Teens huh? What can we do with them? There are no accountability for teens doing serious crime and it makes it hard for all of us in the community if we don’t change anything

Teens were used to break into homes in my neighborhood long ago. The van outside of our HOA neighborhood waited while the trained teens broke into a targeted home. However, one advantage of a genuine HOA neighborhood is that many of the people are alert. The thieves got caught and the van was caught. The teens were NOT prosecuted as expected. Only the van driver was caught on attempted burglarly charges which are minor. It sucks that they more or less escaped any real penalty. Our city doesn't like jailing too many people long term as it has a small jail and the country runs the prison to which the city pays approx $78K per prisoner per year plus additional special expenses if that prisoner is sickly or needs special care. So you can imagine imprisoning a mere 10 people is $780,000 out of our city budget that would be used for other things like road maintenance, building maint, equip maint, hiring staff, etc. Criminals just cannot be detained, housed, fed, cared for cheaply like they are in Taiwan, China, or North Korea. So teens and small crime operators continue to get away with crimes due to the many human rights laws requiring expensive care be provided for each detainee.

A teen will be very popular in prison but it's more likely a Democrat district attorney will reduce charges and keep these criminals on the streets. The Democrat agenda is more crime more Kaos more government .

Why should the parents care? They aren't held responsible. The parents can't be jailed for what their kids do. And I've never heard of a parent fined or successfully sued for what their kids did. It becomes an issue of the house or business having property insurance to cover burglary and vandalism and medical insurance for the beatings and maiming the kids performed on the victims.

I live in Seattle. Crime is so common in our West Coast cities, that we stop paying attention to it. Almost every time I go shopping, I see shoplifting. Some people do not even bother to try to be sneaky. They grab stuff and walk out the door knowing that nobody is allowed to stop them.
