A teenager has died and another seriously injured following a shooting at a farm in Whaley Bridge.
Police in Derbyshire were called to reports of a burglary at a property on Eccles Road, at around 1.20am on May 1.
A man, understood to be 19-years-old, was found dead at the scene having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. He was not the owner of the property
A second man - also in his teens - was discovered nearby having also been shot. He remains in hospital with serious injuries, and has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
A man in his 50s has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remains in police custody with a fourth man, said to be in his 20s, arrested later that day on the A6.
He too remains in custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Two scenes remain in place at two houses in Eccles Road and will remain in place for some time while investigations continue.

Difference between defending property and defending your safety or life. Or family members, if relevant. However the deceased thief was found in the home. If simply defending property then shooting is wrong. (I grew up on a farm, many thefts so understand the impact, still wrong). 💡Turn lights on downstairs/hall so know people are in and is home. Stay in home especially if family is, (them in locked bathroom), call police, you outside bathroom with weapon. (Or upstairs hall/near a lockable door). Keys leave downstairs.

So the message is here people when being burgled , is to just sit back and enjoy ,DON’T EVEN THINK about defending everything you’ve ever worked for !! Just simple hand it over and await police to show up after they’ve already left … because if you did ever dare to defend your self from multiple attacks on your own land that are clearly their for criminal activity you’ll be arrested for MURDER . Castle law uk .. this man Could very well be completely within his rights by law .

You can't rely on the police to protect you or your property but you can bet they'll be there and throw the book at you when you protect yourself and property.This happened many years ago to a farmer in Norfolk who was protecting himself and his property from 2 young men who entered his house. One was shot dead the other wounded.

All media in the UK will go into overdrive with the narrative that all the mainstream public see this a enormously concerning in terms of 'the poor boys' getting hurt/killed. That their actions were\ are no issue, just the 'disproportionate' harm that came to them is all that matters. That's not what people think, as shows on here, and most everywhere else !

they robbed him the night before when he was out of town and they knew he was out of town and took a large sum of cash, but he had seen it on his cctv and reported it to the police and returned to the property but these numptys obviously were not aware of that and decided to go back the next night but he was waiting at the top of the stairs with a shotty and the first guy to get to the top of the stairs had his head blown off

The farmer was protecting himself and his property. The teens should not have been dirty theifs! Those teenagers would not have thought twice to harm the farmer, this is wrong it shouldn't be considered a murder rather a act of self protection!
