The Tudor Black Bay 58 is one of the most popular luxury dive watches on the market, balancing a reasonable set of dimensions with an impressive in-house caliber at a price that undercuts the majority of the competition by a decent margin. Given the now broad collection of five different Black Bay 58 models, I wanted to get all the watches in one place to create a guide to the collection as a whole. So in this video, I'll share the history of the 58, the general design elements that make the watch what it is, and go through each model to talk a bit about who might be the right kind of buyer for each of the variations. That's why I got the BB 58. I was also offered a Blue but the lack of the red triangle 🔻 didn't do it for me. If the blue had the 🔻, I would have got it in a heart beat.

Agree 100%... this is my alternative to the Submariner that looks modern and clinical. When feeling daily wearing... the Sub Ceramic No date is the way to go... when feeling retro mood, is the OG BB58 with that red triangle and gilt dial markers, the blue is nice but I prefer my rolex for those wearing ocasions

My friend has the Bronze and it's stunning in person. For me, the blue is the most modern and most appealing, but that OG with the warm tones and subtle nod to history probably is the best of all of them

Love my original BB58. Threw it on the black rubber strap from RubberB and it has become the daily driver in my collection. Super comfortable to wear and looks awesome with the high-quality RubberB strap.

I got one of these a few months back - what can I say, except probably the most beautiful watch I've seen/had. It is such a lovely timepiece. Teddy talks about 'one watch watch collections' and to me this would be that. Classy, vintage looking, functional and elegant with a bit of macho thrown in. Tudor nailed it!

Yep completely agree. I'm 35 and own a BB58 blue and it's an amazing watch. The build quality is superb. I have a 6.5'' wrist and although the BB58 is smaller than the BB at 39mm, it's still large and weighty on the wrist.

I have the blue bb58 on the bracelet and the watch is really really nice, I wouldn't change anything on this watch. I also have a longines spirit and that is also a superb watch, imo the 2 best watches for the money.

The BB58 OG is like how the Rolex sub used to be. Superb watch, great value proposition, in-house movement, lovely proportions & you can actually buy one! Nit-picking but losing the fake rivets and adding micro adjustment to the clasp would make the watch perfect. As it is though not far off! :-) Love mine! Great channel btw, Teddy.

A great idea Teddy getting the BB58 series of watches available for an overview of each. Personally my (biased) favorite is the black and guilt dial as I have one. I was lucky enough to see the gold version and I confess I was tempted but the price was just too high. I may find myself in the future having a second look. at some point.

I bought the BB Black (41mm.) 2 and a half years ago and the BB GMT almost one year ago a I'm really happy with both watches, in every single way. The BB 58 is a handsome watch but a little small for my wrist (almost 18 inch). Great video and many thanks for sharing.

Excellent and comprehensive review of the entire BB58 line, Teddy. I am a big fan of these watches and am planning on getting an OG (black dial/gilt) BB58 as my first luxury watch. I like all the versions, but the OG is my favorite - it reminds me of a James Bond Sub from the days of Sean Connery.

I own the BB58 and love everything about it. The comfort on my 6-5/8” wrist is only surpassed by its soothing beauty. The only drawback(or benefit) is that it’s hindered my desire to buy any other watch.

I picked up the blue 58. I've wanted it since it was released. I can now say I own it, and I bought it from an AD in Paris with my son on his first trip with me to Paris to celebrate a very good trading week on vacation that more than paid for the watch. He learned about watches, we toured Paris, and I explained to him why bought it to celebrate a milestone and a special occasion and also let him know that the watch will one day be his most likely when he turns 18. Very happy overall with the purchase and my first AD purchase of a watch that was not resale or pre-owned.

Often forgotten in reviews if you are audiophile -> the click of the taupe version is absolute heaven. Best sounding "click" of the Lunette on the market. Designed after the sound of a heavy vault/safe dial knob.

I never had any desire for any Tudor but as I saw the silver released I fell in love with it. Now it is on my wrist and I love it, I use it as daily “beater”. I have it for 2 months and it is starting to show some tarnishing, I was expecting it and looking for some tarnishing as I love tarnished sterling silver color, let’s see how it evolves…

eversince bb58 was released in 2018, I was always on the fence to get one. but ended up not buying it. however, after getting the opportunity to see the bronze boutique edition, it was a no brainer. i bought the watch in August 03, 2021 and been wearing it 24/7. too bad for my other watch collection, i dont wear them much at the moment as i am on a honeymoon period :).

Great video and very welcomed and helpful. I really would love them to put out GMT version as I’m not sure if the 41mm Pepsi version might be a bit big for my 6.75 inch wrist. I actually would prefer these Tudors to the Rolex comparables. Not every Tudor buyer is someone who wishes for the bling and gawdy nature of the latest Rolex designs.

I'm very lucky to own two brand new Tudor BB 58s. Like-for-like think of the Blue BB58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. But after watching some of your helpful videos, plus many others, I succumbed and I have just purchased a new BB58 Black version in late Dec 21 from my AD at retail - there is no shortage of them in the UK these days. I do, and still love the blue, it's magnificent, but I have also grown to adore the warmer, more vintage appeal that the black version exudes, not to mention the ever-so-slightly darker shade of steel Tudor has cleverly used to add further differentiation. Maybe owning two identically-made watches with the exact same specs is crazy, but hey it's Christmas after all !

