Teddy, I have been collecting for 2 years now, and the Bambino Gen 2 was what I chose for a dress watch, even over $1000 Swiss and German choices. I have been wearing it as a daily for a month now and it is incredible. Stunning watch and your reviews helped me purchase. Really great value for money.

The Explorer 124270 is one of those watches that you need to live with in order to appreciate. When I first picked up my Exp 36 it wore like no other watch I’ve owned or worn. I’d felt odd in size. After a week I can say it is the best balanced, best wearing, a subtle perfect watch .

I’ve always looked at Omega as being well known for their divers in the beginning. Before the speedy the Seamaster’s were around, but they’ve changed so much throughout the years. My first is the SMP 300m “great white” I finally saved enough to get this watch. It may be cliche but I’m shooting for a ceramic sub next. Although the Cartier Santos is one I’ve always thought should be in the conversation for collectors watches.

Really great macroscopic video, great and fair pics, well explained. As always the breadth and depth of your knowledge and quality of your videos sets the standard. Great to see the Tissot PRX feature. It really is a game change for quality vs value. Not sure there’s any watch at the quality until you get to over 5x the price point ! Broadly agree with the pics…although feel maybe Longines and Tag Heuer deserve honourable mentions….maybe instead of Orient…..but then we get into subjective territory! Great job. Great quality. Thank you for making these.

I like the JLC Reverso, if you put it on the brown polo strap it really tones it down. I also have the black alligator for dress up. This one watch, with 2 straps, is the best all-around watch for a one watch collect. With 2 faces and 2 straps, it's like 4 watches in 1.

One worry I think some have about the PRX is the size which was slightly addressed with the new 35mm quartz options, but still left those who desire an auto in the lurch. However I recently saw that there is an 18k gold fluted bezel version of the 35mm which features an automatic movement which just released, so it shouldn't be too long before the 35's get an auto too, which will open up a whole new world for a lot of smaller wrists

The Orient Bambino I think is sensational, and this is coming from someone who owns Rolex, Omega and LJC. I love the Tissot PRX auto in the blue dial. I got sucked into the Black Bay back in the day but the case shape is horrible. The BB58 is the only BB you should consider. The SKX is a fun piece and I have many SKX-focussed mods. If you want SKX fun make one yourself from aftermarket parts/mod stores. The snowflake is a great piece but I can't get into GS steel bracelet watches because I don't like their bracelets.

Great video, Teddy. I know you mentioned the Omega Speedmaster. The Omega Constellation annual calendar green dial is also stunning and under appreciated by watch enthusiasts in the US. Another is the Omega Seamaster…..classic and timeless watch. You can never get tired of this divers watch. Breitling has really made a nice comeback lately. The “pistachio “ dial has been sought after and a challenge to get at retail. IWC spitfire with the bronze bezel is also a classic pilot watch and at an affordable price point for watch collectors. Back in 1988 -1990 I had a stainless steel G-Shock. It came with a rubber wrist strap that I didn't like so I gave it a nice Seiko style clasp wristband that matched the brush grain perfect. I wore it on my wrist as I visited a pawn shop in Orlando on 441 trail. The pawn shop owner liked it so much that he offered me the jewelled movement multilanguage Seiko day/date that I recognized as his Vietnam conflict era purchase - that he had bought it while in Saigon. We traded. The gasket on my new Seiko let sea water in. It quit working. An old german watchmaker in Charlestown, S.C. fixed it for $275. I returned to Orlando and some guy raised his wrist up showing me his watch as he left a burner with his corvette. Hey that guy's rubbing it in that he got over on me! Nah. I got the better watch! I don't want to know.

Ben, just a word regarding Seiko versus Citizen idea. A few years ago I bought a Seiko watch which was solar-powered. I was having an issue with it and knew I was coming close to the warranty expiration. I had held on for an exorbitant amount of time to speak with a customer service representative. In the background, I heard a very busy call center. Since I had managed a network operations center and knew how insanely busy those offices could be I asked the young woman if there was a better time I could contact her. She told me that the following Monday would be a much better time for her. I took her at her word and contacted her the following Monday as she had suggested. I was terribly disappointed when she told me that my warranty had expired. I said that I presumed since I had begun a ticket number that my warranty expiration date I would be covered. She told me no, that was not true. Needless to say, I have never bought another Seiko since that phone call. As Citizen watches are just a dash more money, if I'm looking for a watch in that price point, I will ALWAYS BUY A CITIZEN. ALWAYS. Since that time, I've moved up to Omega, Tissot, and Carl F. Bucherer watches. If I might suggest, it doesn't take that much effort for watch collectors to move up to higher prices watches, and doing so does not require that much work. The watches are much nicer, hold their value longer, and often increase in value. The last note can allow collectors to make money while enjoying collecting watches. What could be more fun than that?

