Actually yes, we have something in common, I am an intermediate or say Junior Software Engineer. In my development Team I have the least years of experience which is about 2/3years. For some reason this led me into DevOps, currenrly taking learnings for Kubernetes from your playlist. You have been helpful to me on my DevOps journey. I will like to connect with you.

Pretty cool minidoc and it was interesting getting to hear more about your background! Your Kubernetes videos have been super helpful to me for my learning! I plan on targeting DevOps as my career trajectory. I'm a sysadmin right now but previously I was basically a software engineer for a company that builds racks for datacenters. It was pretty cool getting to see so many varieties of computers and all that cabling that goes into racks! I feel like it really demystified cloud computing for me. I'm glad you like your career and ability to make content full-time, it is very helpful, you're a great instructor, and I hope you will help inspire more women to get into technological positions. :)

Really interesting to hear this story. I've been a developer for 30 years now. I still get imposter syndrome on every new project and I always say 'it's too complicated and I will never understand it', but of course I do... eventually. In the early days, we didn't even have any devops or even source control. Once my code had gone to QA, that was the end point for me. I had no knowledge of how it actually got out to customers.

You helped me 2 years ago when i first returned into tech with 3 hour Docker video that pretty much the stepping stone for me into becoming a blockchain engineer and I would personally buy u an extra-large pizza (with coffee of course) if i ever had a chance to meet you in person. :) Do you ever made videos or have any advice on how to get started in DevOps for someone in IT but not exactly in development routes. I pretty much have the basics and fundamentals I believe however without the production experience. Now I landed a job, to my surprise as well in DevOps. They willing to give me a chance to learn about developing the infrastructures and stuffs. The amount of tech stacks are exactly like you said, overwhelming. It took me weeks to get through a simple task in which again, like you said triggering this imposter syndrome. Unlike blockchain, DevOps i feel are so much more technical and complicated. This is hard but i dont want to fail either. Hope you could share some advice.

I am working as as a software engineer. My background is mechanical engineering. Although I'm good at my work, I struggle with few things because I don't understand inner working of a computer properly. For example I don't understand why file descriptor is a precious resource and we have to give back to operating system after making changes. This is where formal education of computer science degree is helpful is what I think.

As self taught developer and I have been working as software engineer for almost a year now. I definitely think collègues might not be necessary unless you work on low level problem . Bro but you can't deny the fact that in order to get yourself in a higher you definitely need both bachelor's and master's degree like a combination of msc and mba is something which can really help you a lot if you want to reach the peak of the corporate ladder.

@@brocklesnar7269 bro I swear you don't need it here in the usa. you need practical knowlege and solving problem. all the courses you are doing in school are not all needing for the real world. I am not saying school is important but at the end of the day , it is all about having a skills. go for school but after your bachelor , please stop and start working because this is where the experience actually syncs.
@brocklesnar7269

@@gabrielfono844 Skills are important especially in IT but what many don't understand or miss out on is that in bigger multinational companies or especially banks and government sector really requires you to have a overall well organized profile with good academic background and skills one thing I don't like about this videos is that they simply ignore the view from a broader spectrum and misguide others what's even worse is that many of this so called "Software Engineers" think that by being able to build one or two websites or apps is all that is required to call yourself an engineer which is absolutely wrong there's a reason why computer science is among one of the most in demand degrees and in the long run having a degree really helps a lot not just to get a job but also broadens your knowledge.

@@brocklesnar7269 remember most people who start a software companies didn't have all that academic you are talking. They are surroundings by others folks and investors to help them on their journey. Mac Zuckerberg dropped out from havard. Elon musk don't have a cs degree but it build the first payment infrastructure called zip2. Most tech founder in silicon Valley dont have degree. They were driving by their passion. I do agree with you with degree but remember all are about solving problem that make human life easily. I won't recommend anyone to go to school after its bachelor degree obviously but people are free to go if they find it valuable.

I would disagree with the formal education part. Especially in some countries a university degree is a must to bypass the HR department to get a job. I have a college who got a job in IT without a degree but it's much harder he had to take all kinds of test before getting the job meanwhile I got the same job easily because of my degree.

The more natural road to CI/CD is from automation test engineer to devOps, like me for example. I don't trust any developer with a devOps role for a very simple reason. Devs don't know advanced testing principles, the most you can get out out of them is unit test and even those are shaky at best from what i've seem. Software testers progress more naturally into devOps roles because they already know ISTQB, the levels of testing, techniques of testing, testing types, etc so when you use tools like Jenkins for example and you schedule jobs (anything that is automation implemented is a job in Jenkins for those who are unfamiliar )for testing, it will be alot easier for you to understand the shift left culture of CI/CD.