BB58 OG became a legend right after the blue dial version came out in 2020. Prior to summer of 2020, the OG was a sleeper. Today, the BB58 OG is pinnacle of watch design and Tudor nailed it on everything except for the rivets on bracelet. The strap versions are perfect because it shows you are into the watch game and you own other heavy hitter watches. The fact they came with Silver, Bronze and Gold is very timely because of the Olympics Tokyo. Tudor knows how to capture the new watch enthusiast with these BB58 line up. The fact the line up is without Date, Tudor made it true to heritage. Rolex can learn countless things from Tudor.

I love the 925 Silver, but finally fell for the hype after your video on the Bronze Blue. That darker blue is just a perfect match for the bronze case…neither of which would I have thought I would have liked. You can’t say that Tudor doesn’t at least try to make a BB for everyone.

I can't stop using mine (The first gilt one), I just got the original Nato strap from Tudor but instead of the black-gilt one it should correspond I went for the blue-light blue (almost grey) from the blue bb58... It's a killer combo, it goes with everything!!! ...and I feel I have another new perfect forever watch.

My OG bb58 is never leaving my collection. It’s as close to perfection on the wrist as it gets, plus I love the color combo. The red triangle mixed with warm colors….it’s near perfect imo. Side note: I love the blue as well. But it’s not more versatile than the black. Also not sure if the blue has more “mass appeal” either….Sry teddy

Great video. The original 58 was my first luxury watch purchase. A nice addition to this style of video would be some predictions on where the line is going. I know a lot of people would love a GMT Pepsi in 58 proportions. Or a 58 bronze GMT with a root beer bezel.

Funny enough I might be the exception. I like Rolex and Im blessed enough to own some. I bought the BB58 because I was looking for a vintage Sub but I didnt have the time or will to keep on a vintage watch. The solution was the BB58 with that gilt dial and red triangle. Honestly the other ones dont make sense for me, in that case I rather have the Rolex, so for a Pepsi or Batman, I dont see other way to go than the crown. I understand the price difference but trust me, Im not rich, is just that I happen to save and have a good relationship with my AD :)

Got my BB58 three weeks ago! When I saw it online for the first time, it really took my breath away. The watch speaks my character so much, and I simply can't stop wearing it over my Longines and Omegas for now. I haven't felt so happy wearing a watch on repeat in a while. 39mm with the thin case thickness makes this one very versatile. Great value for money!

The BB58 is my daily driver - I can wear it for just about every occasion. I have the black with gold accents and fabric strap. Otherwise my problem is having a decent sized collection that are starting to become decorations in the house 😂

There was a growing trend for smaller watches and the obvious vintage craze. The BB58 capitalized on both in spades. Additionally, Rolex have been somewhat unobtanium for many people in recent years. Either they pay the massive price markup or wait for an unknown amount of time. As people give up on Rolex, Tudor becomes more appealing.

I am being completely honest. I went into a AD a couple months ago, specifically to buy a GMT. And while trying it on, a blue 58 caught my eye. Once I put it on, it was over. I walked out with it that evening. The only issue is fine tuning the fit is difficult.

18K gold BB 58 ??? WHY? On two other notes, the BB 58 is a great watch; and Teddy is fast becoming the go to guy for solid, thoughtful reviews of the watches we all want to see and learn about. Two thumbs (and a wrist) up!

@@hondacbx1975 You're joking, right? The new Tudor Chronos are selling thousands over list last I checked... And for a while, even most of the newer BBs were selling over list. They just started selling under pretty recently. Obviously depending on the Watch, you're much better off putting your money into a Rolex... But guess what? A lot of people can't afford a Rolex that's actually worth putting your money into, and if they do... Well, I'm sure most watching this video know how hard it is to get the majority of what Rolex produces from an AD at Retail. And then, MANY MANY enthusiasts/collectors buy what they like with absolutely no expectation to ever sell/trade any of the pieces they acquire. Personally, I do as much research as I can on a watch I have my eye on/go check it out in person and see how it looks/fits on my wrist before I even have the money set aside to purchase it comfortably. But then again, tons of people are so stuck on resale resale resale they really start to lose any genuine enthusiasm for watches/watchmaking etc they may have once had

I was fortunate enough to have got 2 great watches from my AD in 2021: Rolex Submariner 124060 and Tudor Pelagos FXD. Both now take up most of my wrist time. I also have a Sinn 103 sa BE, Sinn 856 S UTC and Seiko SKX Ninija Custom. Despite that, l still hanker after the original BB58 and having just sold my Omega Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich, if Tudor updates the BB58 with the new T-fit clasp this will be added to my collection.

That OG Black is one of the best watches to a newb. Checks all the boxes. But that silver makes for a great BB58 model specific example.

I tried this on the other day, and found it a tad small for my wrist/size. I only tried it on the fabric strap though, and the sales person indicated it does wear slightly bigger on bracelet. I put on the black 41mm BB diver on bracelet, and that one was just as thick as people say! Absolutely great diameter for my wrist though. The 42mm Pelagos wore like a dream, despite not being all that thin. Maybe it was the Titanium that made it seem smaller, but I'm in love with that thing.

Same thing happened to me. BB58 on strap, a bit small, even on bracelet. BB 41 on bracelet, a bit large. Switch it and magic: the BB 41 on leather strap: PERFECT!

@@Roberto68n Good point. I'm just normally such a bracelet person (he says while wearing a Seiko King Turtle on a Crafter Blue rubber strap) that I hadn't considered that middle ground option on the BB in 41mm. Definitely something to consider though.
