Tekken 7 Lee Juggle/Carry Distance Guide

This guide expands on basics from the combo system/mechanics guide ( • Tekken 7 Lee Combo Sys... ) to compare juggle distances and show how to maximize them with Lee.
Lee's raw juggle damage in T7 is pretty weak, but he has a great carry and the wall augments his damage. Effectively, as a Lee player it is your job to get the opponent to the wall!
BGM is The Force of Gravity by BT on his album, Emotional Technology.

Oh mann I dropped Lee in T7 when I began it, until now I played my main Steve and discovered Jack7. There happily both juggernaut now.I ever loved Lee maybe the most of all. Today I listened to Tekken 5 Ost and memories with Lee came back that I want to be good 1 day with him, so today I pulled Lee back out started on brawler and ran riot in a deathmatch with hwoarang to Vanguard.So ty, as always nice vibes on that Lee guide, I feel like 2 continue with him for a long time ^^

I agree Lee/Violet's normal combo is weak you have to carry them to wall for max dmg combo

It actually got slightly better (more consistent at least, and boosted damage in some combos depending on starter) with a patch that is deployed in arcades now on Tekken.net. However, it's not on the home systems yet. Next week or something?

TZMurakumo _I miss being able to bound juggles with F+4, 3. The recovery was so fast letting you catch up to your opponent and simpler than doing WS2, 4. T7 lee is more advanced but the screwattack is better for wall carrying._

No worries. I hadn't really done any guide-like stuff since Tekken 6, so I probably wasn't on any newer people's radar anyway. I'm trying to get them out as fast as I can, but life has been a little hectic/crazy since release. Calming down soon-ish, though. Hopefully I'll put out something good people can use.

The more consistent combo for damage/wall carry is: *Launcher*, 4, u+3, b+2-ws2, 4, dash, b+2 into 3 different combinations depending on the wall distance; f+2,1 (for long distance), ws2, 3 (For medium distance) and f1+2 (for close distance). *Most of the situations you could do any of these 3 finishers to get the opponent to the wall.
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 6 жыл бұрын
That offers more control for shorter distances for sure, but slightly less range overall at max. It all just depends on spacing on the stage. The range difference happens because later S! adds more distance in the juggle even if otherwise the same moves and hits.

1,2 does next to no damage, though, and raises the scaling really quickly. If you can't b+2 string, it might be worth it to do something like... 4, b+2~f,N, 2, b+2~f,N... or... 4,u+3, b+1:1~f,N, 2,1,3...

Great stuff! I was experimenting with the wall carry stuff last night. Good to see a video clarifying the usable ender's in conjunction with the choice of mist step. The info about using the b+1,1~f cancel before the f+2,1 to allow it to land more consistently is useful information. Could you do the same with WS+2,3? To allow it to land more consistently.
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, except the maximum number of hits for WS+2,3 seems to be one hit fewer (aerial hits 8,9 for f+2,1, aerial hits 7,8 for WS+2,3). b+1:1~f,N_b+1,1~f,N always helps make up space if you're falling behind or need to catch up--just can't link into itself or b+2 (can't be repeated in the same way) and the timing is stricter than another b+2. I miss the just frame a lot on this link because of the method I use (plink the buttons for two chances on the tight timing). With the scaling in this game and where it's used in combo, it's only a 1 dmg difference (3 for JF, 2 for normal), so I am willing to trade the damage for consistency. Old explanation of how to do it from almost 8 years ago here (still relevant): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iZ2GmqmesrKWqZ8.html

The timing (assuming you're not playing online) will never change. It's just a matter of getting the timing down, like any other "just frame." A lot of practice, a lot of work. Would not recommend for online or any variable lag environment.

Yea, I definitely wouldn't recommend using him online. His juggle game also suffers (or doesn't stand out) under the current system (similar problem to TTT2 vs. T6, where his juggle abilities and wall finishes/oki were above and beyond just about everyone else when pushed to the max). Further, some frame changes really hurt his standing game. I will forever be a Lee player, and I am searching for redeeming aspects for him right now... but it's a lot of hard work to make him work this time around. =/

Lee's real damage comes in at the wall where you chainkick the poor victim into submission. Just a basic 5 is like 50 damage and with nowhere to run you are cleaning the whole bar out

Do you plan on going over punishes in a future video? Playing Lee sometimes feels like I'm playing tekken on hard mode when more execution and practice is required for barely comparable payoff with damage, but then I see the HMS pose and Lee goin' "CAW MAHN" and I come back. It's like an abusive relationship ]:
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I will have a punish video. I think there are already a couple out there, but I intend to add a few little things that are punishes that stuff continuation mixups, frames after the punish and options to follow it, etc. As far as the order I intend to do, though, it will probably go from here... - Wall combos - Wall Okizeme - Punishes ... followed by - Poking - Fighting at the wall - Size considerations - Bigs Given my current time constraints and life... I'd say this week or next? I actually may need to wait for a friend to help test/input for wall oki, so if things go quickly, punishes could be as early as the end of the week. Friend helping me test/input on Sunday. And yea, I agree that Lee takes a lot of effort, especially in his juggles. He now has one of the best sets of punishes in the game, though, and a pretty good poking and CH game. Input barrier can be difficult, for sure, to maximize his juggles though.

