I feel as the luckiest person to live during such brilliant blooming mind season! During 37 years I felt as a disorganized person because I could´t manage all my knowledge. However, since my 1st time using Mind Maps, I´ve just got completed 35th course in the last 12months only! Each day I´ll be able of contributing more and more for our Planet! Excellent, thought provoking, speech. As Tony said, we now live in the Intelligent Age but people and societies alike need to behave intelligently to create an intelligent world. This is not a top-down dictum but an emergent phenomenon. The more people use meta-tools such as Mind Maps, the greater the chance of creating an Intelligence Revolution!

This video brought tears to my eyes. We all were babies as genius scientists, and we still are.

I hope Tony Buzan is correct when he says we will now begin to think intelligently. It seems to me that, with the speed of information and the loss of the buffer of time so desperately needed by our brains for reflection and study, we will rely more and more on AI and less on our own innate ability to reason, consider and make decisions which include our own feelings and emotions. The power of feelings and emotions should never be underestimated, their impact on us is faster and stronger than that of thought. As a stress specialist, I see much of today's mental, emotional and physical demise due to the sheer speed of ICT combined with the lack of time which in turn creates inner head/heart conflict, dis-ease.

Mind mapping is the best way to learn and remember what you learn in a short time especially for students , so I advice you to learn its basics.

I heard of this man when I was reading Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer.

concept mapping had been used by most thinkers since time immemorial with or without the use of paper or computer. This is the reason why ancient, medieval thinkers were so sharp because of their habit of organizing mentally like nodes/branches their knowledge radiating from their central thought. Less writing materials, more ideas generated. Thus, Literature masterpieces, original ideas were born out of this discipline of concept mapping. Nowadays, because of over supply of writing materials, apps, and tools--less deep thoughts because people rely on what is available on the net.

This was a wonderful talk and I cry during the last 7 minutes of it and I don;t know why.

Very efficient method to organize the information whenever we suffer any information overload, it helps us in knowledge management . I remember being tested for gifted learning somewhere around third grade. This person came to my school, pulled me out of class and asked me about what I liked to do. I said the usual stuff.. play video games, play sports, etc. I went back to class and that was that. I was “not gifted” according to this person. A couple years later, I was pulled out of class again for the “gifted” test. This time, a different person asked me to write a story about something mundane. Cups in a cupboard or something like that. I made up a story about the “accidental invention of the trumpet” and passed the “gifted” test with flying colors. This, and Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” have a lot to say about how creativity is beaten out of us and how we can get it back.

How can we use mind maps for problem solving? I've done some experiments - here's a short summary. I use the following three building blocks, which I can combine in different ways. Building block 1 - the sheet layout: I use an A4 sheet in landscape format and divide it in 3x3 boxes of equal size - there's no need for exactness and I do it without a ruler. Alternatively, I can use 3 columns and make boxes of different sizes - but at the beginning, 3x3 boxes are easier to handle. I fill the boxes in column 1, then in column 2 and then in column 3. Building block 2 - the box layout: I use each box for a simple small mind map. The size limit of the box will come as a surprise, but it has a number of advantages which I will describe in a moment. Instead of mind maps, I can use diagrams, ordinary text with indentations or math terms. Building block 3 - thinking tools: I can use thinking tools as topics for the small mind maps, to stimulate my thinking about the problem, like: What are key questions? What are my options? How can I split the problem into smaller parts? I find a personal collection of thinking tools very useful - I have a corkboard over my work table and can access dozens of tools and stimuli with one glance. For me, this process has four main advantages. First, a conventional mind maps works best with a couple of main branches of equal size. In problem solving however, I often want to develop only one or two branches over many steps, and this leads to an unsymmetrical, unbalanced mind map. Secondly, moving from one box to the next needs a moment of orientation - where do I stand, and what can I do next? This re-orientation happens much more often in the 3x3 layout than in an ordinary mind map. Thirdly, I find it easier to reflect on a previous thought in a new box than in a branch of an ordinary mind map. Fourth, the combination of mind maps and thinking tools seems very powerful to me. Some remarks: Depending on handwriting size, paper size and personal taste, we can experiment with 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 boxes. As a fourth building block I'm using a zettelkasten to organize my sheets - but that's outside the scope of this comment.

I've always observed what he's saying about daydreaming and thinking like an act of science in children and as a necessity for myself and others all my life, but was a lot of the times ashamed or even afraid to show it or confirm its usefulness.

Years ago I took a course on teaching and they used what was called people mapping and it went around to how you think and how you want to present anything in lecture form so this is very close to what the professor here is talking about

I hate how his site claims he is the "Inventor of Mind Mapping". While he also says "This is the natural way of how your brain works". Wich I know is true because I came up to this idea all by myself. I got all excited first to be the first one to discover this. But I guess not.

Knowledge worker and knowledge management do not work. Manage the manager of knowledge - the brain of multiple intelligence. What is difference between brain and mind, mind and consciousness and quantum field?

I just want to buy a simple no frills basic imindmap program for my computer like the imindmap5, but they have ruined it. It is now so expensive and the capabilities way more than the average person wants. I think they have their marketing wrong. There should be a basic inexpensive version for the home user and then different levels of capabilities for business applications. I am so upset that I can't get the basic at a decent price because the fluidity of the imindmaps are way nicer to work with than all the other cheap versions out there.

VALIDATED: have been saying for the last several years, since I figured it out, that WORDS was my second language. I think in pictures (and thanks to synaesthesia, associated feelings and sensations) and have to translate into words. Sadly it's been a struggle my entire life.

I think that the word that he is looking for is curiosity. Everyone is born looking for something and analyzes all until they find it. The question is... What are we looking for why do we look?
