Theary Seng is an author, a human rights activist, and the founder of the Cambodian Center for Justice & Reconciliation (CJR), Civicus: Center for Cambodian Civic Education (CIVICUS), and the Association of Khmer Rouge Victims in Cambodia (AKRVC). After the Khmer Rouge killed both her parents, she and her surviving family trekked across the border for Thailand in November 1979 and emigrated to the U.S. one year later. She wrote Daughter of the Killing Fields (London, 2005), which will be updated and available in North America (Seven Stories Press NYC, 2011). She is working on a second book on justice and reconciliation in light of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal and her role as the first recognized victim civil party to confront the senior Khmer Rouge leaders in international law. Theary sits on the Governing Board of various organizations, including the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in the East Asia & Pacific (ANSA-EAP) operated by the Ateneo School of Government, now an independent Foundation registered in the Philippines; and the Human Rights Resource Center for ASEAN (HRRCA), a Foundation registered in Indonesia.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

Her speech is so nice. I really love the way she said that what we want is not only peace or justice but peace with justice. Only peace or justice is not adequate to people to live peacefully. Peace provide happiness and justice provide right to people. She emphasized on the usage and necessity of provide justice. Is she wanted to say that the ECCC is not enough to prove justice to Cambodian? I think she is right. The justice that our people want is more than this. Sopha Ven Zaman University

Well spoke Lady! You should look at cause and affect But please pay attention to what is going on now so we can help the future. Or there will be no future at all! Where Pol Pot had learnt the theory of killing from? Who allowed to get into the country during those 3 years and 20days? cut a lot timbers and exported all the farmers produce that we worked all days all nights for and not allowed to feed ourself? We were drugged to kill each other for the same people's benefit, then when we got secured, we owed ones for ever. Everybody wants a piece of Cambodia. As long we allowed they will keep taking it till it all gone. Of course the one that got caught in the act should responsible for it, but you can not rule out or ignore the plot and cause, otherwise, we allow thing happening more and more until we have nothing left. it is happening right now under our nose just in different from that all! Thank You very much for people who working very hard to restore Cambodia, pay attention to the real matter, produce real results, who able to look beyond themselves to preserve Cambodia for decay and rotten. Do what you can like Mr Chorn Pond for instant. Show your power by doing the right things for Cambodian people. If you think that you are sitting on powerful driver seats, use it so before you die, your grand children and great grandchildren proud and remembered you. We need everyone to do the right things for Cambodia, and Cambodian people. If we lost our country we are no body no matter how rich one is. You have enough! Please stop talking but doing the right things and being a good and great Cambodian citizen. I am a simple citizen who can only speak a simple language. Do the right thing, stop destroying!

Cambodia and international are wasting a SHIT load of funds for this tribunal. You might as why! You might say we need justice (a nice word in writing)! But in reality my friend peace and justice are just two words that no one can really acquired at the present moment! Back to tribunal...instead of wasting money on this, Cambodia and international community should rather spend time and more produce a more accurate documentary so that the younger generation can learn from. This way, ....continue
