Issue 39 should be the most valuable issue just because it is one of the few issues inked by George Perez himself. Great action and spread pages in the first few pages. Then good reveals and characterizations for the rest of the book. I like that you are including the other issues in the Judas Contract. As you said, the creators, Marv Wolfman and George Perez, took time to plan this out for a full year setting up the Judas Contract storyline. That is good plotting and writing. Who is Donna Troy story issue was the one I hated as a kid because there is no superhero fight, but as an adult, it is a beautiful story and bond between Dick and Donna.

This series is just never going to be topped. My family returned after 3 years overseas in 85 and I discovered my first comic shop. It was actually the front corner of a department store a guy rented, but before that comics were something you got in a 711 or Highs and you'd grab cheap random old issues at Howard Johnsons on road trips. NTT v2, probably num. 9 or 10 was probably my 1st issue, other than randoms I read as a child. This was the no comics code run. I fell in love and went back and bought the first series in order, so I got to enjoy all the surprises as they were meant to be read. This storyline was brutal and the best thing I'd ever read at the time. This got me into New Mutants and XMen. But NTT is eternally my number one comic.

Book 4 was one of the first comics I ever bought at my LCS after it opened. That was the only issue of the series they had in store. I'd love to own all 4 issues someday, even though I pretty much know how the story goes. I watched the DC animated movie Teen Titans "The Judas Contract" a few months prior to buying that issue. I thought the movie was excellent, I definitely put in my top 10 favorite DC animated films. Christina Ricci was fabulous as Terra as was Miguel Ferrer as Deathstroke. Those 2 stole the show. But Nonetheless I appreciate you giving a thorough review of the story and going through all 4 books, since the movies condense things and change things up. Even though I haven't read books 1-3 and have only seen the movie I agree The Judas Contract is a tragic story but a really great story. A well told story. After watching this video and learning about the different subplots that were not covered in the film. I now love the story even more now. Great job Englentine!

This story was in my Top5 all-time as a kid. Still fits into my Top10 somewhere... havn't really thought too much about how that list would go these days. It's an absolutely great story.

To me , the best part of this story was the fact that Terra DIDN'T turn face at the end . I don't know about you but I was positive she would end up turning on Slade , having spent enough time with the Titans to change her perspective . When that not only didn't happen and then she was actually killed , it was shocking . It was also one of the best endings to one of the best storylines of any comic book in history . So I would have to say the answer to your question in the title is a resounding YES .

100% agree, X-Men and Titans ruled the 80s. The DC shows: Doom Patrol and Titans made me want to complete the gaps in my TNTT collection. I was missing #1-11, #29 and #31. Have them all now except #2 and DC Presents #26. Those last two might take a while. $$$.

Why isn't Deathstroke not considered responsible for manipulating and grooming Terra? By making the storyline about how evil Terra is compared to Deathstroke it comes across as victim blaming.

The Animated movie wasnt bad but i do get how the Comic Version is still loved more..Nowdays it is too easy to check Wikipedia and learn that Terra is a Traitor. Also there was some Defensive points done nowdays with the whole Terra and Slade having Sexual Relationship but i guess that whole thing is and stil is a bit of a Grey/Weird