The Citizen "Lefty" automatic diver deserves at least an honourable mention in comparison to the SKX. It was for some time the official dive watch of the Italian Navy (Marina Militare). Unlike the SKX you can still find new examples quite cheaply, and the newer uprated models with sapphire crystals and hacking movements are much cheaper than NOS SKXs.

All good choices Teddy. I love the Hamilton Field mechanical but on the NATO. The PRX is incredible value for the money with a finish that would not look out of place at more than twice the price. The Reverso needs no explanation, a true classic like the Tank. I think most who have tried a Speedy would agree with the inclusion on this list. Tudor? well there are so many models that could fit this list that they have made since the revival of the brand but if I had to pick just one it would be the Pelagos LHD 42mm.

Great video, owned and sold 4 of these watches. Hamilton field, fantastic watch, simple and practical, but was trying to upgrade to Tudor and it helped pay for higher end piece, kinda regret selling, will most likely buy again. Orient Bambino, another fantastic really inexpensive watch, sold when I bought Hamilton JazzMaster, don't really miss it (Hamilton is just much better dress watch) and Casio Oak in all black, sold and don't really regret this one. It was difficult to read and looked better on website than in person. I own a basic Casio GShock DW5600 and prefer its classic look, size and functional nature. Finally, bought Tudor GMT as my grail watch, its beautiful, is extremely well made, but I sold it and am 50/50 on regret. It is great piece, but found it a bit too tall and purchased with the Tudor strap and just didn't care for it, didn't want to pour money in bracelet after the fact since I wasn't totally sold on the watch. Tudors are fantastic and think at some point might purchase another black bay and go with more basic GMT such as Seiko, Mido etc. Only like wearing GMT when traveling which I don't do a ton of. Hope this helps, this was great video but wanted to provide my opinion since I had experience with decent amount of these pieces.

Hi Teddy, love your videos. I wanted to ask if you could do a video on Marine Chronometers? Not sure how much information is out there on this type of watch style though, would be great if you could share more about it.

As someone who is kinda tired of Rolexes, you're absolutely right. The explorer is a very beautiful timepiece and maybe the only one I'd consider. I'm very very happy with how my Speedmaster and PRX automatic have treated me so in all honesty, I'll never take the leap to Rolex but I can appreciate the explorer for sure!

Just purchased the new moon watch and love it! Love the Explore but hate the new 36mm size. Have the khaki field mechanical. BlackBay 58 is definitely on my short list Good list overall. I like to see something from Sinn on this list as well.

Tried the Exp36. It's so dainty even compared to an OP36. Couple that with the gloss dial, I honestly think it's lost its way more than went back to it's roots. One man's opinion. The Khaki Auto 38 is soo good. I sold because I never sized it right on the bracelet. I totally regret that. And it's a true 38. vs the Exp39 which wears like a 40 and the new Ranger wears like a 41 nearly. BB58, cannot go wrong! Nearly perfect imho. Cool vid Teddy B.

Totally agree re the Explorer 36. WAY too dainty for most. However, for me the 39mm actually wears like a 39- if anything it could be a tiny bit bigger. No complaints though - wearing it as I type 👍🏻

@@KeepingWatchUK Cool! I'm wearing the Ranger but have the Exp39. The Exp39 is really nice. Disappears on wrist and is so cool as a dress watch or a slick casual. I'd buy it again and again. Cheers

@@jeremydahm2124 Agree man. So versatile. Ah nice hope you’re enjoying the new Ranger. For me a bit too similar to my Explorer 39. Have the BB58 & GMT from Tudor instead though & love them! 👍🏻

@@KeepingWatchUK The Ranger delivers. Running plus 1/2 a second for about 3 weeks now. 58s are amazing. I'm waiting for a red bezel. On list for a Pelagos LHD. Never thought I'd buy another 42 but it's so badass.....

I've been collecting over the past 15 years and I like designs from the four and five hundred range and many of those are Seiko and one Tissot. I have one higher end which is a Tag Heuer Carrera and I'm considering saving for a spring drive design. I understand that the King Seiko model offers one. So which would be the better choice Ted, the King or Grand Seiko?

I always wanted a Hamilton for work but at the time I was comfortable using a watch that cost $300 plus for a beat up watch (but the functions were specific to my job). I bought a Seiko field watch as an alternative because it cost me $120. Now I have easily pass that comfort zone in banging up a $500 watch but at this point I do not want to have 2 watches that do the same job. Hamilton is amazing for its purpose.
