Awesome video, Brett! We have the backpack in the kitchen for our 2nd mini and we love it! We can still use the outlet below for appliances. So easy to use and inexpensive. I bought a different mount from Etsy that broke in a month. Cool design but high maintenance. Thanks for all the mount info👍👍

Good Morning Again Brett ! Am currently pondering when on Earth you get any sleep ! LOL. All choices referenced in you video sound great. I, at present, have ALL my devices residing on my BED ! My Google Home, an iPad 4gen (my very first device, before discovering the wonderful, customizable, et al, world of Android), also, my Alexa Dot, my earbuds, a smaller stero speaker that I was given when I got the iPad, 4 or 5 years ago (which I only found I had several months ago ), it turned right on after sitting in it's box for all those years !... It's no Home, but sounds very nice ! I can use it for both my phone, and my iPad....the smaller one of course by being smaller, is the more portable one for using in the bathrooms while showering. It does not however have an Assistant, so am unable to tell it to skip to next song etc....And then of course there's my precious phone ! All, are plugged in to one of those long outlet things with multiple plugs and a switch with a light on it on the bed ! I sleep with all this on my bed !: Does'nt seem to iterfere with my sleep, and they are all certainly handy to me ! Point is, with all the different alternatives you showed us, I'm going to be rethinking , maybe, what can go where ? Thanks so much for all these remedies. Really enjoyed hearing the information. Great review! I think I was one of the people who suggested to review the mini backpack! I personally think these look much, much cleaner than the previous mounts you reviewed, I love mine and am glad you mentioned the projection of the sound of the mini being mounted on wall. That was the second benefit I noticed besides no cord. I didn't even realize they offered the other mounts for my original Google Home, I will be checking those out for sure! BTW my wife and I have the same bed frame and same comforter! Lol!

I'm looking to get 1 for my bathroom but it has a GFCI Outlet (Reset button to prevent electrocution from something getting dropped in the sink) I watched your video to see if it could be used mounted without the USB cable. I want to have the USB port up & use a short cable to plug it into a USB adapter but can't be sure it will work

It's so cool how North America have so many options for products like this and how compact the outlets are. Ours are giant and always horizontal, that leaves basically no room for innovation 😂

Nice products. Too bad that the Shelf isn't available for a horizontally mounted receptacle, but a wall mount toothbrush and glass holder would do..

That is a very good question. Are they square like this? I will let Mount Genie know this is needed as I could not find one with a quick search.

Yes they're squared, they just have 4 outlets instead of 2. I found some 3d printer templates from Thingiverse, but just wondering if you've seen any other models that are wider

If you are playing music on the shelf, and it's loose, do you have a problem with it vibrating?

Hi Brett I think you had a mistake around 6:40. You said White, Chalk and black. But white is chalk if I'm correct. I think you meant White and Black (and coral?)

Or you can just say ' Ok G "set volume to" : 1-10 or 1% thru 100% ' ... but you should already know that... Also that outlet is clearly a rectangle and called DECORA.. Good luck in future !!

Great video as always. Been considering the dry wall Mount Genie, but trying to figure out how to get the best from the cabling. The 6ft cable still needs to plug into something which is a bit of a pain in the proverbial and this means you need a socket nearby. Would love to know if anyone has any ideas on this. Thanks

Alexa only has a couple cool unique features but Google Assistant wins for me. Much more friendly, synces with my Google account very easily and I am already a huge Google fan.

No it does not project the sound into the room like that. The sound is directed sideways from the speaker.

Not true. Unless you are referring to the full sized, which, yes, has speakers on the front & sides. But that one is not turned. On the mini it's a single speaker pointed up. Look at the teardown step 7 from iFixIt www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Home+Mini+Teardown/102264

Placing the mini on the outlet is not very functional.. typically, the wall power outlets are about a foot above the floor level which is not convenient. I like the pedestal stands instead.. i can keep the minis closer to my reach on my table or near bed.

It's useful on a counter in a kitchen or bathroom where the outlet is on the back of the wall above the counter. Only problem is that in my bathroom it's a GFCI (Reset button) outlet & there aren't any of those with USBs

"Technically" that's not to code in most places as that cord is not intended to be run within a wall. But they definitely intend you to do that, they just can't tell you it's an option
