This introductory lecture explains what the advantages of a TEE/TOE study is, and what its indications are. Learn to encounter pathologies such as: left atrial appendage thrombus (LAA thrombus), flail leaflet of the mitral valve, patent foramen ovale (PFO) with contrast, atrial septal defect (ASD), myxoma, prosthetic valve obstruction and endocarditis.
We will also discuss the complications and risks of TEE/TOE, and finally how a TEE/TOE exam is performed.

why would you inject contrast medium in every patient regardeless of the indication? In public systems it doesn't seem justifible for me from economic viewpoint

At 17:48, we also shield the probes with moutpiece. Those probes are quite expensive lol. Similarly human life is more valuable and irreplacable than those probes doctor.

If a patient had his left atrial appendage completely removed by a previous mini-maze operation then would that be apparent using the TEE?

It depends, sometimes even after this procedure you can still see a little cave left over, still in TEE it is much smaller, than anticipated.

I subscribed to this course and was terribly disappointed with one of instructors called Bruno, as he wasn't fluent in English. Would recommend this course if they do voice over for Bruno.
