I really admire Olympic weightlifters. Strong high Bar squat no HEAVY belt and Ass To Grass squats doesn't cheat the depth but goes further. Not only they put impressive numbers in the Squat and deadlift but also phenomenally heavy numbers 🪨 at the snatch , and clean and jerk. These Olympic weightlifters put the weight above their heads pick up from floor and put it above their heads. Truly olympic weightlifters are the STRONGEST STRENGTH athletes.

@@ck-rd2ce Love to see your point of view. I see Oly lifters as the true greater athletes compared to strongman and PL'ers as the sport (to name a few: speed, strength, and requires cardiovascular endurance). Unless you're arguing for raw strength (i.e strength from a standstill position)? But then again, strongmen are seen as "stronger" cause they're mostly bigger guys so it would make sense to compare apples to apples with the heavyweight Oly lifters. I would put PL'ers at the bottom of the barrel though

@chriswebster839
@chriswebster839 Жыл бұрын
Olympics weightlifters rarely have spotters, as it's a lot easier to just sink into the bottom of the squat, release the bar and jump forwards to dump it on the floor when you squat high bar vs low bar. Even the spotting (when it happens) is different though - it tends to be both hands underneath the bar and just a light touch to assist, rather than almost hugging from behind.

Oly lifters treat the movements as a true sport from the beginning. Every detail of technique is mastered before even attempting heavy weights. Most powerlifters build on top of lacking or missing fundamentals. They're clueless most of the time, unfortunately. Also because oly lifters tend to start much younger. Powerlifters often start off in fitness.

I definitely agree w this. To add on, weightlifters are much more focused on trunk stability and building structural support around the hip and knee which leads to bigger numbers too!

Correct position - speed - then you earn the right to add weight. Just started weightlifting recently coming from a powebuilding style program and it's a totally different ballgame - it's a real sport! Fun as hell to be moving explosively and athletically as opposed to being a human forklift.