Great video! Man I've been putting so much time into Lee cor the last 2 weeks, and I still feel like I'm nowhere. It's frustrating. Sometimes I spend 8+ hours in practice mode, kinda love it. But when I go online, Lee's stuff is that much harder. Difficult execution, strict timing, without wall carry pretty low damage for technically high execution. I guess at this moment I'm just very dissapointed in this character. Haven't played Tekken in over 10+ years, but I'm a fast learner. I've come a long way with Lee, but I think I will pick a new main. Do you have any suggestions?
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 7 жыл бұрын
Well, you said the word that scares me--online. Online play is a lot better than it was, but I still hate it. I'm a purist, and I want both as little lag as possible, and I want no variation in that lag. Online play also frustrates me because, you could have perfect timing, and you drop things because of variable lag, spikes, etc. It's, in that case, not a problem with the player, but the environment. I know I'm spoiled living where I do, near Tokyo, so once Lee is patched back into the arcade I can go to tournaments that are using the cabinets back to back, and I have friends close enough that I can host sessions at my place, but if I were forced to play online exclusively, for my own sanity I would play another character (maybe Leo, Feng, or Miguel). I feel like playing Lee online and adjusting for the environment can lead to bad habits offline.

I found a way to turn almost all of my combo's into 70+ damage (raw! extra rage damage excluded.and they are not to difficult to land. I've tested the combo's online and they work! I'm so happy right now, those 200+ hours of practice in the last 2 weeks finally payed off. Also, thanks to your wall carry video I've been able to carry opponents all the way to the wall and finish them PERFECT. I have a setup that the opponent can't escape from! If you late d+2 and they tech, you should still be at frame advantage, though I'm not sure by how much. In past games 2,2,3 would definitely CH if they tried WS+4. Might be time to get a mid in there to cover. For DJ, I would imagine it would be just a late CD,N+4.

Don't push and hold. Just tap back. You have to be back to neutral by the time you hit 2. Tap b then wait a split second before hitting 2. Also, if you tap b too early in mist step nothing happens. Maybe the first thing to try is getting the sway consistently. Without the sway, you won't get WS+2.

It's weird that you decide to not use your voice on the videos yet you still record them with your mic on. I can hear your controller in the background. These videos seem really good but also really advanced. Either that or your explanations are too short for me to fully grasp. There's so much information cramped up that it's hard to understand everything. Having command history on or telling us which moves you're using on the video would be nice. Even if you added them with a small font at the top of the screen or in the description of the video. Yeah, actually... having a transcript of the video in the description with expanded information would be the perfect solution imho. I''m gonna watch the video again.
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 7 жыл бұрын
Simply put, Shadowplay didn't remember my settings from the previous use. I didn't realize my mic was on (I don't use the overlay for controls--just the hotkeys) until I got it into Premiere. I have a ton of stuff to do though, so I made the executive decision to move forward with it rather than recapture it all. =o While it's also currently incomplete since the game is new-ish and life has been busy (work in progress), everything that shows up in these videos will be in the written Lee guide on Tekken Zaibatsu ( www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=132435&perpage=20&pagenumber=1 ) I'm aware, too, that the videos aren't for the neophyte. They're intended for people who have some knowledge of Tekken who are making the switch to Lee. I make a certain assumption that people are bringing their resources greater than KZfaq to bear to learn the game and character (Again, www.tekkenzaibatsu.com has been around since the turn of the millennium and is a great resource). I really don't believe KZfaq should be a one-stop-shop for everything, and naturally you'll miss a lot of nuance and discussion here that can go into finding these things and sometimes going further. The Lee forums are a really great place to go for that. As a player, I also have a history of finding the max damage options, even if difficult, to maximize Lee's potential, which is essentially the idea behind these. I make another assumption that if people want just some basic things to play and use Lee a little bit, they will run into other videos that supply enough for that. As for voice overs, I will probably do them at some point if I can simply add an audio track on KZfaq. The other consideration is that life happens, and is busy, so I haven't had a lot of time to produce things. I've been working full time, plus some recent weekends, and moving house, taking care of some tax stuff, and still trying to keep up with research I have a short window for (professional, not Tekken) between it all. So I would highly, highly recommend reading up and asking questions in the Lee forums at www.tekkenzaibatsu.com , but if you have some questions first/in the meantime, I'm happy to try and answer them here.

I've been trying to pull most of the damaging Lee combos online against people and they just won't work.
@TZMurakumo
@TZMurakumo 7 жыл бұрын
The operative word being online. As an older player, an arcade junky, and a bit of a purist, I still don't consider online a good play environment. Things get complicated further by added input lag throughout the series, really horrible lag from plasma TVs, and even lag from certain controls and sticks. Add these together with variable lag online, and it's a recipe for for missing a lot of stuff. Lee is one of the more timing-sensitive characters in the cast. Anything that messes with that (like online play), will screw up your ability to execute, and if you do get used to it, it often screws up your ability to execute in offline matches. If you are interested in playing in tournaments and find it at all possible to get a local scene together to play offline, I would recommend that. If you live somewhere that has this in the arcade, Lee gets patched back into the arcade 5 days from now--looking forward to that! (Tournaments, finally!)

Yea, I hardly touch online. I'm not sure why exactly, but also matchmaking for me online is EXTREMELY slow to find any hits (waiting 5+ mins to get a match)... not sure if it's something with US Steam account living in Japan or what. So anyway, if playing online, I'd recommend a change in mindset--don't take it seriously, and treat it only as a training tool. Online ranks don't matter so much because they're not as accurate a reflection of skill as in local games (or rather, they reflect the ability to play Tekken ONLINE well more than play Tekken well). There is of course some overlap, but in the past I just found myself very frustrated trying to take online seriously. It's much less frustrating if you can let it go because "online is online..." and treat it as an imperfect training tool only, in that "A laggy connection to an opponent is better than no opponent." When you really want to measure your play, try to find a local tournament sometime if possible. =)

Yea, his timing is quite strict. I only have the benefit of having been doing this for years (new game, but a lot of the same timings and inputs). The most difficult input from this video is probably the b+2~f,N, b+1 link. It's a little easier on stick because you can plink the button (two hits on the button) to increase your chances of getting it right. (Reference: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iZ2GmqmesrKWqZ8.html )
