what you can do with hardware synths. I think what he meant to say is that the "way" you control things is completely different and is absolutely lacking the tactile experience you have with hardware.
