Benny was on the piano, taught himself. I met him in Stockholm a while ago, so lovely, given the band has sold over 400 million albums, I asked him about his time in ABBA, he just said, that was just 10 years of my life, I've moved on to other things. I thought wow, you've underestimated your brilliance!

You know Benny Andersson, the guy on the piano, married the auburn haired girl Anni-Frid aka Frida and Agnetha the blonde girl married Bjorn the guitarist. They were 2 couples from Sweden. That's where the name comes from Agnetha Bjorn Benny Anni-Frid Pronounced ahh bahh Both girls had fantastic voices and took turn on lead vocals but when the two harmonized together it was often called ABBAS third voice. No one can harmonize like Frida and Agnetha. The men wrote all the songs and lyrics and played most any instrument (Bennys first and favorite instrument is the accordian) they did back up vocals too. Ah, that's Benny Andersson. He's one of the B's in ABBA. The two girls both sang lead in varying songs. They were, and still are, incredibly successful. They are all aged 73 to 78 now.

If you look at Benny Andersons (On piano/keyboard) discography it will blow your mind. Or.... Do you know of ANY other band that released a new album after a 40 year pause? Benny on the piano is a genius. He's the Schubert of the 20th Century. Apart from Abba you should check the musical "Chess" (and also "Christina"). Those musicals are great. He's also done a lot of Swedish folk.

Nice reaction and extra props for reacting to the live version of this although some of their videos are fun in a retro sort of way. This group were famed for the catchy compositions of the males Benny (Piano) & Bjorn (Guitar) and the stunning vocals of the female leads, especially the purity of Agnetha's voice (Blonde) but also the warm chocolatey vocals of Anni-Frid (Brunette) but also as duet who harmonised to perfection and of course it helped that they were beautiful and their stage presence was off the charts without any need for gimmicks or dance routines.

Great to have Benny get some recognition. The singers, Agnetha and Frida typically get the most attention, which is understandable because they are phenomenal voices, but the contribution from the guys is just as important. Bjorn is the guitarist and has collaborated with Benny on a number of great musical projects. I think you might like the musical they wrote called "Chess". In "ABBA The Movie", ABBA performed this live, in Sydney, Australia, during their 1977 Tour. They did it during a torrential rainstorm, with thousands of fans, braving the downpour. I have the DVD, and it is amazing.

ABBA released a new top-selling album after 40 years absence! When you have heard all ABBA the adventure does not have to end there. The ladies each had hits before and after ABBA - some in English, most in Swedish - but good. Then Benny crested his own band and introduced us to Tommy Körberg and Helen Sjöholm - also great singers. Björn, the guitarist and lyric writer continued to write for others and wrote a couple of musicals including "Chess". Then there are the two "Mamma Mia" films based on ABBA songs and a couple of Australian films which feature ABBA music. To crown all that ABBA have built their ow theatre in London, England where they appear as "ABBAtars". Good listening!

I had such a crush on the blond girl Agnetha when I was a kid . She was my angel I had a poster of her in my room , the only real angel I ever saw in my life ,most girls today are like , ah , no thanks ! Incredibly talented group and wildly successful. Yes, your first pronunciation of their name is correct. This particular performance is to playback. The piano isn't making that sound. It's a synth, probably a Minimoog played by Benny. Two women, Agnetha and Anni-Frid aka Frida, are the main lead vocalists and the two men, their husbands/romantic partners during the 70's are the songwriters. The guitarist, Bjorn, also has some lead vocals and even Benny on keyboards leads on one song. There are other videos where they do perform this song live.

Whilst the video you were reacting to is labeled as live, this performance is actually lip synced. There’s not a huge amount of genuine live material. ABBA were masters of the recording studio and didn’t like to recreate versions that didn’t sound as good.
