I test drove one today and everything felt great with the truck. Got it on the interstate and it was smooth as butter. Not one of these reasons in this video is enough to persuade me to shy away from the Colorado. I don't need diesel (it's too damn expensive anyway), I don't give a shit how comfortable the backseat is (cause I don't drive from there), plastic is easy to clean, I don't give a shit if there's leaf springs or not (as long as the tires stay on the pavement). So long story short, your reasons are asinine. Go fly a kite in a lightning storm.

Obviously this reviewer did not spend any time with the new generation 3 Colorado or Canyon. Lack of models are primarly because auto manufactures only build what sells and is popular. They need to maximize their profits mostly bacause of the massive losses they are taking trying to move to electric. While it is true GM dropped the 3.6 v6. You can thank your current government agenda for wanting to kill Diesels, large displacement engines and push limited range electrics. The new 2.7 turbomax is an amazing engines that provides amazing horsepower and torque considering it size an even though I would rather have a larger displacement engine but this is sign of the times. Perhaps if we can dump the current administration in the White House US automakers will have their hands untied and can start building vehicles we all would love to have. Even Toyota in the Tacoma is limiting engine size to a 2.4L 4 banger. Perhaps you should change the Video name to "6 Reasons Why you SHOULD NOT buy any new vehicle right now"

I have a 2023 Colorado truck my company gifted me, and this thing is patently ridiculous. I would not buy one in a million years. Yet another case of what is so common these days with high-tech doo-dads, “Did the people who designed this thing every actually use it themselves?” It’s not a truck, really - it’s a device. Push-button start: Who decided after 100+ years of automotive history that we can’t start a vehicle without first pushing the brake pedal? Then there’s the 6-lb. remote brick. Am I the only one who’s wondered what happens when this thing quits working someday? And it WILL happen. There is a built-in key thing to unlock the door and get you inside, but for what? To get out of the rain? That’s about it, because you won’t be going anywhere. And what will it cost to replace the brick and get it re-programmed when it breaks or you lose it? When you start the truck, you get a big screen warning that you should keep your eyes on the road and not spend too much time operating this system... that you have to operate to do or engage practically anything beyond A/C controls. It does go away when you put the truck in gear, but you have to acknowledge “okay” to access any on-screen menus while in “Park” with the engine running. Okay fine, I’ll play along just to get rid of it. But, in a couple of weeks it’s back! Does anyone really want to be pestered like this every couple of weeks for the next 5-10 years? The dash is full of gloss black switches and accent trim that reflect sunlight right into your eyeballs in the early afternoon when the sun is high in the sky. Who knew that gloss black was as reflective as chrome? Well, it is! Ditto with the chrome-trimmed Chevy cross emblem on the steering wheel. I have to keep a hand towel in the truck to throw over the screen and shiny 45-degree buttons below it when I’m driving mid-day. Other buttons at the very bottom below the screen and 45-degree buttons, you can’t read the nomenclature during the day to see what their function is. The center console surrounding the gear shifter is the same gloss black plastic. After a few months, mine’s all scratched up. And I don’t put anything on it except my phone. Could they have picked a more scuff-prone material than gloss black plastic? Good grief. Speaking again of the dash, it has more little warning icons than you can shake a stick at. Who knows what they’re all for? And more icons on the steering wheel buttons. You have to learn sign language if you drive this POS. I think my favorite is the one that lets you know there’s another vehicle in front of you. Nice to know I’ll still able to drive when I go blind. And a totally useless set of gauges. Who cares what the temperature of the engine oil and transmission oil is? Give us something useful like the standard oil pressure and volt or amp meter. There’s a “not-a-feature” that randomly shuts the engine off at red lights, and then re-starts when you let off the brake or push the gas. Really nice in the summer to have the A/C go warm on you while waiting for the light to turn green. And it’s totally random. Sometimes it’ll shut off every time you stop, other times it won’t do it for days at a time. There is a shiny black reflective button to disable it, but you have to disable it every time you start the truck. Simply irritating. It never occured to the great minds at General Motors that people buying the “work truck” might need to idle it for extended periods of time. Nope. No one in Corporate ever took it out to a job site themselves. The engine shuts down every fifteen minutes, unless you move the gear selector out of “park” and back. Or re-start it when it shuts down. If it shuts down while you’re away from the truck, you get three quick horn chirps after you come back and open the door. Just in case you can’t figure out that the engine has stopped running. Sometimes you get two quick horn chirps when you open the door. Don’t know what it’s complaining about when that happens. In addition to learning sign language, you also gotta know Morse Code to use this truck. I like listening to music when I drive, so it irritates me greatly that the bass and treble controls are buried layers deep in the stupid menus. Even worse, if you’re listening from your phone, you have to exit CarPlay and go back to the home page to get to the tone controls. That scream you hear is me pulling my hair out. Speaking of CarPlay, sometime it just totally checks out. There’s a light for the truck bed. I mean, I can see it, but I haven’t figured out how to turn it on. Why can’t there just be a switch on the dash? Jeez. The overhead console is totally useless. Do we need a bright, blaring sign to tell us the “Passenger Air Bag is Off” when there’s no passenger? And the “Passenger Air Bag is On” when there is? In addition, the overhead console renders the sun visors too short to cover the full length of the door window when you need to block the sun from the side. Other little irritations abound. Take it to your mechanic and he asks, “What’s the mileage?” Can’t get that info without starting the truck. Leaving for an out-of-town trip in the morning and want to double-check your fuel level? Gotta start the engine to see the gauge. Want to move the wiper arms into a position to easily change the blades? Gotta start the engine to do that. One feature I did like, the auto door locking function, was poorly executed. If I need to go around and get my cooler out of the passenger seat, the doors lock before I can get there. If the doors auto-lock and then you unlock them with the push button on the door handle, the smart truck isn’t smart enough to re-lock them again when you leave. Often I’d go out to leave and find the doors unlocked and wonder what happened. So, what should have been a nifty feature turned out to be yet another nuisance. Fortunately, it can be disarmed somewhere deep in the menu system. Then you can be responsible for locking the doors yourself with the remote, like in the good old days of dumb (but not irritating) cars. The seat covers are some kind of coarse mesh fabric. Don’t eat anything in the truck - you’ll never get the crumbs cleaned out of it. The system really doesn’t like it when you leave the truck with the brick in your pocket. Fortunately, the complaining horn-honk can be disabled, but geez: If you’re gonna design a system that doesn’t require a physical key to be attached to the truck, it should expect that sometimes it’s going to walk away. Duh! About the only good thing I can say about this DEVICE is that it has awesome leg room, which my 6’ husband loves.

