JoJo was not anime first, it is a manga that started publication in 1986 and it is still running today! It is one of the longest running publications in manga and was highly influencal to a lot of modern shonen manga. Can highly recommend to watch the anime or read the manga.

The second versions really improve the openings

Fun fact : Jojo was the foundation of many many things. It's the grand daddy of many manga, video games and more. Street Fighter is a prime example of a video game inspired by Jojo. In fact one of the characters in street fighter is directly inspired by part 3. Jojo itself is partly inspired by series like Fist of the North Star which is why the characters up to part 3 are built like they are. After that part 4 and onwards the Mangaka started slimming his designs down. He is a huge western music nerd which is why powers, characters and abilities are named the way they are. His character designs are the way they are due to growing up in a house with 3 sisters who left fashion magazines around the house which he would read when bored. It's why we get so many fashionable characters inspired by the pictures of models he sees.

I understand why they didn't watch the alt versions of some of the songs, but I would still really like to see their reactions on how crazy some of them can actually get. Maybe another video perhaps?

The anime op's don't use the models from the video game. It was animated by Kamikaze Doga and all models were made by them as well.

Mannnn, it always breaks my heart when people don't really vibe with Chase. Watching the show for the first time, the tonal shift when that OP hit gave me chills. But I understand that I'm biased, especially since Pt4 is my favorite lol. Great reaction as always!! 💜

What makes jojo opening so good is the music (of course) and the different version in the final opening for each series. Kinda disappointed you didn't to the second version but i understand for the heavy spoilers reasons.

I expected the heel-turn with Chase. Chase is a song that you either love or hate. I love it. You have to be okay with a little discordance to really get into it, especially with that off-key harmony at the end. Plus, it matches the atmosphere perfectly!

I teared up at the second opening for golden wind and stone ocean. I got overwhelmed knowing what was happing during the time the opening was playing and how it ended.

Never realized that the cogs in the sand were a reference to DIO having time stop. Cogs representing continuous movement, sand representing time. They really put a lot of work into the openings

32:37 I think the reasoning as to why it didnt sound as groovier as much as the other ones is basically due to the fact that technically speaking- thats where that JoJo timeline ends, thats the end of that story, because part 7 is such a different shift and different cast of characters from the first parts entirely. New characters, some rewritten to be different people but with similar names, all that, so I think in my opinion it was a good shift and good idea to add such an emotional opening to that specific part.

Anytime I see people react to Jojo openings and NOT look at the versions where the main villain takes over the opening, it takes a piece away from my soul

jojo openings change after the main villain reveals his power and it affects the whole opening by some form and they place more vfx at the last episodes of each part so you should definetly listen to those too its very well made

The tricky thing here is partly that some of the songs work so much better with context and the ones with multiple versions often add more to the later versions that make them more interesting or hit harder... For the first opening of part 4, one version is a remix... Then, on top of that, a lot of these songs are growers too, in the sense that they'll really grow on you... They aren't obviously great at first, but then the things that you initially aren't keen on because they are unusual become more interesting because they are unusual or whatever... But yeah, it'd be really interesting to see if watching the show and the extra versions changes your opinions on these rankings.

It was really cool seeing not only the reaction but the takes coming from actual music professionals, but as many people said, it would be cool to watch you guys react to the alt versions of the openings they put in the last chapter of every season, but the thing is yeah, the songs dont change that much and they were the point of the video so I understand why you wouldn't.

Multiple openings for JoJo's have alternate versions. The second opening for part 3, the first and third opening of part 4, and the second opening of part 5 has 3 different versions that progressively amp it up. It's a fun little thing they do for important episodes, and plot events

I mean I the second jojo op represents despair and struggle. You can't have it groovier without losing all meaning and purpose. The singing is especially great at conveying the feeling.

Some openings have different versions which were used on very few episodes depending on the plot reveals at the time, there's one episode with a completely different arrangement for (part4 op1) Crazy Noisy Bizzare Town (for when Koichi unlocked act 3 I think), Traitor's Requiem (part5 op2) has like 3 versions depending on how much of the gang's boss' identity and abilities have been revealed, and there are more

I love jojo's openingsfor their alternative versions. I mean, they are top tier also in their normal versions but when they change during the progression of the storyline is what bring them on another level for me, really unique

It is CRIMINAL that we didn't get Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town - EDM Remix. Also, Chase is definetly underrated. Not as top tier as some others, but not as bad as others think. It definetly is one of those "it'll grow on you" intros.

I don't know if you guys would like it or not, but you might want to give Gintama's Openings (1-21) and/or endings (1-30) a try. They've got some pretty consistent and underrated music that surprisingly matches to their creative sequences. And if you're willing for the Opening playlist, try to look for some of their infamous "variants"; such as "MS Paint Version" Opening 8 and Opening 9 (FAIL).🤣

I was shocked when I first heard that Chase was one of the most hated Jojo openings. But when I hear all the openings together, I can see why. It's not just a whole different genre, to the point that it doesn't "fit" with Jojo, but it's also that Jojo has always been unique in their music. There's a flair in all the openings so far that I learnt is clearly a musical masterpiece for those with musical ears. Chase's style and theme falls along any other hardcore rock anime opening. It's a style that resonates best with classic anime lovers, so of course, it sounds outrageous when we hear that people hate it. I think one of yall said it best, that it's so *raw* . The other openings tend to follow a more classical/refined composition that "makes sense" while Chase may be harder on the ears. This is just me interpreting it. Chase is one of my favorites BECAUSE I'm a sucker for rock openings and it was the easiest opening for me to love. This and Fighting Gold, Bloody Stream, and Stone Ocean.
