Matthew Gray is a Director, Sound Designer, Actor and Educator. Matt has taught and directed at 3 of the top 5 schools: #5 (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), #4 (Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama) and #3 (NYU Tisch). He has performed his work in Canada, UK, Holland, Belgium, Germany, China, and the USA. He has also collaborated on projects and research with experts in Robotics, Digital Art, Game Design and Computer Science.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Not sure why this guy is getting negative comments. I found this lecture very fascinating. He is just talking about acting from more of a philosophical, technological, and intellectual perspective. Nothing wrong with that. Actors need to consider the ramifications of what he's saying regarding technology and the future of acting and actors.

I don’t think it’s so much negativity that he is trying to emulate, but truth. It’s reality. As an aspiring performer, this is something I feel we have to understand to fully portray ourselves authentically. He made brilliant statements. I applaud him.

He doesn't seem to actually make a point. He's just bringing together disconnected concepts based on his opinion

"I don't label myself. I direct, but I don't call myself a director. I act, but I don't call myself an actor." "I'm an educator as much as I am a collaborator."