Yes, it is way too much cheap plastic. Rear leaf suspensions are an outdated, too. Overall, the truck feels way overpriced just because they installed fancy shocks. I like that it can change tire pressure in ZR2 modification, but all the cheap stuff comes with it anyway. Toyota feels much more up-to-date for a fraction of the price. Agreed this truck is not that desirable.

I’m not getting a truck so I have no dog in this fight, however if you think the Tacoma is more up to date, you’re out of your mind. Tacoma still has leaf springs for the lower half of the models, cheap plastic interiors that look like a tonka toy, and an antiquated 4WD system compared to everyone but the Frontier. Considering it broke in minutes when TFL tested it, we can’t even say it’s more durable. It’s got a smaller displacement engine that is unproven in truck usage, and build quality from the Mexican factory has trailed far behind the old Texas factory and can’t hold a candle to the Japanese built 4-Runner. On top of all of this, Toyota raised the prices up astronomically compared to the outgoing model. I don’t know if you’re unaware of these issues or just a Toyota fan, but there is a reason Tacos are sitting on lots.

So of the 8 reasons, the lack of a coil rear suspension is the only valid reason not to buy a Colorado, and thats purely a preference not a demerit. Lack of power, well you have a high output option you can choose. Its a midsize truck so theres never going to be a V8 option and a turbo 4 is a much better option than an NA V6. Every single diesel engine thats been release that ISNT a 6.7 Ford, Cummins or the 6.6 Duramax is a massive piece of crap. There hasnt been a small diesel that isnt a cheater thats been at all reliable. Not compared to most of the segment's Turbo 4's and V6s. Lack of a hybrid model is a reason to not buy a gas powered Colorado? For real? Unless youre getting a full size crew cab with luxury interior, you arent getting comfortable rear seats on any truck. Downvoted. See my user name for what my preferences are.

The interior was what did it for me when I looked at the gm trucks. (I'm coming off a tacoma) Too much hard cheap feeling plastics inside. The competition is just doing it better. Interior design is great, but the stuff I'm going to touch everyday reminds me of the old nissan frontier, but without the cheaper price that made it acceptable.

Sounds like sour grapes to me... Mister Toyota. I ACTUALLY OWN one of these. a Trail Boss in bright blue. I LOVE this truck. Ive come from many Tacomas.. Toyota screwed around for over 15 years making the same old tired design. I LOVE THE LOOK of this truck. The Ride? Smooth. The Engine, Smooth. Suspension, GREAT.... seat comfort? Good. Ive owned mine for 6 months, and 6,000 miles. I get 15mpg, combined. Not as good as I hoped. I would like a hybrid, I hope one is coming, or once Toyota gets their Tacoma Hybrid sorted out, I might get one of those. The Tacoma Hybrid has lots of problems, so production has been halted before too many hit the road, only to get recalled. My dislikes, the auto stop.. engine dies at every stop light. There is a button to disable, but you have to hit it on every restart. I HATE digital screens, and bar graph gauges... Give me analog, gauges with RED needles. EASY TO READ AT A GLANCE... As for OVER BOOSTING a little 4 cylinder to get 300 HP out of it, you shorten engine life a lot... Stick with the 237 HP version. My 4WD truck has never even seen a dirt road, probably never will, yours wont either. The bed size.. is fine, its empty most of the time like 99% of all other trucks on the road today. Towing? My truck has seen 100 times more towing than dirt roads, that still equals ZERO, again like 97% of trucks on the road today. This truck is a GREAT LOOKING status symbol... DEAL WITH IT.
