Tekken 3 was my first Tekken as a kid in the late 90s, so I thought Gon was part of the game, didnt know it was just a guest. some dinosaur fighting games and tv shows like Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade etc were very popular back in that time so you would get used to see dinosaurs, reptilian monsters etc in fighting games

The parlour where i used to play tekken had a specific rule that the cost of playing with gon was twice as compared to rest of characters.

I remember being told that Gon's standing 3 kick was a low in Shirdel's Top 100 Overpowered Moves video, but couldn't believe it. Thanks for the video evidence of that being true!

In Tekken 3, my friend, who was using King, and I had some unresolved business. King's throws were ineffective against Gon, so he destroyed his controller in frustration. I'm hopeful that Gon will eventually be added to Tekken 7 just to mess up with him again. :D

There was a time when Gon was considered a contender for the worst character in the game. He was definitely a very unique characters with interesting attributes.

He was, though in my opinion, Dr B. just about edges him out - hard to conceive of worse than a character with whom getting them to stand up straight for half a second is a game in itself, and who can't block lows!

I’m not really educated enough about the character so I can’t say. He has some wacky strengths but also some very notable weaknesses. Even with his jank, I can’t see him being bannable in an overpowered sense, especially when characters like Jin and Ogre exist.

Pressing 1,1,1,1... was infinite. He has a crouch dash. His ff3+4 headbutt would fail from a certain distance, making him guard-break himself and the opponent could float you. He had alley kicks. He had King's shoulder drop. I think he had the regular giant swing. He had the twisting dropkick like King. He was so much fun.

I hate that you always have to fight him in Team Battle (the CPU avoids picking the same characters as you do) and just spam lows. Sometimes he manages to fight back a bit (on Hard of course), but not as much as the regular characters.

I only tried Gon a few times, his moveset felt weird. And when fighting against him, id always spam low kicks like stomping on a bug until it is finally dead hahah :D

I remember Gon was the first ever manga I read in my childhood. I was shocked he made it to Tekken back then. Really liked him. I miss Gon. I wish he’d make a comeback

If I recall, Gon came from some sort of anime or cartoon (Don't remember) and it was just a brief usage of him in a joking way. Of course after Tekken 3 they had no more rights also I think so he never showed up again after 3.

I like how very different he is in size and fighting style. Wish we could have this character back again. Fighting games nowadays release very safe characters.

I hate Gon because he is the reason Tekken 3 never was never dropped digitally on the PS store. It would have been awesome to be able to buy Tekken 3 from the ps3 store back then but only 1 and 2 was available. I read somewhere that Tekken 3 couldn't be dropped digitally because of the licensing agreement.

Like most characters in t3 he was broken, if u didnt know how to play against him=gg , I started me tekken pro journey with this character when i was 14y old and start winning most tournaments I went, even after u/f+1 he could actually 1hko you :) and he got a much stronger stuff after ''unblockable'' launchers on block, also he got many character specific things like 4,4,4,4,1+2 the last hit was unblockable vs BIG characters.

Lei, Bryan, Hwoarang, Law, Lei, Xiao, King, Nina, (True Ogre has special parry)and maybe some others have low parry as well. From the ther hand, after Gon is blocking Heihachi hellsweps he can interrupt by doing u/f+2 uppercut 😅 totally broken character

When people complain about the balancing of T7 I always think back to the balancing of every Tekken prior to, well, T7 lol.

Any game prior to DR is horrible in terms of balancing. I don't think anyone can reasonably dispute that. That said, T7 is the worst-balanced game since T5.0, IMHO.

Outside of the obvious characters - Akuma, Geese, Marduk, Julia, Kuni and annoying characters that you just have to have matchup knowledge on - Hwoarang, Nina, Lei and maybe Eddie and Yoshi, the balancing doesn't seem too terrible in T7, imo. Tag 2 was fucking horrendous, but I was a super scrub in that game lol, so my perception may be off a bit about that game's balancing.

@@jamessummers5936 The gap between Akuma and Gigas in T7 is easily wider than that between Devil Jin and bears in DR, between the top tiers (e.g. Lars, Bruce, Heihachi) and Dr B. in TTT2, or even between the top tiers (e.g. Bob, Lars, Bruce) and Zafina in T6.

I can say my least favourite guest. Akuma and Geese are okay but I am not much into 2D fighters so didnt use them. and I never used that final fantasy guy, (Nocus Lucus Calius whatever hes called) either. Negan was my favourite, i played as him a lot until I finally uninstall T7
