It's sometimes good to strive to be an adult and do things on ur own or just think about ur future but forgetting about ur present age and not enjoying the moment at least is a big no no.. The present life comes once and will never repeat itself.. Thank you Love XO, that was almost my path.

Tbh I don't think either of them were in the "wrong." It's quite a good idea to think of your future in high school... we had courses that were meant to help guide you towards your career starting in like grade 6. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with trying to enjoy yourself in high school too, that's also what it's meant for. So yeah, I think there must be a fine balance

I've seen clips of this video on TikTok before and it does really sink in. You should enjoy it while you can before you're an adult because once that times passes, you will never get it back. When the COVID-19 Pandemic started and we went into these lockdowns and restrictions, it really made me realize that a-lot.

@Jj_Old velvetcake But the problem is, most teens want jobs and to be “independent” for the wrong reasons. Many teens think Independency is being able to buy all the things they personally want (clothes, video games, movie tickets, etc) without having to ask their parents for permission. They also think it means doing whatever they want without having to obey curfews. They don’t realize the true meaning to adulting……..and it’s not always as fun as they think it is.
@shevaunvan-hoff4069
@shevaunvan-hoff4069 Жыл бұрын
@@amylee8969 6 years ago i was a teen myself and so i can tell you that teens want jobs because they should learn to balance their lives and so they don't have to run to mummy and daddy for everything. when i was a teen i thought my parents were so uncool just because they'd ordered me around a lot and were so overprotective over me just because they were the adults and i was the kid. like most kids, i thought money grows on trees but that changed after year 10 and in class, i learned how to manage money and manage my own budget and what credit cards were used for and how to use it more wisely and pretty much everything my parents knew. it was that lesson in class that i finally realised adults have to work themselves sick to provide for themselves and their kids or whoever lives with them to survive and yeah it's never easy. what you have to remember is that teens will always think the way they do because they're young and have so much ahead of them and have no idea what life as adults will be like for them when for adults, especially older ones, every day that we experience the kind of stuff we probably dreamed of when we were younger, most of us have most likely realised that our lives are getting shorter every day and soon our time will come.

Agreed, and anyways, most teenagers Lexi’s age have the wrong idea of what Independency is. Sure with a job, you have the freedom to buy what you want without asking your parents for money but it’s much more than that. It’s about learning to be responsible and attempting to save money for more important things like bills, food, and other necessities.

As a college student I always think ahead of time, when I am a college professor is a job that I love, enjoy and fascinated sure it will come but when is the appropriate time. My professors said yes college is stressful but also enjoy being a student and be happy with your project and your progress, that is the only way you will become a college professor and teach to the next generation. I am just keep on learning more and practice more that is the only way I will gain experience.

Meh, I’m on Lex’s side aside from the part where she let her grades fall. I got accepted to pharmacy school at 18 years old and became a doctor/pharmacist at 23. High school, especially junior year, is the best time to build up your college applications. At that age, I joined as many organizations as I could, got near straight As, played a sport, got a summer job as a Technican, job shadowed.etc Didn’t she say she wanted to become a doctor? She was on the right mindset outside of going to the point to exhaustion and failing her classes.

I am impressed that girl knows what she wants to do as a junior in high school; I had no clue, and, even in my late 30’s, I still don’t know. ETA: I will add this as a reference to the common refrain you won’t use what you learn in high school: I thought that as well, but I did use high school geometry at work when I was an electrician to drill a series of holes in a straight line. (There are limits to how many wires can be in a hole, so we needed another series of holes, but didn’t have a level. So, I did a line bisecting construction, using my hand as a compass. The result? My holes were straight.) History is useful in that “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it”. I didn’t get to go to college at 18 and ended up going in my 30’s. Obviously, I was a lot older than most of my classmates. One thing that concerned me was that many didn’t learn about the Treaty of Versailles ending WWI, something I had learned about, as well as its role leading to WWII.

When I was in high school, I only worked one part time job as a pianist at a senior center once a week to once every two weeks. After two years, they ran out of money and budget and I had to quit that job. I also had a job as a church pianist twice a week, which by the way did not go so well. I also had a seizure shortly after that and couldn’t drive for six months. So after I graduated high school and had my drivers license suspended, I left that other job and had no choice but to find another job closer to home for about six months to a year during my first year of college at a grocery store working five days a week. Then I found another job at another senior center playing church music on the piano once a week. Then Covid hit, and I couldn’t work for 19 months. Nevertheless, I’ve had this job for three years while in college.

It’s important think about your future but just take it day by day. When your a young kiddo, and just be in sight of what you’re currently in and just enjoy your child days!
