Thanks Teddy!! Cus was a good friend of my dad, who past away in 1965 when I was just 5. I heard stories of their times with him, Floyd Patterson and days at a training camp in Greenwood Lake, NY (My dad was a part owner). I finally got to visit him in Catskill in the early 80"s, heard stories about my dad and had dinner with Cus, Camille, Kevin Rooney, Teddy Atlas and Mike Tyson...I day I will never forget. Mike was training for the Jr. Olympics and had a fight that night which I had a front row seat to. What a day nearly 40 years ago. I look forward to Part 2 and reading the book!

THAT is real... anyone can hold pads and teach someone how to throw a jab and how to move in and out effectively with a bit of knowledg patience and care.... what cut did was another level

As a British boxing fan, I can say Teddy is no where near as known over here as what he is in the states. Big fans & boxers know him of course. But I've always found his opinions on fights & fighters to be top draw. In fact I've not heard anyone better than him. Soy respect for him is massive. But listening to this interview, I see him in an even better way if that was possible. This is one of the best interviews I've ever heard. Not just about boxing but every subject. Cus D'amto is a legend of boxing, his knowledge was just out of this world. Teddy was a lucky to become a student of his. Not as lucky Mike Tyson was but Cus had left his mark on this world. That most could only dream about.

i'ma a gymnastics coach.. after 15 years i realize how i'm present myself everyday heavily impacts the ambition of my students.. if i could be one type of influence, i'd want to have the same influence Cus did on his students.. Teddy is the closest i can get to experience him and i'm thankful.. i can recognize a champ easily.. every student that walks in i see a potential for a perfect athlete.. some of them listen to me more than the others.. So at work i become very one dimensional as if i was born inside of a gymnastics gym and never scene the light of any other sport, substance, celebrity, deficiency you name it.. if it wasn't gymnastics it doesn't make sense. i feel like it's a healthier face than someone with issues, or failed relationships, bad habits, crises.

Cus was a genius, he really did understand how our minds and emotions work and many of the problems (and solutions!) with the way our human minds work. This is a difficult thing, whole lives are devoted to this same study at the highest level of academia, like another guy I admire (like I admire Cus D'Amata) Dan Ariely - a professor at Duke U. that used to teach at MIT. Incredibly, Cus didn't have that kind of formal training to get to a lot of these same understandings, I love both those guys.

Hahaha, John Lennon had it wrong when he said the Beatles are bigger than Jesus, the real one is that Cus D'Amata was better than both of them.

Curious: Is it always the case that a trainer with a champion MUST be a champion trainer?

listen.. he is the only trainer who has taken someone from virtually out of school to saving him from a road to death and prison completely transformed his character and turned him into world champion and a sporting icon... THAT is real... anyone can hold pads and teach someone how to throw a jab and how to move in and out effectively with a bit of knowledg patience and care.... what cut did was another level

@@ikeman9784 yeh I get you.. but my point is this... Freddy roach had tonnes of champs.. but did he create them? no.. he took them already great and kept them in shape... that was what I meant.. cus planted the seed and built the whole damn tree

david Anthony read up on Gil Clancy ..He took Griffith off the streets and made him a Champion ..Cus did also .. Great trainers : Ray Arcel Eddie Futch Cus Emmanuel Stewart Dundee, Atlas, Rooney etc etc etc Each Trainer specializes a little bit differently: Teddy and Cus worked the physiology of fighter as well as the art of boxing ...All great trainers are usually great motivators ..But I guarantee Teddy didn’t approach Moorer’s physche the same way he did let’s say Tim Bradley ..I’m starting to learn that I can’t train every fighter the same , especially in the amateurs where it’s almost all psychological...There’s 2 boxing books every enthusiast should try and read ..”In this Corner “ and “In the Corner”.... Great show guys ..Kenny you will always look like a high school kid to me 👍
