The fact the song itself is so warm and comforting while the lyrics are..so melancholy and somewhat uncertain, it's like watching the sunrise after a sleepless night of crying.

(I HAVE IT SAVED IN MY CLIPBOARD AHAHAH MY FAVORITE PART TOO) May I be meta for a minute please? Pin metaphors and similes Against the floor in mental scores And sorely beat them 'til they bleed? Grey eyes, crowned by solar halos Follow throes of warm tornados Blow away those omens Made of painful days and poorly made oaths And later, I'll grow flowers in your absence, Then go shower in more absinthe Wrap my towel 'round sore abs And then pour hours into mapping out just How I'll keep this tower from collapsing While foundations made from Sweet and sour serenades relapse and start relaxing

Your songs *are* poetry. Each time that I listen I discover something new about the song and something about myself. Honestly originally reminded me of early Panic! At the Disco, but there is genuinely nothing like this. Hyde's songs give me nostalgia for a time that I don't know of, a time that doesn't exist. I'm so grateful that Vanilla Curls popped up in my recommended. Quick question that will probably never be answered: is the 'distain' in 'A mixture of Arrogance and Self-Distain' in the bio purposely spelled that way. If so, why? It must be some word I haven't heard of or more of Hyde's brilliant poetry.
@w.harrisonhayes4101
@w.harrisonhayes4101 4 жыл бұрын
Distain means to stain something or to disgrace something. In this case, self-distain could mean self-disgrace or self-staining which could be to contrast with his arrogance. He believes in himself to much which leads to the staining of his self or disgrace of his self. That's just my take though

becoming the lyrics comment I wanted to see - - - - [Sample] Oh haven't you heard? It'll go away in a day or two [Verse 1] Fond boy, with a flower in his heart Only hours from the start He's invested all he's got So he'll stalk the stocks And stock up on Pepto-Bismol 'Cause he's giving hugs to toilets And spoiling his dinner [Interlude] [Verse 2] Big rock, with a fire at its core If it's buried under layers Then what's it gonna warm? I'm tired of knowing not What's enough and what's a lot 'Cause I only remember The feelings I forgot [Interlude] I think my anatomy's mad at me for being so Adamantly dramatic and emphatically infatuated, in fact I'd rather be glad we waited until after we graduated Than be packing our bags, half saturated and sadly debating it Maybe it's lazy of me to sedate our relationship And date the creations I made with it, but baby A baby needs something to play with and glue to When you drop out halfway through peekaboo You speak in resisted grins, I couldn't sleep after leaving them I didn't eat for a week, but then again I've always been weak and thin Honestly, I've lost full nights contemplating these awful rhymes Those long drives felt like such short trips with you on the mind I don't think about you that much, just all the time [Interlude] May I be meta for a minute please, pin metaphors and similes Against the floor in mental scores and sorely beat them 'til they bleed? Grey eyes, crowned by solar halos, follow throes of warm tornados Blow away those omens made of painful days and poorly made oaths And later, I'll grow flowers in your absence, then go shower in more absinth Wrap my towel 'round sore abs and then pour hours into mapping out just How I'll keep this tower from collapsing, while foundations made from Sweet and sour serenades relapse and start relaxing [Interlude] [Outro]

Yo Teddy did you get inspiration from David Bowie/mott the hopple? I love this song and I'm not saying anything close to saying that you "stole it," from the song All the Young Dudes- I'm just wondering! The notes and key changes give such a melancholy vibe and I think it's cool to see different artists use the same chord progression (or whatever it's called) to achieve such different songs
