My 12 year old niece wanted a room make over. When we asked what she wanted for a color palate she said "black." We all thought it was some sort of bizarre Goth thing. Turns out she wanted black because she wanted backlit translucent photos of galaxies, stars and planets hung all over the room and have the room just illuminated by the universe. When she was 16 we got her a 16" telescope and built an observatory for her in the back yard. She's 28 now and two years ago she got her Ph.D. in astronomy.
