Finally a phone from Xiaomi that is worthy of the flagship moniker. Took them long enough to put in 4K front video & USB3.2 port, and everything else is kinda great too! Waiting eagerly for the global version 🌍

From my 1st xiaomi mi 5s, i saw that every new flagship model have the same problem with throttling/heating. Seems that marketers take the power, or engineers is totaly unsuitable for professionalism. That is sad. Great review, as usual, big thanks 👍

@@paulang1054I basically decided to bypass Samsung, because... Over many years of experience with them, I have lost all desire to believe them. Yesterday I picked up a xiaomi 14 12/512 for my parents, the global version for $700, second hand, under store warranty, purchased 2 days ago, looked at reviews, etc. There was overheating and fogging and much more. I tested it in all heavy games and it's awesome. Screen, size, speed, cameras, charging 80 percent in 20 minutes, etc. I don’t know what will happen next, but so far I really like it. No any overheat or throttling in any games like shadowgun legends, afk journey, dragonheir, and all with max settings

bought xiaomi 14 global couple of days ago, its great. Nice screen, cameras size, charge, desighn, ip68, vibro. And i test it in shadowgun legends, dragonheir, afk journey, all at max grafics and max fps - it works great, he just becomes a little warm, totally comfortable. 20 mins of charging and +80% of battery, nice

Can't wait to see the "final" camera app in 3-6 months. I bought my 13 Pro in August, 8 months after release and the camera is as good as it can be. I do hope one thing: reduce the camera app power consumption. Heavy use of it may not last you a 24 hours per charge, could be 20, 22 or something.

I'm hoping they'd carry over the 4k60 front facing camera of the 14 series over to the 13 series if they've only recently made it work on the 14. I mean we kinda use the same front facing camera sensors (32MP Omnivision).

@@nikkodyguaso3676 I haven't checked, but are you sure it's the same sensor? Because the datasheet shows it isn't capable of 4K, its native resolution is 3200x1800, which you can get by using something like open camera

the last at least 5 years,all phones with flagship cpu's run all the way throttled on extensive task's which means that what they should give priority to develop a more advanced cooling system and less to make only faster processors because it makes no difference to have a very fast processor that after one minute of heavy use performs the same with a much lower one.pretty much same on gaming laptops

Hi! You said that using screen edge genstures with third party launchers is kinda impossible with Xiaomi, i thought this was an Android change since version 11... So, is possible to do with other bands? This has stopped me from upgrading my Android 10 phone Ty

I'm thorn between getting a Xiaomi 13 or waiting a bit for global release of 14. So all in all what are your thoughts on gen 3? I get there's an improvement somewhere but it's not going to be very noticeable... From an efficiency and thermal standpoint? Just the same or here's a difference?

In use the Gen3 is like the Gen4. Also a very hot chip that is good only for short bursts unless fan cooled as seen in the Redmagic 9 Pro.

Luckily it is still unlockable/rootable. There was just some uncertainty which has now been cleared out. You can still unlock it if you have a Xiaomi account for at least 30 days.

Will GPay and Google wallet work? I bought a 12 Pro approximately 18 months ago from Trading Shenzhen, in the EU ROM unlocked variant and last week they failed 2/3 Google API tests, meaning that I cannot use contactless payments. Would this likely be the case with the global ROM? Or will it have the bootloader locked, like in the CN ROM?

Global ROM that wouldn't be the case, but if you unlock the Chinese version and flash it, that could be an issue.

@@Techtablets The Xiaomi has incredible specifications, but numbers aren't everything, the S23 has been on the market for a while and is very solid, at a software level Samsung's UI also seems more developed, it's a difficult decision, even the camera on the S23 with less megapixels looks better on photos and videos.

Perhaps 3-4 years. It' more than enough. Who cares? Why are these updates so important to you? This is a completely secondary thing that should not be paid attention to. As long as the phone works well and suits the user, there is no point in replacing it with a new one. (Most people will buy a new phone after 2-3 years anyway). My second phone is now in its 5th year, it works great without any system updates (Android 10 atm). Although I can upgrade it to android 12, but it will become worse in terms of camera, battery and performance, so there is no point. Updates after 2nd-3rd year often start killing the phone. I think I will replace the weak battery with a new one in the near future and it will work for several more years without any problems.

Switch emulation will lead to those high levels of overheating too, I guess I'm waiting for the SD8g3 gaming phones to come along. Hopefully Redmagic cooling is great again, although the super slim profile they've gone for makes me a bit worried on that front.

The S23 Ultra display is better. But it's still very good.

Does the display has that Ltpo technology, meaning, does it have variable refresh rate?? If not, that explains the poor battery life, especially when ran at 1440p....

Is it does have it and will drop down to very low fps. Part of the reason is the phone i don't think is well optimised yet. Compared to my S23U the battery is far worse with similar use.

I want to upgrade my phone next year with S24+ or 24 ultra. 8 Gen 3 really have high temperatures, I never see a phone can reach 49 degree C until now, and I'm worried about S24 ultra. S24+ will have exynos in my country, still have doubt about that processor after experienced it with my past phones. Now I wonder just got S23+ and call it a day and use it for the next 3-4 years. What do you think?

I think the S24 series will be fine and Samsung plays it very safe and lowers performance, throttles them more to keep those temps down.

I like the 13 Ultra, great cameras and you get the 1-inch sensor. If you came this is better, better front camera for video and slightly better battery life. But 13 Ultra, I would get that I think.

I'd never consider to buy a Xiaomi just because I can't use Nova Launcher + Gestures. I suffered in my K30 Pro Zoom, and will never make the same mistake again. I'm good with mt ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, waiting for the new model with UDC as the Nubia 50 Ultra was not released with Global ROM

What do you mean cant use nova launcher? Like you cant install android app on android phone?

@@VaidasJSP It's not possible in some chinese brands to have 3rd party launcher and gestures navigation. It forces you to have 3 button navigation if you use 3rd party launcher.

3 frames better means 5% better in 60FPS and 10% better in 30FPS, so it is a good upgrade and probably will become better when we get new updates on Genshin Impact

I agree and apparently Xiaomi is only making a limited number of global phones. On Aliexpress they have used 14's for an affordable price but it's the Chinese models. Global will cost more. Maybe it's better to flash the global rom.

one problem with mi is that they EOL devices within 2.5 years and then don't provide spare parts or service center repairs after that

He said he maxed out at 1600 nits and the 3000 nits are only achievable in a small window using HDR.
