Randy was not skinny at that time lol. He wasn't the huge guy Hogan was, but he had some good muscle on him and his charisma and colorful attire made him larger than life. I never saw him as small. Not to mention he was great in the ring.

Certainly not at 6ft and 245lbs, he was bigger than most in Hollywood at the time. He had a great look and a look that complemented an opponent or partner like Hogan very well. Randy had his own thing and combine that with Liz at ringside made his matches into events.

The medium sized high flying wrestlers with good technical moves were always the best. I even felt this way as a little kid. Steamboat vs Savage was the most important match for me at WM3 as a 7 year old kid when wrestling was my life. The huge guys like Hulk and Andre that Vince always pushed were unrelatable to me as a young scrawny kid. They just didn't have the moves even if they had a good storyline. Savage did the best he could but Vince was obsessed with the huge dudes during that era to put into main events before the roid scandal. Savage held the belt as long as best as he could for that time period.

He held it for that amount of time because 'Hogan' was jealous of his popularity soaring, so they flipped that script into having 'Savage' being the one who was jealous of 'Hogan' What a pompous ass 'Hogan' was to work with, and he never put any one over clean! I watched wrestling back then because of 'Savage' plain & simple! His best era was his 'Inter-Continental' run & first World Heavy Weight run and NOBODY was a better king than 'THE MACHO KING' with his 'Kingdom of the Madness' gimmick! Absolutely PERFECT!

Hogan vs Andre may have drawn the house and the buy rates, but Savage vs Steamboat definitely stole the show.

@@user-xe2lo2je9z Hogan didn't need to put anyone over clean. He was a draw and him jobbing anyone would hurt his status. I still think that warrior should have not beaten Hogan or any babyface in that era. Only heels should have beaten him via cheating and that was good for business.

@@robertmoore8821 No, it definitely didn't steal the show. That's revisionist history. It was all about Hogan vs. Andre and everybody wanted to see another match back then. You can go back to the magazines and the fan letters or the earliest days of the newsgroups online. The match did wow fans but still the major drawing and sell point was still Hogan and Andre. The vast majority of the wrestling fans don't give a crap about in-ring ability, hence why the biggest draws are the worst "technical wrestlers", and the best technical wrestlers never drew a dime.

@@ShadowAngel-lt8nw Yes Hogan and Andre drew the house.Nobody disagrees with that, but when a match that isn't the main event is worlds better,it steals the show. That's how that works.Bret Hart vs Austin at WrestleMania 13 stole the show.

The Savage and Dibiase feud was great. I thought Dibiase would have been an excellent world champion. I was never a fan of twin referee angle to get the belt off Hogan. I would rather have seen Dibiase win the belt with interference by Andre at the Main Event, have Hogan injured by the interference, have savage help Hogan after the match, and then have Hogan support Savage getting a title shot against Dibiase at WrestleMania 4. I am sure most did like the way it played out though.

I always thought Ted should have had a run with the title but obviously with Randy and Ultimate Warrior becoming huge stars and Hogans politics then taker and flair coming it just obviously never materialised. Jake Roberts would have been a great heel champion to.

Nobody would would have been a bigger attraction than Hogan. Hogan was the right guy to push. Savage and warrior were close. But Hogan could work different opponents very well. Plus he looked great as a world champion. Then Vince made jobber type wrestlers like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and WWF only lost money and was going bankrupt.
