On my 5V 60 amp sms the pot is not attached to Vcc but is in the bottom leg of the voltage divider and is grounded. When using a pot as a rheostat it is good practice to link the slider to one end. This prevents massive loss of control if the slider bounces when being turned.

AMP kitne dega ye nai bataya.. or iska fan to kharab ho jayega 24 v pe. Uske liye bhi to kuch karna chahiye
