I feel like the answer is the same every year. It's not worth it if you bought last year's phone but if you're coming from a 2 year or more upgrade thats the way to go

I wouldn’t even say 2 years lol. My dad has a Samsung and an iPhone X that still works like it’s brand new. These new iPhones come with pomp and fluffy gimmicks to up apples sales but you really don’t NEED them. The new iPhones are 100% a WANT not a NEED every year. Which is fine

I know the feeling. I had the XR and 6S, and I would switch one from the other once in a while cause I like the Touch ID. I miss force touch cause it would help me when typing long text. But I learned that you can just hold the space bar and then it works similarly. I, now, have the 13 mini. It’s like having the XR and 6S at the same time. It would be awesome if it had Touch ID still like the iPads.

I appreciate your tech comparisons and real world usage comments. As a young lad, I did mucho photograpy and cinematography personally and as part of my college studies. What I REALLY appreciate about iPhone cameras is getting sharp, colorful pics without having to lug around all the equipment that you portrayed in the beginning. Thanks for your analyses.

I was able to find a decent deal on a 128gb iPhone 12, I don’t like to upgrade as much, paying phones off is annoying and expensive. Going to be keeping this for another 3-4 years like i didn’t with my XR.

I upgraded my 12 mini to the 13 mini for the battery, camera and the memory- not to mention the trade in. So kudos to the iPhone 13 mini ❤️ thanks for another great Video Jon! And need I mention I watched the Seahawks and was like hey! I bet my fave KZfaqr is watching this game LoL 😂

I’ve had the 8 plus since launch and will keep it till it can’t be updated any more. I’m one of the 10% who can’t use OLED due to PWM. I don’t like the notch and much prefer the 16:9 screen - the best for media. For those trying to choose I’d say go for the 13 as the battery life is hugely improved.

@@leacelina4738 I went from a 7 to 13, yes it is a noticeable upgrade indeed but not mesmerizingly. I'd imagine upgrading every year to be quite the let down to be honest, I like to notice big improvements for the extra dosh spent. I can iswap now since for the First time I'm under a phone contract, it allows me to upgrade without losing money on my phone as long as I look after it but to be fair, I think I'll not bother upgrading until the 15 ultra pro max or whatever comes out if even I do that. You'll definitely enjoy the 13.

Still got the iPhone SE (1st Gen) LOL. It works well, no issues with it other than the storage. I literally have 16GB total 😂😂😂 - they don’t even make phones with such little storage anymore. I sometimes have to delete apps to use other ones then upload the deleted ones when I need them. If it wasn’t for this I wouldn’t be thinking of upgrading!!

Accurate if not the best comparison video I've watched so far about the two devices. I've an iPhone 12 because of the form factor so the pro models are a big no for 😅 but I think I will have to keep my iPhone 13 till maybe when a reasonable upgrade comes out

I am still on my iPhone 8 Plus. I plan to wait for the iPhone 14 or whenever they plan to have a complete redesign and additional features such as bringing back the touch-ID, a notch-less phone, and a possibility that Apple may bring USB-C to their new iPhone 14 because they recently added one onto their iPad mini. These are some of the features that I am most looking forward to.

Apple will never switch to USB-C for the iPhone. Don't kid yourself. Do you know how much money they make on lightning accessories? They aren't ever giving that up until they are ready to go completely portless. And no notch is still a couple iPhones away, it won't be the 14. MAYBE 15 or 16.

You understand that rich people are usually rich because they don't spend their money on frivolous stuff, yes? A lot of rich people are cheap skates... that's how they became rich! 😂

Had a iPhone 12 for about 3 months it was good no complaints at all and although my favorite color was red I wasn’t a big fan of the salmon color the 13 looks so much better in the red but anyway it was a great phone still is I’m sure

Currently on a iPhone 8 Plus(only my second iPhone ever, I had the 5s from 2014-2019) and I find it hard parting with the Touch ID one day. If I had to predict the future I could see myself with the iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 by next year.

@Jon Rettinger actually you are mistaken the 13 in HDR can go up to 1200 nits not 800. It's max normal brightness is 800 and 1200 for HDR.

Save the $$ and Get a 12 mini! Unless you WANT a tablet sized phone, then it doesn’t matter which you go with. But it’s not actually a “MINI”. It’s just smaller than most of the phones coming out, still bigger than all other iPhones. It’s about the size of what the Galaxy S7 was (that was my favorite android) I personally think the mini (only available in 12) Feels better in the hand, pocket and vehicle… being able to save hundreds of dollars was just a plus, because I was going to get it even if it was the more expensive. But luckily for me, everyone seems to like tablet sized phones! Lol

i went from the 11 pro max, to the 12 mini and i regretted it instantly. i wanted that small feel again and the mini was it for me but the battery drains very quickly. And i wanna upgrade to the 13 but then i want to wait for the 14 lmao IDK WHAT TO DO.

I won't be making a mistake, I'm still in love with my XS Max and will keep it till I absolutely can't anymore. The vertical camera layout is so much more visually appealing than the bug eyes of the newer models. Much classier looking phone, IMO.

Um “bokeh” is the visual affect of how a lens renders an out-of-focus point of light. Often a “circular” image from a highlight out of focus. A blurred background isn’t bokeh but is the result of controlling the lens’s “depth of field” or also described as shooting with a “shallow focal plane”. Sorry, really tired of the overuse of the word bokeh.

There is no major difference that I see between the two phones so I’m keeping my 12 for years to come

Yeah same I just upgraded to 12 from the iPhone X. I am keeping the 12 until they release an iPhone with the notch fully gone 😂

I've had 8 hours of screen time and the battery still has 13 percent left. Not playing games and wifi only

I upgraded due to battery life. If the battery on the SE lasted longer I wouldn’t have upgraded but trust was the deciding factor the battery on the 13 is amazing! But I’m having buyers remorse so I may return it

Mom upgraded from a 7plus to a 13 and its been PERFECT! easier for her to carry around and put in her pocket, battery is waaayyy better, phone is obviously alot faster and the screen is tremendously better. We considered an iphone 12 128GB but for $50 more u can get a 13 128GB with better cameras, better battery life and the new A15 which will make it last atleast an extra year longer than the 12 so it was a no brainer tbh

I really can’t get why we don’t have Picture Styles on iPhone 12 via update. It’s clearly a software stuff and A14 can run anything that A15 can, at least at this point. I think is a marketing decision rather than a capability matter…

I think it depends on which phone you have right now, I personally wouldn‘t upgrade from the 12 and I believe also not from the 11. I have the iP 8 and I will upgrade to the 13 in two weeks. I will get 128 GB and it‘s only 50€ more expensive than the 12. I will definitely keep it some years, so the better battery was one of the main reasons

@@earnistse4899 Well yes that‘s true. I personally just like to keep my phone for some years. So if I had the 11, I would probably wait for the 14 or even 15. But I can see your point and the newer phones are definitely better than the 11.

well its not wayy batter cameras,its very small difference,i dont say its same yea the difference is there,but very small,battery yea i better on iphone 13,but with 12 i got 13h average use and its still on 18% so its good for most users,for heating thing i dont think that is heating on 12,not in my case,but wait till iphone 14 that will be good upgrade maybe if regular model have 120hz and no notch.otherwise both 13 and 12 are amazing phones
