In this video, I will be showing you how you can host a website from your own computer... That’s right! No paid hosting services, no complex setup process...you can directly make your website go live from your computer at home, for free of cost.
Obviously, if you want your website to be online all day, you need to keep your computer powered on and connected to the Internet all the time.
Download XAMPP: www.apachefrie...
Download WordPress: wordpress.org/...
Packetriot: packetriot.com/
Commands to use in Packetriot:
To configure: pktriot.exe configure
To view info and hostname: pktriot.exe info
To edit tunnel name: pktriot.exe edit --name 'your name'
To add a HTTP service to tunnel: pktriot.exe tunnel http add --domain 'your domain' --destination localhost --http 80 --letsencrypt
To start packetriot: pktriot.exe start
Changes to be made in wp-config.php (WordPress):
Insert these two lines:
define('WP_HOME', 'yourdomainname.com/wordpress');
define('WP_SITEURL', 'yourdomainname.com/wordpress');
You can even use your own custom domain with packetriot so that you can serve your locally hosted website on your domain. You can get a domain name for as little as 75 INR per year (1 USD) or even less. Some services even offer domain names for free for a limited time! This is completely optional as you can just use the unique hostname assigned to you by packetriot for free of cost!

Thanks a lot. Been using free online hosting but it is so limited and restricted. It basically good for a 2 or 3 page website with not much going on, they only allow 30mb per webpage, so if you have lots of images or media on your page your screwed. So I looked into getting a server. A bit costly for me at the moment but thought about getting an old laptop and using it as a dedicated server to learn how it all works. So here I am. Great video. I work with both Windows and Linux usually and thought I'd need Linux on my server laptop, but seems this apache and mysql works on Windows too! Thanks for the tutorial friend

@@arkapadma I've done 2 now that i got online for free but never maintained or stuck with. I am thinking about another project but paying for the subscription to the hosting service because it comes with a ton of stuff that makes it more professional like the SSLcertificate that makes it not show up as insecure and also it comes with the domain name registration too so for myself it's the most straightforward way to get the page online and maintained professionally.

just woooow. Few question if I may. 1. Would this work in 2024? 2. How about if the website or any individual pages receive a high traffic, how our service provider will treat us then (how many visit would called high traffic so it may raise a red flag at my provider)? 3. What is the recommended hardware configuration to self-host website like this? 4. What is the recommended internet up-down speed in 2024 for high traffic (same as above)? my questions are based on - I provide a 1 man band consultation services and drive traffic (social media posts etc) to a 1 page funnel to pay for the service. (like purchase a free /$7 ebook and Sign up for a consultation lead to a booking calendar form sequence (5 simple pages). Theme Astra+Elementor+CRM system to collect sign-ups details.

I have the answer, put the wordpress files inside xammp, htdocts folder and dont create the subdomain and when you are in the console put yor main domain and not subdomain.

yeah you can but the site may go down if you upload heavy content or the viewers of the site are too much, raspberry pi 3 would be a good device to host a light website

Good for simple data fetching/serving but maybe need one just for the database and one for the middleware/other stuff. You'd have to test it by whamming it with requests

you are the best. but actualy dont need the ast part. you can simply forward main domain to the pktriot's long domain. this way you dont need to change your domain.

pros:- you will not have to pay any fees for hosting as its on your own PC. cons:- Your pc should be turned on for the website to be online. your network connection can be a bottleneck .

Yes, that's the importance of creating authentication and several layers of security in it. Many people choose paid hosts to minimize risks. Some large companies choose to use their own hosted servers.

My issue was solved by allowing "insecure content" within the site settings, accessed by clicking the button left of the URL (on Chrome).
