Shabnam Virmani is a filmmaker and artist in residence at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, India. 7 years ago she started travelling with folk singers in Malwa, Rajasthan and Pakistan in a quest for the spiritual and socio-political resonances of the 15th century mystic poet Kabir in our contemporary worlds. Among the tangible outcomes of these journeys were a series of 4 musical documentary films, several music CDs and books of the poetry in translation (www.kabirproject.org). Inspired by the inclusive spirit of folk music, she has begun to play the tambura and sing folk songs of Kabir herself. Currently she is working on co-creating a web-museum of Kabir poetry & music with folk singer communities in India and developing ideas for taking mystic poetry and folk music to school classrooms. She continues to journey to new areas such as Kutch, Gujarat and draw inspiration not only from Kabir, but also other mystic poets of the sub-continent and the oral folk traditions that carry them to us. Her earlier work consisted of several video and radio programs created in close partnership with grassroots women's groups in India.

I went to google to look for an old girlfriend I once had in India by the name of Shabnam...instead I found you , and my heart feels purified with the joy I knew years ago chanting bhajans and singing songs of saints.I feel a kinship with you , and if I was near you I would probably want to give you a hug and I am sure my eyes would be filled with tears of joy for the expression of god you bring to this side of existence.

PART 2: A fire lit the forest, a bird came to sit. The wingless trees cry: We’re ablaze, we have to burn. But you, winged one, should fly! / I ate your fruit, soiled your leaves, played from branch to branch. Leave you to burn and fly away? We live and love but once! / The fire went out, the clouds rained milk. Says Kabir to Dharamdas: every day my love is new.

Shabnam speaks from her mental state of emotion. She has not witnessed religious conflicts that happened through millennium. Will of the omnipotent and omniscient lord of cosmic creation. She has not heard the real sat-sang on Spirit. She is not aware of Kabir's Ideology of Spirituality. Therefore trying out Sufism etc. Can one find water if one digs all over the ground, choose one spot you will find water without dameging the field. Mann hanse, mann rove, mann jagey, mann sovey. Mann levey mann devy, mann ka sab vyovhar. Acts of laughing, weeping, sleeping, keeping awake, giving & taking, are all due to Mind. It is this power that is polluting the whole mankind. No dip in any holy water is going to make man noble. Sant Kabir Sahib said that the world doesn’t know that Param Purush. He made the idea clear to him thus- Jug Mein Charon Ram Hain, Teen Ram Vyavahar. Chautha Ram Nij Sar Hai, Taka Karo Vichar. Ek Ram Dashrath Ghar Dolai, Ek Ram Ghat Ghat Mein Bolai. Ek Ram Ke Sakal Pasara., Ek Ram Tri Bhuvan Se Neyara. Aakar Ram Dashrath Ghar Dolai, Nirakar Ghat Ghat Mein Boley. Bindu Ram Ka Sakal Pasara, Niralambh Sabb Hin Te Neyara. There are four kinds of Ram in the world. But the world knows about the 3 kinds of Ram only whereas the 4th Ram (Sahib) is the essence. One is the Sahkar (with body) Ram whom everyone knows as the son of king Dashrath. Then the second Nirakar (formless) Ram is also known to everyone. This is because all the holy scriptures are talking about him. He is present in every living being in the form of Mind. Then the 3rd Ram is known in the form of semen that is responsible for the reproduction of the jivas of the world. Apart from these three, the fourth one, that is the rarest of all, has been called as Sahib by the holy saints. He is the Lord of the 4th lokaEternal World-Amarlok. Kabir Ek Na Janiya, Bahu Janey Kya Hoye. Knowledge about everything else is useless if one doesn’t know of Him. The knowledge about this rare mystery was given to the world for the first time by Kabir Sahib. Our Vedas and Shastras give us knowledge upto Nirakar only. These are silent about that which lies beyond the three lokas. Ved Hamara Bheid Hain, Hum Vedan Ke Mahin. Jaun Bheid Mein Main Bason, Vedbhi Janat Nahin. Kabir Sahib says that the Vedas have in them the secrets of all of us. But even these can’t tell about the secret of my abode Real Lord is even beyond Known Gods of this three worlds. Gita 8.20 Iske Aage Bhed Hamara, Janey Ga Koyi Jananhara. Kahein Kabir Janey Ga Soyi, Ja Per Daya Satguru Ki Hoyi. Kabir Sahib says that his mystery is far beyond the limits of Niranjan. Only such a devotee as has the blessings of a Satguru with him, can know it.

Agree. Kabir was the man who not only who could talk about the fourth Ram in simple terms, he was one with it. Is it possible to only admire Kabir as a greatest mystic born on earth? Is it possible to reach the heights he alluded to? Yes. It is possible now. Why? Because world needs it now more than ever before. If one really wants it, it is not only available but possible to reach the spiritual heights in this world and this life itself. Cry your heart out and spirituality will come to you.

PART 1: Whom should I love, my friend? True seekers make good company. Seek the kinship of the pure in heart. / A bamboo grew in this grove, and all the forest trembled. Religion in any form, representing any faith or almighty should always be considered as a very personal phenomenon, not a mass ritual. It is the prayer in every 'I' to the all encompassing, all pervading 'Thou'. This prayer cannot be bought or practiced in public. Fundamentalism in its embryonic state lies in the public practice of religion. Down with all public practice of religion. Down with fundamentalism.

She should narrate this to the the Islamic jihadis. Start with Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Then slowly reach India via occupied Indian land of Pakistan. She is a great artist. But I feel sad for her. This planet is not the right place. May be she is another misguided pseudo liberal who cannot see though the facts, or may be has a fear of facts. If you notice, she mentioned the Hindu effect but did even mention the cause of that effect.
