Күн бұрын

When your health is a top priority, trying to make sense of all the information on nutrition can be quite confusing. In this talk, Dr. Mike Israetel summarizes the scientific findings on diet and health and lays out the simple rules of diet design that can be used by nearly everyone to get the most out of their health without the confusion and contradiction of typical diet advice. Dr. Mike Israetel holds a PhD in Sport Physiology and is currently the Head Science Consultant for Renaissance Periodiization. Mike was formerly a professor of Exercise and Sport Science in the School of Public Health at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he taught several courses, including Nutrition for Public Health, Advanced Sports Nutrition, and Exercise, Nutrition and Behavior. He has worked as a consultant on sports nutrition to the U.S. Olympic Training Site in Johnson City, TN and has been an invited speaker at numerous scientific and performance/health conferences, including nutritional seminars at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. A co-founder of Renaissance Periodization, Mike has coached numerous athletes and busy professionals in both diet and weight training. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Mike is a competitive bodybuilder and Brazilian JiuJitsu grappler. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

nobody doubts the scientific method, they doubt the motivations of politicians that use the rhetoric of science to say things definitively. as a scientist and a lawyer myself, science to me is a continued conversation with reasonable pushback and investigation of observations & testing. it is not something that you “believe or disbelieve” in such a binary way. look, the cdc is still coming out with new information every day, learning new things that sometimes overturn our previously held beliefs. i’m just saying it’s silly to suggest anybody doubts “science,” they doubt improperly wielded tools that help us investigate the world.

No one doubts science in the sense that when there's a scientific vs. religious explanation, people prefer the scientific one. But there could be doubt within the science as mentioned in the video, like this study says A but that study says B, which one should I trust? Even someone who is hardline anti-mainstream science always refers to a quack scientist to make their point instead of going "this is what my religion says and you're wrong for thinking otherwise!"

People put so much stock in fad diets and supplements and making binary moral judgements about foods that they miss the broad strokes that actually matter. @@patrickdisalvo6532 ok let’s not being in the hippie bro science stuff here🤣 all the food you stated are very healthy and should be recommended. The sum of research shows a “plant based” diet is best. plant based is “plant heavy” whole grains, fruits and veggies, and includes lean meats dairy.
