oo0Spyder0oo seems counterproductive to the concept of "home automation" , I use it to control my Chromecast and all my lights so I prefer keeping it unmuted almost always.

The time it takes yourself or anyone else to just press the mute button is hardly counterproductive, if you're listening to this then you aren't doing those other things anyway. The amount of people who complain at youtubers for not removing the 'hey google' command is crazy, their complaint takes more time to type than actually muting the thing, now that's counterproductive.

SZretired It can (kinda) be done already. Go into Home app, "more settings", select your device, then select "Assistant language" and change to "English (UK)". Which is funny because I'm British and changed mine to US 😀. You may lose some US-only functionality though.

It worked now! I just changed my language settings to English US and now these voices from the video is available! I'm using Samsung Galaxy Note 9, updated to android pie!

I live in the UK and it is available. Just set your device location to EN-US. The British voice sounds too bitchy, so I always set things to US standards instead. By setting your language to American English, you get a better service. It will always use terminology you can understand, by saying miles, feet, inches etc. And little extras like the better or wider variety of options are always a plus.

Will likely stick with the original due to acclimation, but loving these options and great video. If Google really wants to utterly destroy the competition, expanding John Legend options to include Morgan Freeman or Jarvis or Scarlett Johansson would absolutely seal the deal for dominance, despite Alexa's early lead. I just don't see anyone being able to contend with WaveNet technology here, and for all those who don't understand how much better Google Assistant is compared to others, this would do it for the laymen.

Anybody not in America and wants the new voices and the new custom routines, change your device language to American in all the places that your device has. Maybe in 'language and input'? In your assistant app maybe? In the Google Home app maybe? It's drive dependent but it certainly worked for me, thanks to a tip from CyclingLand from Holland in this video thread. You're not messing anything though, the voices are nothing special but the new custom routines are brilliant. Up to six actions with one command.

I have this working in the UK. If you say "change voice" via google assistant on your mobile or tablet app you can make a selection from 8 voices. If you try to do this through settings/preferences the selection of voice options is not available.

YAY! I've always wanted more options than just two and I prefer male voice but never liked the second option. I chose voice 8 because it sounds like the computer from Jurassic Park. Is there away to ask it to repeat what I say? I would make it do some quotes. Thanks for sharing. My husband will be surprised when he talks to "him" tonight for the first time. Hee hee can't wait to see his reaction. Too bad I can't pick different voices for each speaker.

That is exactly how I made the intro of this video. Also use the repeat after me in custom commands to have it say fun stuff with your triggered command.

I sometimes use the timer for meditation. It would be cool if I could have a gong noise or singing bell to start and end the timer. But that's not an option I can find.

It’s available anywhere, just set your language to English (USA), I’m in Australia and it works. It’s states only Us because it’s American accents

I just said “ Hey google change voice “ into the phone and it gave me the link to go directly to voice change. There were colors associated with each voice. Totally different interface than yours. I’m using a google pixel xl .

Yeah I get that but when I got my Google Home you could choose between two voices but in preferences now it just has weather and getting around the option for Voice assistant isn't there it's just gone

I'm in Canada and changed to English US for language settings. I changed it to voice 2 by asking the mini to change it. But for the life of me can't change it in Google home app. There's no hamburger setting menu and no more settings option. Do you think there's a way to get the other voices?

Aha I hacked it! For Canadians, tell the Google home app "Google assistant settings voice preference" then click the voice settings it tells you to go to. Select which one you want. Make sure your language preference is English US!

I'm in Australia and my Google Mini has an Australian Accent. I don't want to lose it and have to listen to an American accent. I don't want to try the other voices in case I can't find the Aussie accent again.
