Alexei Kapterev is a Moscow-based presentations expert, author of the book "Presentation Secrets" and the world's most famous presentation about presentations "Death by Powerpoint". He is currently teaching presentation skills at the Graduate School of Business at the Moscow State University and running a small private consulting practice.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*

Very interesting! I basically did the same as you. I was a self-taught graphic designer and after struggling to find work in London, even with 8 years experience in NZ under my belt and sending out 10 applications a day, I saw a job ad for Powerpoint Designers and I was thinking 'I never knew there was such a thing'! But I knew how to use Powerpoint to an advanced level through a 3 month office studies course I'd done when I was 18, and combined with my graphic design skills I thought I'd apply. They couldn't get me in for an interview fast enough! Through willing to try something different, it got me through the doors of the biggest design agencies in the world, working on international brands and since then I've been designing PPT pitch presentations that are seen in front of the biggest international clients you could imagine. It also allows me flexibility to travel the world while I work. And not ONCE has anyone asked to see a degree. So always be on the look out for opportunities where you least expect them, and be willing to start from the ground up as you never know what doors will open for you. Good luck!

Basically what he is telling us is similar to what Mark Twain said "I've never let school interfere with my education".

I've been working on this for years and nothing has worked better for me than: 1. Read a book about subject 2. Take notes 3. Regurgitate the notes as if teaching, with correct sentence structure (for eloquence). This way, you 1. have the input 2. Refine it in writing 3. Output it as well. American Government 101, the book, has been a God send for American political history (and it's not as elementary as it sounds).

english as a tool and ONLY tool is mediocre simply because english has no strong linguistic foundation! it is a copy and paste and it is a truly ambiguous language with no synonyms nor antonyms. otherwise why would anyone need a lawyer just to be able to half ass interpret the word in court or any conversation that involves the law!!! english invests in its mla or apa format! it needs a r
