Teen author lands big book deal

Jake Marcionette was just 12 years old when he started cold-calling literary agents hoping to land a deal to get his book published. The young author's tale about the hardships of middle school life goes on sale this week, and he's already at work on a sequel. Jim Axelrod reports.

I'm a 14 year old author and I have finished one book called Shadow Zone but it is currently in editing. I'm also in the middle of a poetry book and 46,000 words through another book.

I’m almost 12. I wrote a 131 book and hope to get it published but probably won’t because my parents don’t believe it will get anywhere, when they HAVENT EVEN READ THE BOOK

This is awesome and I actually truly wholeheartedly understand what it’s like to be a young author and to love writing and don’t ever lose that keep writing I stopped writing for a long time and I was very unhappy but now I’ve picked my pen back up and I am writing again if you could please send me the name of your publisher and your agent I would like to get my books on the shelves they’ve been sitting on my shelf just gathering dust and it’s time for them to get out to the world and let people read my books so if you would please send me your agent and how you started to pose your book I would really appreciate it thank you and I hope you have a blessed day❤ also remember to always keep writing it’s a beautiful gift from God I know I steward my gift very well but now it’s time for people to read what I have been writing instead of letting it collect dust ❤

I'm a teen writer too! I do dystopian and historical fantasy and my current project is a YA dark historical fantasy set in Korea with mercenaries and magic. My inspiration for this project is probably gonna be These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and The Damned by Renee Ahdieh. I am unsure if I wanna work on it early 2022 or right now though.

How do people get the money to publish books? can you guys please tell me? Anyone who published or knows about it.

Arione Criner Writers don't pay for writing, that's the publishers job. If you write a job, edited it, and have the final cut version, contact a literary agent and ask them to work for you in order to get published, DON't contact the publisher yourself, and always aim at legitimate publishers, not the ones who asks for money, their a thing called vanity press, it's something like Self Publishing. So get a literary agent and ask them to accept your manuscript and then let them sell it to a publishing house. They (the publishers) will pay you an advance. Sadly though if your book doesn't sell, you have to pay them back the amount they gave you in the advance, anyways, good luck!

+Xark rinur Yeah, an author should never have to pay for publishing-money flows towards them. Though you don't have to pay back the unmade part of an advance.
