I think you can detect the emotion from the three members of Pink Floyd here because of the subject matter of this song. The song was conceived and written as a tribute and remembrance to Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett. Barrett was pushed out of the band in 1968 because of his drug use and troubled mental health, which had affected his ability to integrate with the other band members and create and perform as a musician. He was replaced by his former school friend David Gilmour, who had initially been brought in as second guitarist. The remaining band members felt guilty about having removed him, but although they admired Barrett's creativity, they were concerned about his severe mental decline and felt it had been necessary.

My late father was there back in 1994, (two years before I was born) he always said that the recording did not do justice to just how amazing it was to be there. He had goosebumps the entire way through.

A cool dude in jeans and tee-shirt playing a guitar, no half dressed dancers bouncing around on stage, no auto-tune or other sound altering devices. Just pure music and visuals and musicians who know their stuff! We were a lucky generation!

This is how they opened the concert, no simple song to ease into...get relaxed and find a groove to settle in..no they dove right into it, just a brilliant performance. When I'm in the mood for Pink Floyd I go right to this concert, studio versions just no longer do. Great reaction Silas, it's so awesome to see your appreciation for great talent

The Pulse Concert was part of The Division Bell tour. They played that arena in the video for 14 nights straight. In the whole tour they played to 5.5 million people 😱

You're right that's not a small crowd in fact that same venue sold out 15 nights in a row! This is Earl's Court in London and when Pink Floyd would announce they were going to tour people would leave in the middle of their own weddings to go stand in line for tickets!! Of course I'm being facetious here but it's damn near true!! I've seen them four times in three different decades and I've seen about a hundred concerts from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin and I've never seen a better concert than Pink Floyd puts on! I saw them twice in the '70s once in 87 and this 1994 Pulse concert and every one of those concerts were Beyond description!! Enjoy watching somebody react to Pink Floyd the same way so many of us did the first time we heard them!!

The entire Pulse concert is available on DVD. You should own it. Or stream it on a big-screen TV….

I was at that concert and it was the greatest gig I've ever been to by miles. Being there was another dimension to seeing/hearing music, I felt it too if that makes sense. What a night!

This entire concert/video is perfect really. This is the peak of live music right here. Other bands can bring you higher energy performances (and those are my favourite kind), but nobody can top this flawless execution, the true emotions in the performance, and obviously, the insane light show Floyd built for this tour. You really ought to just plan on doing the whole thing, not all at once or in back to back videos, but there's not a song on here that isn't amazing and worth your time. It's the peak.

My old program from that show is packed away in storage....but they had 2 or 3 stages built...( modeled after The Hollywood Bowl ) and transported around the country to the different venues. i think they liked the sound & wanted to reproduce the acoustics. While they would be playing in one city....a road crew was already setting up in the next. I believe they had a fleet of over 100 big rigs bringing along all of the lights, lasers & sound equipment. It was SOMETHING. .

Love your reaction to PF's music. This particular song was a tribute to the late Syd Barrett who was their founding member of the band way back in the 1960's and who they lost to drugs after only a few years of being with the band. You should read up about the true story of Syd turning up at the studio as the guys were in the middle of recording this tribute number 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. It's extraordinary.

Notice how the stage is shaped like an eye. I also think it held the record more most lights installed. The most beautiful stage ever designed IMO. This concert was part of the Division Bell tour, with 112 concerts in total. There were about 20,000 people in this venue.

Saw them in Atlanta in 75. They only did 2 dates in the USA, Atlanta & LA. They were still doing parts of the Animal your and this Album. They played 3 hours. Great lighting and quad sound too. Just imagine the music spinning from speaker to speaker. It was freaking amazing

PULSE is one of the greatest concert films ever.

To answer a couple of your questions: - 1) This was their last ever tour - but not their last concert. I actually saw them three nights later. Their very last concert was at Live Eight in 2005. 2) The projections on the circular screen were all films (NOT videos) made by or on behalf of the band.

Was blessed to see this concert twice. Have seen them a number of times over the years and they never disappointed but this being their last tour, took my kids to see them as well. Now, when I watch these reactions, I go right back to those 2 wonderful nights like I'm still watching them in person and in total awe of the greatness of these guys. They never get old and this is 50+ years of listening to them! Glad the younger generation is catching on to their greatness. IMO, there is no better band!

I've been following pink floyd since the 1960s I was there at Earls Court for 5 of the 14 night I had seats in various places from 3 rows from the front to on the balcony best view was at the back worst 3 rows from the front as floyd is very much a visual show I spent most of the night looking up. Although just being there was an experience you never forget. It's a pity you will never get to see anything like this live as I really can't think of any bands who can match floyd live

I was at one of the shows of this tour ("Division Bell") in 1994. My memory is usually better than average, but I remember very little about the concert, much to my regret. I was the designated driver. Maybe if I had been stoned like my brother was, I would remember that night as well as he does!

No one can bend a note like David Gilmour. No one! And my absolute favorite from this concert is "Sorrow".

I'm afraid my friend, you'll never have the chance to feel the full magic of it. The sound they produce in their live shows is by no means reproducible by even the finest sound equipment that exists to this day. Pink Floyd has been unique as an experience, and the fact that has amazed me is that they sounded better in lives than they did in studio perfomances. And their finest trick is what they do in most their works. They start by working you into a feeling, some kind of mood, then they put in just a couple of meaningful verses and in the end they soundtrack your thoughts into understanding what they mean. And trust me, they always have a meaning that you have to work through, taking your time, with the suitable background tools to stimulate your feelings. It's just what they've been doing for years. To some people this is soothing, to others that's annoying and that's why people either love or hate them. There's no such thing as a middle way. I'm on the lovers' side, have always been there, since first listening to "Echoes" 50 years ago, and that has affected my life in many spectacular ways

The video playing in the background is an abstract artistic vision of the music. It is their own creation. Everything Pink Floyd does is original. Although rumor has It that if you listen to the song "One of These Days" from the same concert, you're going to hear a little riff from the British Sci-Fi series "Doctor Who" in the middle. Also check out "Sorrow " from this same concert. You keep mentioning the size of the crowd. 😏 Pink Floyd played to anywhere from 30 to 100,000+ people per show during most of their career. This show would probably be on the lower end of that scale. The crowd was probably in the neighborhood of about 70,000 when I saw them at Soldier Field in Chicago that year. And that's one of the smaller stadiums!!

There's nothing to say about David Gilmore and his playing!! He's way above everyone and you would never need vocals with any Floyd or Gilmore tunes!! David's guitar solos could go on forever and never get old or boring!! He's just amazing!

Just remember Silas, video recording at a concert such as this is the closest we have come to inventing a time machine. For now, or go back. That may change at some point in the future, but humans haven't advanced far enough in their understanding of time to do anything but fantasize about time travel. Personally, I am very grateful that we at least have good audio and visual recordings of everything imaginable. And to think it wasn't really that long ago that people didn't even have this medium.

Incidentally, my Boss was telling me he recently went to See Roger Waters in concert which is part of the tour he didnt finish because of lockdown. It has recently got him into the media due to his mid concert political content about current affairs (this happened at the concert my boss was at). 1994 Pulse concert was not their last performance. They toured in 2006. Richard Wright (keyboards) died in 2008. Along died a lot of special songs . As David Gilmour (guitarist) won't play them without him. Probably to stick it to Roger's Waters as he kicked RW out of the band for lack of contribution. The audacity 😢
