For more information on April Rinne, visit our website: www.tedxfrankfurt.de April is at home in motion. By age ten, she had been to most of the 50 U.S. states, and loved finding new places and people. Following university, she spent nearly four years guiding tours around the world, then traveling locally with a backpack on a shoestring budget, with the goal of seeing how much of the rest of the world lived as she could. That led her to a “portfolio career” spanning global development, law, technology, financial inclusion and the sharing economy. A fan of using innovation to spark a better, human-centric future, April loves rethinking how we work, live, create, collaborate, invest and plan. This is challenging in a world increasingly in flux. She advises, speaks, writes, teaches and does handstands in almost every corner of the globe, and has now traveled to more than 100 countries. Wanderlust is never far away, but she is finally watering her local roots in Portland, Oregon. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

So much more powerful than talking about "flux" in the abstract. Beautiful storytelling April.

Such a powerful talk, April. Thank you for teaching us about a flux mindset. Amazing that you presented this pre-Covid but it also validates the importance of the message. Bravo!

This hits home. I also lost both of my parents during my junior year of university. What a whirlwind it has been. Finding new places and exploring the world out there has been my saving grace. I love the way you describe flux and the idea of permanent impermanence. And letting go of the future I had in mind for myself and the one my parents had in mind for me. Really, just "wow" to everything you have to say. This talk means a lot to me. I will work harder to get out of my own way to let "flux" happen. Thank you

I have a tough time with this- Ms. Rinne successfully navigated a life change thrust upon her and job changes that she chose. My own personal experience was of very difficult periods during transitions despite acceptance of the situation put upon myself by me or others. Especially hard was realizing something was not working either environmentally, psychologically or economically and having to bootstrap and move it. I’ll check out the Flux book Ms. Rinne authored- not finding it at any libraries though…

Very soon there will be a rapture (disappearance) of people who love God with all their hearts. Immediately after the Rapture, the Great Tribulation will begin. It will be a very scary time. Read the New Testament, because it described what the future holds for our world. Even though this future will be terrible for some, it will be happy for others. The choice is ours. Please make peace with God. Only God knows the future and how to help a person in his future. Our future depends on whether or not we respond to God's call for repentance and reconcile with Him. If we love God, He will bless our future. If we reject God - we will deprive ourselves of His blessing and will be suffering in our soul. Jesus Christ suffered for all sinners, so that everyone who calls on His Name will be saved. Jesus cares about us more than anyone else in this world. He loves us. As soon as we understand, that He is the only friend who really cares and ask Him to forgive us for all our sins, confess to Him our whole life, and ask Him to fill the emptiness of our soul with His love, a miracle happens. We sense the reality of God's blessing. Our hearts fill with indescribable happiness. We receive the gift of eternal life with Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless someone reading these lines in this bold step towards happiness with God.

Nothing is any different today than two centuries ago... Marx worried about all the jobs mechanization would destroy, the little ice age had just finished making people worried about the climate, and information overload was common. We're simply more arrogant, selfish and egoistic than they were so we take it harder. Instead look at it this way, innovation brings wealth, health and opportunity. The climate always changes no matter what so it's foolish to worry about it. As it is to fret about that which we can't control. Then there's information overload. Recognize that even in 99% of all the information was garnered last week... most of it is irrelevant, counter productive and outright harmful. So can be ignored. Be happy (it's a choice), don't worry about that which we can't change, prepare instead and ignore the onslaught of anti information (propaganda) that passes as knowledge.
